Do you tee up your irons from the tee box?

I am in the camp of always teeing on the tee box. In this game, I'll take any advantage the rules allow and the chance to have a perfect lie off the tee is one of them.

I do, for sure. The Roger Maltby quote is golden: "If using a tee didn’t create an advantage, well, they’d let you use it everywhere." I tee them very low, just above the ground.

I’m in the group of “it depends”. Long irons are definitely using a tee. 8 iron on down is more than likely going to be off the ground.

All depends for me, quite often I won’t unless I’m hitting a long iron

He'll ya I do it's a perfect lay every time plus can use it to your advantage can increase loft and spin but it being 1/4 inch off the ground ore sink it just off the ground for less spin less hight and more roll without being a pro and knowing what your doing lol

I suppose with enough practice you would get a good feel for it. Does anyone adjust their position behind the ball when low tee-ing for irons?

I make no adjustment as I tee it flush to the grass, but I would imagine some others do or don't based on their preference.

Typically I will. Very low so the ball is just slightly off the ground for 8 iron and below and slightly higher for 7-5 iron. Every so often I get lazy and toss it on the ground

No. I swing normal and position normal. Teeing up is only to ensure clean contact.

Never. It may be mental for me, but anytime I have ever teed up for irons, I’ve thinned it.

I feel like I get good contact hitting off the grass vs a Tee.

I always tee the ball up at the tee box. It helps me control my ball flight. 

My coach told me that when on the course the only guaranteed variable you can control is your club selection and lie at the tee box.

Depends on the teebox tbh. If it's a nice teebox I won't generally, if it's a bit crap I will just to have a neutral point to hit from

Wow... I've never made the connection of practicing this on the range. I'm in the camp of always teeing it up just flush with the ground too. Generally, when practicing on the range I like to use part of my time simulating playing different holes, but I never tee up the iron tee shots on the range that I always would on the course. It doesn't even make sense why I never did.

I always use a tee on the tee box, no matter which club I am using.  I believe in taking advantage of the rules with having a perfect lie on the tee box.

The only Iron I use a tee for is a 5 iron, anything lower and I find a nice bit of grass to place the ball (do not have a 4 iron). With the 5 iron I have the tee in nearly all the way, just so the balls is sitting up a tiny bit higher. Just personal preference, I find the ball stops quicker without the tee

I play on courses where tee boxes are not usually in great shape and not always level. I tee it up every single time! Maybe if I play lush perfectly flat tee boxes, I would consider playing it off the ground.  I have one pocket in my bag for short & broken tees and another for longer tees so I’m always stocked and ready to go! 
 

I don’t tee up irons off the tee in the simulator, if that counts?

Always tee it up…I’ll take the psychological advantage. 
 

I’m also pleased that the tee it up by making a divot on the tee box crowd is slowly dying out. Nothing made me bite my lower lip harder.

I tee it but basically close to the playing surface barely above the ground.  So what it would be like on the fairway.

I find it more of a mental thing for me.
