The best GPS app for Android

I'm looking for the best one out there. Currently, I'm using the Stiker app and think it's pretty good, but their website needs a lot of work for the stats and other things...it still says coming soon when you click on them. (Heidi, where are you??)

 

What do you use and why is it any better than Striker with a one time fee of $20.

 

I've looked at Golf Logix but don't see why I should spend the same amount per year like I was in the past.

 

Maybe I'm gunshy, but convince me.

 

(This is for Android apps, not I use a laser, they're better comments, thanks fellas.)

I am not 100% sure it has an andriod app but you can try the Swing by swing app. Does really well with the gps function and has a good stat tracking tool built in. I have it on iPhone and from memory it was only a couple bucks for the paid version of the app, and the stat tracker upgrade through Looper is something like $15.

I bought the Golfshot paid version before I got a laser. Now I only use it to keep score, which can be achieved with the free version as well.

No mate, I don't. Some will give you X amount of rounds for free and then charge you and the rest you have to buy right out of the gate.

Free Caddie. Nothing elaborate but, it gives you yardage to front, middle and back of greens.

Actually Swing by Swing is free and if you want more stats etc you can upgrade.

The recent update to GolfShot makes it heads and shoulders above the rest. It's really beautiful and comes with free GPS now.

I have that one installed on my phone but haven't used it, I'll play around with it and see what I think...which is probably what I'm going to have to do with all of them.

figure out how to charge your phone on the course, because these apps will kill your battery quickly, if i leave the SBS app running my battery will be down to 25%t by 16, and it started with 100% life.

Turn your screen off between shots. Most phones will deactivate the data when you do that and that will save the battery a bit.

 

Also, buy a little portable charger. Wife bought me one at big lots for $10.

 

If your phone is approaching 18 months+ old, your battery tends to discharge quicker that it used to when new.

Well, it's pretty much a done deal...Golfpad is the app I'll be using.

 

Relatively simple but you can track every shot with every club and you can do a flyover of every hole. I'm going toupgrade for $15 for thefull stats, but this is a keeper.

I downloaded GolfPad GPS some time ago, it's pretty complete and has a few features that are absolutely superb.

If you don't know the course, each hole has a flyby so you can check your path before playing. Good for previously unplayed courses when you have blind tee shots. GPS is pretty good, compared to my Leupold, but I don't rely on it, because of the Leupold.

I don't think it does, but you'd have all the scores saved, so it's easy enough to do that yourself. At least, that's what I'm doing to do.
