I just made it home from work and it is crazy how much I'm having to catch up on. I like it! For some strange reason, our ability to get good Internet service inside the plant has gone the way of the dodo bird and it's quite frustrating. 

@Josh Parker I'm just jealous of the deck. Honestly, it looks awesome and I know you'll make lots of memories there. 

@CFreddie happy anniversary! 

@GolfSpy_KFT I hope your oldest gets to feeling better. 

@Northern Monkey congratulations on the new personal best round! That's freaking awesome! 

@Wheelieb I hope you can find some answers to your ailments. 

@EnderinAZ I hope things went well for you today. 

@ILMgolfnut have fun today with @Tom the Golf Nut I've had the pleasure of playing a few rounds with him and he's a great player and fun to be around. Plus, he's a scholar and a gentleman. 

I've got a round scheduled tomorrow morning and it's going to be wet and sloppy after all the rain, but it's going to be a good time.

@rkj427 - With retirement nearing, how are you holding up? It hit my F-I-L pretty hard for a couple of weeks when he retired. Thankfully, he has a small farm and it turned to harvest season and he snapped out of the lull pretty quickly and has had a pep in his step ever since!

@CFreddie - Happy Anniversary! Enjoy the quiet! I have two kids yelling at each other at the top of their lungs right now. I can't tell if they're singing or happy or mad. 

@GolfSpy_KFT - Have fun at Vortex HQ! 

@tdc1 - I have no wind cutoff. If I have the opportunity to play, I'm going to take it. I will adjust plans for other weather (rain, hail, lightning), but not for wind.

@Northern Monkey - Congrats on the PB! Sounds like it was an awesome round! That putter must've been "running" nicely for you. 

@jbern with now only 7 more Monday through Friday working days left at this time I am doing OK with upcoming retirement.

I mentioned much earlier that a big reason for my decision was the lack of help or support from our "team members" mostly due to their attitudes of "not going to school to get my hands dirty" and their recent job title changes.

That hasn't changed, although now they realize that they do not have a replacement or anyone else in that "team" with any mechanical skills or background.

Other's have told me and convinced me that is NOT my problem.

Working in the automotive industry, I believe that if you know and understand how things work, and why they work the way they do or are supposed to do so, a paper degree saying that you know and understand math for an engineering degree is only worth the price of the paper it is printed on. Hands on experience would trump being "book smart."

My biggest fear or concern is the change to a "routine" of getting up and going to school or work since 1968, and then to full time work or employment since 1973.

I do have a lot of outside work activities that I support and interest me, so I am hoping that spending additional time doing them will fill any gaps or needs.

Financially, I am a typical working class American, and with Social Security benefits and a moderate or live within your means lifestyle it should be OK.

If I need to work, I could get a part time job at a course like @tdroma98 or @Rob Person which would also keep me outdoors, interacting with other people, and on a golf course.

I know that the U.A.W. had a VW plant targeted to see if the employees would be interested in joining their ranks.

Was it your plant? Any idea on how the voting may have turned out? They tried previously and both other attempts had close voting, but majority ruled as no U.A.W. representation.

Just curious, as living and working here in the Motor City area, I have seen and experienced many events with the U.A.W. and the automotive companies, both good and not so good.

The vote is taking place this week and ends tonight, we should know the results in the morning. My intuition is leading me to think they'll get in as we had about 55% sign cards to allow the workers to vote on it.

@Steve F At least you HAVE a team. As of yesterday, the NHL approved the dissolving of the Arizona NHL hockey franchise and reforming it in Utah. 

That sucks, there is no other way to put it. But, bring on the second season! There is no better time to watch hockey than right now!!!!

I think this is an option to moving your garage door opener unit.

Thank you for sharing! There’s something heartwarming about reading about someone who’s been passionate about their work for so long and is entering a new stage in life. I wish you the best and I’m excited for your next endeavors! Hopefully golf is a frequent endeavor!

In my garage I removed it on the side I set the net up on .. was actually pretty easy. (Tip: tag the wires on both ends before disconnecting).

My bugaboo is ceiling height--I max out at 3-hybrid.  3-wood and driver will knock my ceiling. =( good iron practice, I guess!

Good evening spies!

Well plans to get a long practice session in at the range and chipping and putting greens this afternoon were shelved, as I've managed to pick up a muscle strain in my back and shoulder. Swinging the club isn't comfortable so it's enforced R&R from golf for at least a couple of days. It did mean I got to spend plenty of time becoming familiar with the new Odyssey putter. Really happy with it so far. Putted on the indoor contoured green at the sim place I'm a member at and at home on my garage putting mat. Feel off the face is very nice. The deeper head shape and added weight is nice and the alignment aid as helpful and effective as when I tested similar models. I was going to switch the Toulon Design grip out to keep it pristine, but I quite like the feel of it so far. Ha ha. It's thicker than the Jumbomax JMX Pistol Pro grip I've been enjoying on my Sik putter and I do have a spare ready to fit. Decisions decisions... lol. I'll stick with the Toulon grip for the first couple of rounds and some more outdoor putting green practice before making any decisions.

