Today I played the Bridgestone RXS with the Mindset logo. Concentrated on the green dot…..played one ball all day and only got a tiny insignificant scuff on the first hole. No birdies but had 3 lipouts.

WHS cut this week takes me down to 7 strokes. This is my only round this week, off to Cyprus. Started an easy game thru 1st 5, even in 20mph wind. Then slowly but surely the wheel nuts loosen, by the back nine the wheels totally fell off and penalties and 3 putts took over.

We went out to a new course today. The Golf Club Star Ranch is a nice course that is in excellent condition. Shot 1 over and could have been much better. Hit shots over three greens which cost bogeys. Hit 11 fairways and 11 greens with 31 putts. Longest drive was 317. Had 3 natural birdies and 4 net. Rating was 67.2 and slope was 118.

It's one of the best kept public courses. Has some great scoring holes and some that can test you. 

Is it 15 that is the short par 4 with pond left and behind the green?

Yes you have to place the drive then hit uphill over the pond and stone wall to a narrow green. There is water on seven holes and like 68 bunkers. Like you said, some holes are very gettable and some you have to be careful. It’s in great shape!

Very good round for early in the season. Short game  working well, putter red hot, 30 putts for the round with 6 one putts and no 3 putts.

Not great not bad round. Had the course to myself as I played right after the rain had ended. Just over 3 hours walking/carrying.  Rain showers went by the course all round me but only got a few drops on me. Winds were tough on a links course and fairways were slow and wet.  34 putts

I really enjoy this course and can’t wait until we get into the spring growing season so it can fill in a bit.

very wet and windy and cold. 40 some degrees with a club wind and varying parts of rain. Snuck this in before work in 3hr and 15 mins. Couldn’t get a par for the life of me on the back nine. Burned 2000 calories walking according to my watch.

At the start of every year I usually play better than expected for the first few times out, and then it suddenly goes bad for a couple weeks. This like, like always, I played reasonable for three 9 hole rounds. Today was my first 18 of the year, and I was hoping to avoid the drop. The first two holes went well, then the drive on 3 was left, but OK. I had overhanging branches, but I thought I was clear based on my practice swings. Nope, caught them badly on the real swing, and it all went downhill from there. I had some good shots, but when I started playing "today's swing", and taking extra club, I got my good swing, and went long. (That does tell me a lot.) I hope to keep this year's "opening slump" as short as possible.

One of my better driving days off the tee. Recently, my back has tightened up and the last round or so I have seen a lot of pulls to the left as I can't generate any lag. But today, I was a lot freer off the tee. That meant the Taylormade Qi10 Standard was awesome. 243 was the best of the day.

Missed getting my first birdie of the year by leaving the putt around half an inch short on the par 3 9th, and made it through 14 holes with the same ball, so although the score doesn't reflect it, it was a good round for the second of the year.

I play the golf tees:  Rating 67.7 and Slope 124.  

Today was my first official day utilizing the Bridgestone Mindset approach.  Though I didn't score as well as I liked, there were some interesting numbers.

Right off the top, I hit all but one fairway.  The one miss was by only about a foot into the first cut.  To put that into some perspective, my percent fairways hit so far this year is 72%. 

My greens in regulation were only 11%, which is typical for me.  However, I only had 50% of my approaches short (versus typically 67%) with more shots long, left or right. 

My putting was decent with only 26 putts and no three putts.  I used the Mindset graphic to help align my ball to the desired path.  The 26 putts is about two putts better than average.  More signficantly, was the fact that I made about 60 ft. of putts versus the 40 ft. average over my last 15 rounds.  

My former head of operations used to say, "once is an accident, twice is a coincidence and three times is a trend."  What we have here is an accident!  Hopefully, it's an accident that becomes a trend!

I'm off until next Tuesday, so I'll have to wait almost a week before I try again.
