I had one of the cleanest rounds I have had in a long while.  I wish the putting would have been on today.  Could have been a super low round.

I’m in Louisville for a work/ fun week. Valhalla yesterday (wet). Played Fuzzy Zoeller’s Covered Bridge course in Sellersburg, IN this morning. Back at Valhalla Friday. Recommend Covered Bridge. Very pretty, fun golf course!

My first VCT round!

Played the back nice twice due to aeration, on the Wolfpack/Gray combo tees. Walked and carried my bag, which probably added a few shots to my score. Longest drive was probably 215. Three net birdies: par-5 15th, 15th again and par-4 16th.

Almost my best round to date on this course.  Scored higher than my PR, but as far as handicapping goes this came out to a 39.5 HD vs 43 on my PR score of 115.  This means I handled the holes better than before, but had some really terrible blowups.

Today, I actually played pretty well.  However, the score didn't necessarily reflect that.

The course was completing their first aeration of the season just in front of us all morning.  They did rather large holes with a sand top dress.  What made it a little worse is that the amount of sand (none to too much) varied hole to hole.  Unfortunately, the conditions too away the strength of my game:  chipping and putting.  It was a little difficult to get a consistent release after the ball hit the green.  Some time it just stopped and other times ran right through.  

The 57% fairways is rather low for me (I'm typically in the mid-70's).  Most misses were within a few feet of being in the fairway.  But it still counts as a miss.  Funny that my biggest miss turned out better than I thought.  On the par five 18th hole I drove the ball right my intended line, into trees and the cart path.   When I finally got to my ball, it was resting between a mound and the cart path.  The bare ground was my best option as getting cart path relief would have made it a tougher shot.  I hit a 5 wood through a small opening about 170 yards to about 100 yards from the pin.  I can't remember the time I was that close after two shots!

On the downside, I had my first double bogie in 54 holes today and it was because I hit my second shot too well!   I pulled my drive a little bit on the dogleg left par four 7th hole.  I was 130 yards to the trap guarding the front, so I hit an easy 8 iron to lay up.  Unfortunately, I hit it too well and into the trap.  I got out of the trap, chipped on the green and two putted for a double six.  It was my only double of the day, so I started my no-double streak again.

The impact of the aerated and top-dressed greens can be seen in my (only 1) up and down for par performance and 32 overall putts.  Though I was in position to get an easy up and down on several holes, the green variability made it extremely tough.

Another round, another day flirting with par (9 holes).  I'm on some kind of run right now, I've never played this well.... Ever.     I was at. -1 after 7 and got greedy trying to stick it close on 8 & 9.  Short side is the wrong side.  Oh well.

Was a great day for golf! The front nine was much tougher as I struggled off the tee, but the back nine was great and really helped my score. Had my longest drive of the season and have to give a lovely thank you to the links-style undulations and the elevation for carrying my ball out to 317 yards.

Best round of week - 2 natural birdies even on bumpy greens with a brief shower mixed in.

Two completely different nines today. We started on the back side. My head wasn’t into golf. It definitely showed. I shot 41 with two doubles, a bogey and one birdie. On that side four fairways, three greens and sixteen putts. One of the guys in our bet gave me crap before the turn and it woke me up. Back side: two under and hit seven greens with fourteen putts. A clean card on the back. With all the presses in the bets won big! They should never poke the bear! Blue tees rating 69.1 and slope was 123.