On the plus side, the new Sqairz Velo shoes are in so I can crack on with the test after an unplanned delay. They look and feel class. Initial fit is great. Good toe box width and very comfortable walking around the back yard in them. If I'm recovered enough by Sunday morning, I'll be trying them out on the course walking 9-holes. If I don't play, I have the next 9 booked for Thursday after work, so hopefully I'll be fine by then. Anyway, I'll save the rest for the test thread.

@rkj427- congratulations and best wishes for your upcoming retirement!

@Josh Parker- nice work on the deck! Looks  great.

@Wheelieb- I hope the scan results are as good as can be expected. I have regular scans and scopes to check diverticula I have and to check for 'stuff' not coming back. Here's to good news!

Morning all, an early start today on the first of 7 duty days

Hopefully I’ll still be able to get some golf in but my options could be limited. At least the weather is fine, if a little cold.

I’ll be honest, I’m a tad frustrated with the weather. It’s dipped into colder temps, and sunny/cloudy days have given way to rain. I hate cold rain. I might have to recalibrate my dream of playing a beautiful course in Scotland someday.

All this to say that I might be back at the indoor range next week. There’s a lyric from Queen’s song that runs through my mind about the sim range:

I want to break free from your lies
You're so self satisfied, I don't need you
I've got to break free

That’s a bit dramatic, but I can’t help but think I’m pretending golf when I’m playing around in there. Still, it’s a workout of sort, and I’m paid through the month.

100% with you there. It was feeling a lot like summer and the last week has been ... not fun. 

Hoping for a little turn in the weather and back to what I would consider more normal temps.

Totally agree and same here. Nice and sunny with blue skies but it’s only 4 degrees

Got kind of lucky.  The weather in unseasonably warm in Asia this week. Almost mid Summer type weather compared Canada right now.

Was able to modify my WITB over the Winter with some MGS recommended pieces.  Now I am less all Team Titleist and liking the changes.

This is a great news bad news sort of post. 

I haven’t kept up with the NHL. Losing the Thrashers can’t be great—and I’ve always wondered how the southern teams fared fan wise.

High chance of rain today which is needed, but it's putting a damper on any golfing.  Wife and kids are down at the coast for SandFest (2 story sandcastles) so it may be golf and soccer on the TV today.  Tomorrow's weather is looking better, so hoping for at least one round this weekend.

Good morning my spies… May your Saturday be a day of bliss and downright fun. Instead of Saturday, today is Satanday for me. I am being forced marched to a material’s presentation. If I somehow manage to survive “cloth camp”, we will grab a late bite near the beach overlooking the GOM. The really, really BIG special couples event is this evening. I am slightly interested in finding out if I am still alive and relatively sane come Sunday morning.  
   Yesterday was a lot of fun…. NOT.  
DID you know that porcelain is made from paste, me neither. DID you know that there are at least two different kinds of porcelain paste; hard and soft, me Neither.  Do you really care how porcelain is made, me NEITHER. 
 I am trying to find small pleasures where I can. So far this has been the best

Again my friends, what doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger or possibly it just makes  you cry?…..Oh and @EnderinAZ glad the medical procedure went well. Golf before May, good for you.

@berkeleybob, @Northern Monkey, and @GolfSpy_APH we are right there with you as far as the weather conditions.

Rained here towards the end of the week, and now high today of mid 40's or 7 C with very cloudy and windy conditions.

Supposed to get to low 50's tomorrow and I have a round scheduled at a local course but not the track I usually play.

Need to do some things around the house today, and also have plans to head to Carl's Golfland later to use their covered tee box range.

Hope that your day is the best it can be, and that something enjoyable is in your plans.

Good morning spies. Overcast day today, and chance of rain after 2 pm. We are hosting the ASUN championship tournament today and tomorrow.  Over 200 players for 2 days. The odd part is that they are still going with a 9/9 format on 1 course for the public side. Hopefully they blocked turn times out this time!

Good morning everyone! 

The coffee is flowing this morning in an attempt to liven me up as I'm dragging a bit this morning. I shouldn't be since I have a round scheduled in about three hours and I'm excited to get on the course. 

@Dead Solid Bogey that anti theft device would work on this Gen X'er as I've never learned to drive a manual. There were repeated attempts to make me learn, but they never stuck. I found it as difficult as shallowing and getting my weight properly transferred. You might also have to throw in a pinch of ball first contact to that recipe to season it right.

@sirchunksalot @Dead Solid Bogey Gen Xer here, grew up on automatics in the flat Midwest. After moving to hilly San Fran, I ended up learning to use a manual for the first time—in a U-Haul truck. It was pure baptism by fire. Now I dread the day manuals will no longer be available.
