it's such a great looking driver.  No busy'ness on the crown, just a classic black gloss finish.   The shaft feels great.   Just went out for a quick looks do on the range, and after one quick adjustment to make it one more degree upright, it was a straight and true.  Love the sound to MBP...definitely a bit loud, but not loud like the old Cobra or Nike Aluminum bat type loud, but the type of loud that gives you a positive reinforcement that you hit it well. 

 

Will have more in-depth thoughts after putting it in play tomorrow night (and maybe tomorrow morning if I can sneak out )

OG. I'll tell you what MBP told me about the 765 irons. You have to go hit this thing. I know your very happy with the F6. But this thing is legit. The Most Wanted Test results sure know what they are saying. The head feels and sounds great. But the real star may bs the Miyazaki shaft. I have the Mizu and I don't think I've ever hit a more lively shaft. I can't wait to actually get it on course, to see if what I think I'm seeing on the range is true.

I broke down and bought a Wilson Staff D300 5W, 4H, and 5H to replace my RBZ woods.  Totally changed the way I play long shots, and I am still figuring out how far I hit them.  They are very light and launch higher than the RBZs.

I played 18 yesterday and the greens were being aerated so I was mostly alone on the course and could try various techniques and shots.

I studied up on the one plane swing, watched quite a few videos and tried it out on the course.

I was striking the ball very well and hitting some really straight and good shots.

I was so impressed that I ordered “The Plane Truth” by Jim Hardy and am dedicating myself to the one plane swing.

 

I actually had been doing (part of) it unconsciously before this year and once I saw myself on video thought it was all wrong so I tried to switch to the two plane with not-so-good results.  Now that I understand it much better I was able to make a couple small changes that really helped.

Based in part on comments on MGS, I switched out my 3H to a 5W and am pretty happy with that choice.

I was fighting that decsion and went to a fitter to hit both.  I ended up with a 5w head in a 7w shaft.  It gave me that perfect flight and 185 to 190 yard distance I have been looking for.

My research and study really emphasized bending over at 35-45 degrees and standing further away from the ball with a wider-than-normal stance.  

Feels weird but, I must say, it works!

Not bought anything recently, however I did pop into my local shop to try out the new M1 fairway all the numbers are in the right place, I just can't justify the price tag for the club and shaft specs I've been fitted for. I've bought a box of Vice Pro Golf Balls and looking forward to seeing how they play.

I was looking at a 565, 765 combo set. I will be getting new irons in a couple years and I thought hey looked really nice, thinking of 4,5,6, in the 765, and 7,8,9,PW in 565. I may change my mind on which companies irons to get, but my next set will most likely be some sort of combo.

They are so sweet...I don't know how you can hold off two years....you're a better man than me..LOL

 

Oh, and I think you have the models mixed up the 765 are the players CB and the 565 are the more forgiving.  Either that or you will have one very interesting and different combo set..ha

You're so going to love that club, I can think of several holes already at CP where that'll be great off the tee for you, and of course great for your 2nd into par 5's.

Yes, I did.  It's an annual tournament that myself and MDGolfHacker have played in for the last 10 years or so.   54 holes, individual stroke play, play the ball down, hole everything out...real golf.   Balls in the air at 6:00 AM last putt holed around 7:30 PM.    It's literally the best day of golf every year.   Only thing that sucks this year is he has another outing on the same day, so he can't play with us, and he is playing another date this year.   The local magazine that runs this, has four dates and four courses each year for this, and they sell out all four dates. 

 

It's a long A$$ day, but you are having so much fun and into the competition you don't really pay attention to being tired.
