2023 Birdie Every Hole Challenge

My selfish motivation to start the thread was that I managed to have 3 birdies on  my first 9 for the year at my course, 2 of which have proved difficult to achieve over the past 2 years.

On a side note, I've already birdied the 4th hole 5 times this year. It'd be fair to say I like it.

Happy I made birdie on 10 today. It's one of the hardest holes on my home course. Hooked a drive left (I have a regular habit of taking away with the face really shut), scratched a 5 iron near the green, then chipped in.

Well who could've guessed but I actually have 1 birdie! Yeah it's a short Par 3, but hey - one good short iron and one great putt

Also made FIVE Pars in one round - a record for me - and this is really where I hope to keep adding onto this season.

When I went down this road a couple years ago I kept playing our back nine over and over and over looking for that last elusive birdie - still came up one short. Here is to a better 2022…

 I haven't gotten out for many full rounds at home so playing 9 at a time, and generally resigned to the front 9.  It's going to take some effort to get this one checked off this year.  But, I've gotten some of my nemesis pars out of the way already.  Had a heart breaker on a hole that sets up poorly for me last week.  Rare FIR set up a nice 6 iron into the green and I snap-hooked (extremely rare) it OB.  Placed another down, flushed it and had a 6-7 footer for bogey.  Stupid game.

Off to a good start so far - managed to get up and down for par from 90 yards the other day on the first hole, which was the only one I didn't check off last year.

I'm kind of late to the party, but I love this idea! I went through my shotscope rounds for the year and am right at the half way point so far for the year.

I missed this thread for some reason.  I was keeping 2022 records on another spreadsheet and just transferred the info to this one.  I have 4 birdies remaining to get all 18 this year.  #2 is a long par 4 that I normally cannot reach in two so it will be a difficult one for me.  #11 is a par 5 that I can reach in regulation without issue BUT it seems to have my number as I keep screwing it up somewhere along the lines and birdie has eluded me so far.  #15 is another difficult par 4, but I feel it's one that I'll be able to birdie some day.  #16 is a par 3 and typically plays with a 7 or 8 iron but for some reason, I haven't been able to grab this birdie yet.

I try this every year (since 2018) at the 27 hole municipal course that I play about 25-30 times per year. The good news is that it can keep you gunning for something during a round that goes sideways and can teach you to be aggressive if you are naturally more risk averse (that is me). Currently have knocked off 14 out of 27 holes and I still have two par 5s left to try to birdie. Last year I finished 19/27 so hoping to improve upon that this year. It gets very difficult towards the end I feel and the long par 4s are obviously the hardest. It also gets my blood pumping a bit when I get to within 10 feet in regulation on a hole I haven't birdied yet.

Really like this challenge! I started tracking this when I joined a local CC this year.  It always gives you something to grind for even when you may not be playing well.

Ticked off the last one on Saturday. Played awful but managed to birdie the 16th. Had lots of good chances on this hole, but haven’t been able to drop any putts until now.

I have a 27 hole complex where I am trying to accomplish this but so far I have birdied 16/27 holes through 14 rounds. Still a few gettable holes left and a few absolute brutes that I will just have to lucky on.

Added myself to the spreadsheet... four beastly holes left, Handicap holes 2, 3, 4, and 9 left. 9th the hardest as it's a long par 3 you can't really run your shot onto green, so it's all carry.

I had my best look of the year on 16 last night and left it about a ball short!

I finally got my bird on #16 last night. I still have 4 holes remaining, but with the season winding down I doubt I get them all this year.

Well I unexpectedly added one more birdie - to get to a grant total of 2 (my actual goal is filling out the Pars) - and I didn't even realize it until the next morning when reviewing/editing my round on ShotScope!

#1 is a short, slight dogleg left Par 4 with a fairway bunker diagonal across the fairway starting at about 215 from where I hit .. so I usually try to hit just short of it .. a not solid tee shot but it bounced and rolled to a good enough spot; a good short iron to the middle of the green .. where it was plugged in a GUR area .. replaced the ball just outside of it .. and unexpectedly rolled in an almost 30 footer...

I got 17/18 with one eagle....so infuriating close!

I ended the year with just about where I expected.  I birdied 16 of 18, no eagles.  #2 and #15 on my course are both long par 4 holes and I typically have a wood left to difficult greens.  I have reached both in regulation on rare occasions, but never close enough for a reasonable birdie putt.  #14 is also a long par 4 and the only reason that I was able to birdie that hole was a 50 yard pitch in.  I suppose that I could move up a set of tee boxes, but I'm giving the current ones I play at least one more year.  Currently playing the white tees at 6150 yards.  Moving up to the silver tees would put me at 5571 yards.  I'm 71 years old and distances are not what they used to be.  Only reason that I still play the tees that I play is to participate in the "Gold Cup" group within our Men's golf association.  

I have started 2023 off with birdies on #6,9,and 11.

I ended at 21/27 holes birdied which is an improvement over 2021. But, in reality, I just don't make that many birdies and I make them VERY often on the same holes. There was one hole I birdied 8 times in 22 rounds. I may start playing a different course more often in 2023 (only 18 holes) so I have to consider if I focus my efforts there. Maybe I will track both to start and see how I am looking towards mid point next year.

Just joined the 2023 sheet! I am a ways out from golf in Wisconsin, it is a long and slooooooow wait! I put myself down for birdies and pars, hoping to achieve both as my handicap (hopefully) improves with increased play this coming summer!

Live at a Sun City community and we have 3 courses so added all three. Looking forward to watching the year progress.
