I had the more fun playing golf today than I have in years. No pain - shoulder and knee fully recovered - and a ball that responded the way I wanted it to! What a concept, aim at a spot, hit the ball with a little draw in the swing and have the ball go to that spot! It has been a long time since that happened. Putting, yeah well that should have been better - 4 three putts 😬- pitching was pretty good, chipping so so. Driving hit 11 of twelve fairways!

Shot of the day was a 153 yard 8 iron on a 10 degree down hill side hill lie. Ball flight took me out over a pond to an elevated green with a dead straight shot that rolled up for a ten inch birdie putt!

I owe the day to the Lagshot system I have been using for about 2 weeks. I am going to write up the official unofficial review of the LagShots this weekend.

Look into fishing stuff, specifically fly fishing for steelhead. You have to be able to move your arms casting big flies on big water for steelhead trout. And I have NEVER fished for steelies in nice weather or warm water. Most of the time it is spitting snow while wading waist deep in 38 degree F. water.  Winter bicycling jackets have extra long arms and are amazingly wind proof which kind of figures.

It was an unusually warm and sunny day in southern Mi yesterday (and today). I took my pushcart to the course and decided I was going to play a speed golf round to get more exercise in. I didn't use GPS or a rangefinder and had the club I was going to use out of my bag well before I got to the ball. I didn't score very well, +13 on the day. I did finish the 18 hole round in 1 hr 22 min!

My chipping was actually better than usual and I think it was because I was committed to the shot before I even got to the ball.

Anyway, it was a lot of fun and I was sweating like crazy as I got to my car after the round!

Just played the worst round I have played in I don't know how long.  Back would never loosen up and just brutal outcome.  Had I not already committed to this and being the first time to play with this bunch, I would have taken the day off.

In hindsight, I probably should have anyways.

At least the weather was nice!

I can definitely understand the frustration, but I commend you for stocking it out and taking some time to appreciate the day. We all have bad days on the course, it's still better than a good day of work.

Absolutely!  I just felt bad for the team they stuck me on, having to use a handful of the holes.  Ha.

Sunny and 50* this afternoon with no wind...not bad for december!  I made it out for 9 and made it around with 2 bogeys and 2 birdies and 5 pars.  The iron play was especially on target today with 8 / 9 gir.

The course was set up with winter tees so it was playing shorter.  But with a stiff back i was playing shorter too!

A 6' birdie after a 53* Edison wedge.

I was looking for the ballmark on the next green after a 57* Edison wedge.  I didnt see it until tapping in for par, about 2" from the cup!

The second birdie on the 8th hole was a kick in after a pw...

Completely relatable. I was just in this position as well. It sucks. My wife reminded me I usually play batter after a bad round. Of course, she was right. I think its because I spent 3 days going over everything at home and actually paid attention when I played. Sometimes the back just wont let me go so no amount of work will make my game better, just rest.

Went out for 9 holes after work today and although the score wasn’t great, 47 on a par 37, it was great to be out playing. Two pars, both par 3s, and three doubles. Putting was a bit off with 19.

Played for the first time in over two months. It was also my first time post cataract surgery. What a joy it was to be able to follow shots, see where the pin was on the green, notice the grain and the wildlife around me:

IMG_5530.png.d3d812fdd254f72b94ef6c0ec8cdab27.pngI’d love to say that I had a banner round - I did not, shot 86, my second highest score this year. But everything looks so different that it’s going to take some adjustment. I figured a bunch of stuff out during the round and hit my best shots were on the last four holes. My drive on 18 was a career long from the set of tees I’m currently playing - 25 yards past my buddy - he and I are normally neck and neck and he did not hit his drive poorly - I also got frisky on the gap wedge into the green on that one and was rewarded with a brutal putt that I read and executed almost perfectly.

Just fun to be back at it.

Temps hit mid the sunny 50's today so the last of the Christmas lights had to wait until after some golf!  These winter tees are great for the ego!!  Three birds and two bogeys in 15 holes before the backup on the final few holes ran us out of time to finish.  The tee ball and iron direction is still behaving nicely.  I hope to keep some pieces of this swing through the winter so the re-start in the spring is not too painful.  No pics today as I left my phone in the car.

I'm sure you have tried this but sometimes, when I am on the range, I try counting in my head, like a slow rythym, kind of like 1-2 to the top of the swing, then 3 at impact and 4 for the follow through, anything like that to slow my swing down, it seems to work

Haven’t posted in here awhile as it’s been about a month since my last decent score (real life or virtual). Struggling with conditions in real life, and driving the ball at the simulator. Had a fairly lengthy warm up tonight, but managed to string together a decent virtual round for me.

Franklin Hills GC - Par 71 - 5583yds

45 out/ 41 in (86 total) with 35 putts (that’s definitely in my wheelhouse, been averaging 34 lately in real life with poor ball striking)

Can’t say I’ve broken 90 quite yet, but good practice for next season!

Virtual or not, that’s a good round. Especially 41 on the back. Also, worth mentioning that we accept SIM rounds for VCT, if you’re interested in posting there and joining in our friendly competition. 😁

Played better today. Irons and Driver pretty solid and going mostly where I wanted the ball to go. Two things that were different. The course - went over to Arizona Golf Resort a 'has been' course that has suffered severe neglect by its cheap owner who lives in California. Better now than it as been in a couple of years but the neglect still shows through. The second thing is time of play. I normally go off with the afternoon shotgun at Coyote Run. Went off at 8 this morning and through the first four holes my MGI Zip Navigator collected ice on its wheels. 44 degrees is COLD. I really like that men's club and I played today at AGR to see the snowbirds who have recently arrived.

But it was COLD!!!

So I may not go back again until March...

Solid score today 73.

12 greens, 12 fairways, 31 putts

Hit some really solid shots all day, 7 iron on 11 to 2 feet for birdie was my best shot.

Had a fun day with 2 old buddies and one new one.

All in all a good day for december 14th, greens are very good for this time of year.

Fairly solid play for me today so no complaints. Played the front 9 at my regular course and shot a 41 with four pars and five bogies. Found four fairways but only two GIR with a total of 16 putts.

The whole course was in pretty good shape to be honest. Greens are a little slower than normal but still rolling nicely. It truly was a great afternoon for a walk while hitting a ball around. Planning on doing it again tomorrow.
