... It was a Best Shot twofer today. Playing the silver tees at 6722 I joined my young pards from the tips on the par 3's. Middle back pin playing 205 into a gentle breeze and hit my hybrid on the green leaving a 20 footer, while my young studs all missed the green. They all chipped on, resulting in one par and 2 bogies. So I rolled in my 20 footer for a birdie. Kids ... 😇

First ever eagle on a par 4, granted it was a shorter uphill par 4! Honestly couldn’t believe the putt went in.

Was playing a 3 club only challenge at a local course this weekend, had a par 3 with the pin tucked back right, rangefinder had it at 165yds, managed to put my 9i to just on the fringe behind the flag to within 4 feet of the hole. Normally they've got a forward pin location and I play a soft 8i there, so I was happy to have made the distance with a 9i, I don't often swing hard at a short iron, but it was a hell of a shot to watch.

Absolutely shocking day of golf today. 115 for the day, 5 balls lost, couldn't hit a straight drive with a gun to my head 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ only good shots were a 25ft putt from the fringe down in one, and a bump and run putt with the gap wedge which left me about 3ft from the hole. Gotta see the good with the bad eh 😂

Have two today. One that was a great lie, unfortunate result. The other a terrible lie and great result.

number 6 today. Great drive to middle of fairway. Smoke a 4w as best as I can and I Tom Kim it. See that tree, my 4w launched high and drew right into the tree. IMG_7862.jpeg.f9d0fd3756b26b92089b671ecdcfb949.jpegIMG_7868.png.7f93bb9234f852aeb92eaf1a7a4d83e5.png

the other was, after a great drive, pulled my approach into the upslope of the green side bunker. It buried. I took my 54 and as big of a swing I could and swung. Ball came out and rolled to 6’. Sadly lipped out the par save. That was a hell of a shot.

Near the end of an otherwise horrendous round I had the "shot that brings you back" on 17.  I was on the upslope of a mound just beyond the bunker and I got my lob wedge to one hop and bounce off the flag stick.  Missed the putt but there's still something satisfying about that sound.

Had a similarly solid shot with my lob wedge during my round yesterday.  The large green slopes down pretty strongly from back to front and there's a decent drop down from just in front of the green.  Got my shot to land right at the top of the mound and it trickled down to about two feet from the hole.  Hit the putt for my only par of the day.

18th tee box of a frustrating round of bogey golf. Long walk from the 17th green to the 18th white tees playing forward, I imagine you could see the steam coming out of my ears like smoke signals. Hole is playing about 270y. I grab my TS2 and swing harder than I've ever swung I think. The thing takes off like a rocket. "Drive of the day" says Dad. "#$%^&*@×÷%#" I reply.

Didn't get much of a bounce as it turns out I wound up about 25y from the front.20230705_174918.jpg.ce982af7ba420b57edd8b5724741103f.jpg

This one felt good.  The trees are large enough to dissuade a draw.  Owen faded his too much and put it in the pond, another partner sliced badly and the third chunked his into the river.  I managed to just nick the tree leaves, sending an otherwise straight shot to the left a touch, settling just off the green.  Confidence was high after this one! 😃

Played yesterday with my wife Kathy at our home course, The Hills at the Portal in south Surrey, a short drive from our home in White Rock B.C. We had just spent a weekend with friends up country in Shuswap Lake where we played a couple of rounds at Talking Rocks GC. A difficult course I did not play very well, so I was looking forward to getting home to play here. So the third hole is a Par 3 about 150 yards to an elevated two-tier green. This green is really hard for me to hit and if you miss you are chipping up maybe ten or twenty feet. Anyway, today I managed  to hit the low tier on the left of the green and have the ball rollup to the edge of the upper tier and stop. However, the cup was diabolically cut on the right side of the lower tier and on a slope about 15 feet away. As I'm looking over the putt I'm complaining to Kathy that the put was impossible. I had to literally putt 90 degrees along the ridge, stop the ball and let gravity take the ball down to the cup. But if I don't hit the cup there is no way the ball stops on the green but rolls off the edge and maybe a few feet off the green - impossible. So you can guess what happened. Yup, made the putt for a birdie on a hole that I rarely par. My shot of the day. BTW - I went on to shoot my best score of the year - an 85. 😊

My best chance to shoot 68 is to walk in after 15 😂

I have 2 for the day.

1st shot.  Par 4 10th, hit the fairway and dropped a 56 degree to 4 feet from 105, downhill over a bunker which is as wide as the green.

2nd shot of the day was on the 11th.  Par 5.  Drove it 286 middle of fairway Had 219 to the flag.  19 degree Hybrid caught a limb and so it dropped behind the tree.  Had no option but to pitch to right front corner of green with flag back left.  Had 65 feet uphill left to right for birdie and left it on the lip.  Best putt of the day.  Did save par though.

During today's round I hit an absolute beauty of a nine iron on my approach into the Par 4 10th hole.

As the screenshot shows, my approach required me to negoiate a rather tall oak tree that they tucked the pin directly behind. I didn't go around it, I didn't go under it, I didn't even go through it. I went right over the top of it with a high, tight draw that landed...

...about 4 feet from the pin and spun back toward the hole, leaving me a 3 foot kick-in birdie.

Had a nice little sequence on hole 11 today.  Hit one of the better 8 iron shots that I've had in weeks that the wind caught and wouldn't let the ball draw back enough.  Hit a little lob/chip that rolled really well and left me with an almost tap in par.

lets go with the 17th, 160 to win, into the wind. Drilled a 7 iron about 8' long, and made the putt for a birdie, yay!

Another nice sequence today.  After a badly topped drive that didn't even make it to the fairway, I hit my 4H as well as I've ever hit it so far, leaving me about 70 yards from the pin situated on a very tricky sloping green.  I pulled my lob wedge and hit my target, where I knocked in the slider two footer to save par.  A lot of times a poor drive like that would just kill me for the rest of the hole.

Sunday I played poorly but had one hole where I just killed. 515 yard par 5. Drive down the middle followed by a hybrid from an uphill lie, 220 to the middle of the green. It helped me forget about the duffed wedge from 15 yards that ended in a double.
