With a full schedule this upcoming weekend, and to get a couple rounds in this week, played both Wednesday and Thursday late mornings here in tropical Michigan.

Temperature on Wednesday hit 91 with 85% humidity and wearing shorts and a tee shirt, we were drenched with sweat afterwards both days.

Played "steady" golf continuing where I left off in Wisconsin. Only hit driver on 3 holes each day, more 3 woods and 4 hybrids to keep ball in play and scoring potential up.

Managed a 77 on Wednesday with 31 putts. The greens which show one putts the ball was on the fringe so technically a missed GIR but also not a putt.

Will post some pictures in my August 1, 2024 round post.

Thursday round, again in tropical conditions, but similar to the round I played the day before.

Had more GIR's but also 2 putted each hole today, and it appeared that they may not have mowed the greens this morning due to the heat here?

Similar game plan to keep it in play off the tee, and those fairways missed were not in trouble, just off edges on dogleg holes. Again, only hit driver 3 times today.

Pictures here are from both Wednesday and Thursday rounds.

Hot and Humid this week along with racing this weekend so wont get a chance to go out and play... Usually my back 9 is better than the front as I'm loosened up and have an idea of what is going on with the swing for that round... BUT chipping went to crap and just kept coming up really short costing me alot of strokes. Also my first time putting on the sim and that tough without a real target and feel for speed, wondering how it will affect my actual game

This was a windy one
The back nine was easier since the trees block the wind a bit more

I had a couple good drives but the struggle has been real lately. It's been killing my scores and I've resorted to using 3w off the tee most of the time until I get through whatever this is.

Played a good round. Ball striking was great but hit some really bad putts. 33 putts on the round is deceiving because I had 3 or 4 1-putts from within 3 feet. Hot, humid day especially for walking a round.

Put an x-stiff shift in the driver this week, feels different to swing but feel more in control off the tee. Combine that with starting to get the feel of the Vice vgI01s and learning my distances, and the game is feeling good - minus the putting. Feeling really confident when I get to hit a 9i or pw into a green. Even find myself reaching for a 5 or 6 iron off the tee a bit more when I know it will give me a 9/pw in

Okay day, but could not figure out the greens. 21 putts 4-3putts and drained an 8' on 9 for birdie. Some of the most beautiful views around.

@Golf2Much, @Josh Parker, and @GolfSpy_BEN ... do we get an extra stroke taken off our score for somebody on our team having what's likely the best club head cover in the whole VTC mid season tournament????

That fish is awesome @frazzman80

So many people have called my Broomstick DF2.1 a “satellite dish” that I just leaned into the alien theme! Each time I make one I should yell “Beam me up Scotty!”…throw that extra shade Mr. Cameron’s way if you know what I mean!

As @Syks7 is prepping for a tourney next week that's playing at 6,800 yards, we decided to play from the tips yesterday to approximate the same-ish scenario (6,816). Super fun experience, as I've never honestly paid the tips any attention, so several tee boxes were completely unique.

Pretty great front-9 - the three bogeys we're almost all nearly-pars - putts just missing.

Back 9 had my only birdie, but just way too many poor drives to give myself a really solid chance at scoring. Honestly, it's crazy to think I'm "mad" at an 80, but given the VCT tourney stakes, as well as the chance to have really posted a good score, it goes to show me that I'm clearly improving - 80 two years ago would have been a lifelong goal 🙂

Only 3-putt was from 60-ish feet away - left myself a sneaky 6-footer that (once again) burned the edge. But that's what I get for leaving myself that much for the 2nd. 30 putts in total.

Overall, a great day out in the sun. IMG_9948.jpeg

Do I post this score with 2 birdies or do I stick with the 74 with 3 birdies and hope that my partner @GolfSpy_BEN can par the holes that I bogeyed?   Strategery?  I guess I will post in now that I am in Flight I in the VCT.  Front 9 was a GIR machine and had 2 more honest chances at Birdie for a 32 on the front....visions of 69 were dancing in my head then I got to 9 and Fran Tarkenton showed up and started scrambling.  Missed 1 green on the front and only hit 3 on the back.  Probably 2 honestly.....was on the fringe on 16.

IMG_5927.PNG

Is my math wrong, or should you have three net birdies? If you're a 1 HCI, You get a stroke on hole 5, which makes your par a net-bird, no? Really, really solid round, regardless!

First of two rounds this week.  Play Loch March in Ottawa tomorrow AM.

Didn't expect much of this round.  New course, travel, heat wave.  However, managed to pull out an average performance.  Ended up with 5 net birdies and one net eagle.  I'd prefer to see nine, and haven't done the calculations yet to see if that gets us a win.  Always a gamble playing against other high handicappers.

PXL_20240803_141135525.jpg.ca2c0344e0d4e9899f799afe2d09eddc.jpg The first tee...

Beautiful, but very hot and humid day.  My phone said it was only 54% humidity, but the feel like temp was 97°F over an 89°F actual. I'm guessing it was way more humid than that.  Thunderstorms with Looney sized hail expected tonight. Maybe.  Weather is a bit unpredictable this week.

PXL_20240803_171358461.jpg.aaac15645c588849ec7cbd44b3a4b2f8.jpg Another Par 5?  6 on this course. Oof.

What a great course though!  Green fees came with a cart.  Tons of water, but generous fairways and challenging, well protected greens.  Had trouble with losing many balls, not enough club to get on, and disappointing putting performance.  It does play long, 6025 from the whites.  I really should have played red. It is somewhat reminiscent of Heron Lakes Great Blue back home, but a bit easier and less sideline fairway bunkers.

PXL_20240803_205407864.jpg.7182c513aeaddce22e69c5489cd55997.jpgPXL_20240803_205351859.jpg.05d7e557c56c0b001b8da20b3576072a.jpg

Generally good ball striking today though.  Seem to be finding my low point more now and getting some clean mid to high draws out of most of my strikes.  Fairway finding was good.  If I could only get away from the obstacles a bit and be a bit more aggressive on approach I could see breaking 100 on this course.

This was a windy one
The back nine was easier since the trees block the wind a bit more

I had a couple good drives but the struggle has been real lately. It's been killing my scores and I've resorted to using 3w off the tee most of the time until I get through whatever this is.

Maybe it's still the front 9, but where are the trees?  Asking as someone from the PNW.

Lenny, cue the dramatic music.

Just posted my personal best. I knew I was playing pretty well, but was not aware of my total. Last hole was a par 5. Hit a really solid drive, left me with about 170 to an elevated green. Hit a low seven iron, and this was the result:
