Haircuts - Short or Long

How many of ya'll cut your own hair?   I've tried to trim mine a couple of times and boogered it up good!  I suppose having the proper clippers might help however I'd still be afraid to try again after I screwed it up so bad.

Used to when I was on a ship. No time for the barber. Just a zero all around. Twice a week.

Tried cutting it once many years ago. I looked like a “Squirrel on Crack”, never again.

I used to cut mine with the same clippers I used to groom the dog. Now it's the barber shop. (Not a salon)

I cut my own hair every few weeks. I have a high and very tight with a moustache. Typical kinda firefighter look lol. Working on letting the top grow longer it's hard since I'm going bald and graying now, also 29.

Just got mine cut a couple days ago, was getting pretty shaggy about 5-6 inches on top.  Now #4 on the sides and back and about an inch or so on the top.  Hate going to get my haircut....

It's funny how I notice the majority of the older men at my gym have that little worn spot on the crown of their heads.  Very few have a full thick head of hair. Get ready all you young bucks out there cause it's coming.   Vanity is fleeting.....

I don't cut my own hair. I probably could, as it's just a 1.5 attachment on the clippers. I just go to the barber and get it done.... plus, he shaves the back of my neck.

My wife cuts mine.....we used to own and run a couple salons. Now, both retired, she cuts it in the kitchen.

My wife's a hairstylist... I get what she wants! I tell her, “Just cut it how you like it.” She actually does change it up. She's very good at what she does, so I'm always happy!

Usually, over the spring/summer, it's about a 1-2 on the sides and back, about a 6 or a little more on top, blended around my wave. Winter I just let it go until I can't take it anymore. But this year, for two reasons- 1: my nephew doesn't know what hockey hair is- seems to think it's like that Bieber/Rickie mop from a few years ago, and 2: Mom would never let me get one when I was a kid, I decided it was time to rock the mullet.

 

It will soon be making the transition from "wicked" to "glorious".

Just cut my hair today... my normal fall is coming haircut. I let my hair, what's not receding, grow until spring. Can't let the sides grow too much the wings get annoying. Been cutting my own hair for about 3 years.

Can't remember if I've replied to this before, but high-n-tight Marine Corps style for me thank-you! Straight razor to the back of the neck with hot foam too please! Been cut that way for nearly 33 years now and I don't see doing it any different...ever.

Until recently, I'd have worn Bob Marley dreads, which look good in white anyway, if it meant that I could have hair.

Now, I'm content just the way I am.

 

The military hair cut that they gave me nearly fifty years ago isn't something that I'd ever consider, #9.

The Army literally transferred his recruiter because they knew I was looking for him.

But he got through his service fine, and more remarkably, so did his mother and I.

My great aunt--my maternal grandmother's baby sister and my mother's youngest aunt--

was the music director at the Atlanta Boys Club back in the 50s and 60s.

Italian ladies must have seemed different to the boys down in Atlanta.

 

After her husband died young, she started coming North in the summer and stayed with my grandmother on the shore.  It was cooler than the Peach State.

Summertime in Georgia is no joke and I always go with a short haircut to help battle the heat.  Today I am going to get my annual buzzer job for upcoming July & August.  I like the short cut style because I wear all sorts of headgear to protect my face.  The less hair packed under those nogging covers is good IMO.  Do you cut ya hair during hot months or do you prefer the same style year round?

 

I have the same haircut pretty much year round.  Very short on the side and short on top.  The only thing that changes is the amount of times I hit my barber up.  In the summer its every three weeks.  In the winter, I'll go maybe once a month since it seems to grow at lot slower in the winter.
