#COBRACONNECT Challenge 4

Man, I don't know how I missed this thread altogether. Just finished reading through it all and it's hilarious! Sorry, but I'm not a fan of Boston area teams. The Celtics gave the Hawks problems when we were decent, the Pats played the Falcons in a big game once (don't wanna talk about it), and I'm actually ok with the Red Sox. Was a huge Nomar Fan when I was a kid and I got to watch Michael Chavis a lot when he was in high school. Great kid that I hope does well. Still, can't root for another Boston title. Based on the answers to earlier questions, I'm stuck between @daviddvm and @GB13. I'll have to make a final decision soon.

Nice, I went for the tour length F9 and it is the best driver I have had. Long and a fairway finder.

I will be interested to see what combo you guys go for at the top of the bag, driver, fairway and hybrids or no hybrids or no fairways. The options are endless but the results will be awesome!!

I agree with you about liking the carbon fiber top line, I think it’s a cool visual. And even if it isn’t your thing, I can’t imagine you’d notice it after a few swings.

I think the infinity face makes it possibly the best looking driver on the market.  
And I keep hearing nothing but raves for the SZ Extreme.  From players of all levels. 
 

This is going to be a special challenge for sure. 

I can’t wait to get my hands on the SZ, I think Cobra really broke through into the driver scene with the F9, and they made one of the best drivers of last year even better....

I predict some BOMBS!!

I was convinced I would do the yellow colorway, but the matte top on the white option screams "stealth bomber." 

Tour-length is my likely choice as well. Since I chopped my Epic Flash down to around that length a few weeks ago, my driving has improved considerably.

That rear end just looks fast.

Glad to see another vote for the Tour-length!

I'm debating about a no fairway wood lineup. I think I could go with the 17 and 19 degree hybrids before transitioning to the SZ 5-iron at 21 degrees. I would definitely be interested in try a 5W though, to see if they are as easy to hit as everyone says.

My g30 5 woods is one club that I feel comfortable working both ways off the tee and it’s lightyears better for me out of the fairway for a long approach shots than a 3 wood.

The big question for @edingc is tour length SZ or SZ Extreme? Does he want total adjustability or partial?

That's a great question.  I think extreme would be a closer fit to the Epic Flash already in the bag.  A good fitting should clarify that for us in the peanut gallery.

I'm anxious to get back on a Trackman and find out. When I was fit for for the HZRDUS Yellow in the Epic Flash last summer, I was slightly negative with my attack angle and averaged right around 100 MPH. I'm hoping to find that I'm more neutral, if not up, now and faster. But we'll find out! My miss is low heel, so the SZ Extreme seems like it may be the better choice, at least when I'm just eyeballing it.

Through my fitting, I ended up with the 5w over a hybrid or 4i due to how easy it was to launch.

I have it set at +1.5 to have it fly higher and land softer which really helps for long par 3's or those approach shots on par 5's when I can go for the green.

This year I moved to having a 52, 56, and 60 SM7 from my old 54 and 58 on the old Vokeys. I also still have the 50* AP2 Gap Wedge.

I’m thinking of still using this set up as the GW on the Forged Tec is 49 or even having it bent to 48. Then I’ll have 4* of change at the low end of the bag.

In previous years I would use the 58 for almost everything near the green with the occasional GW or 54 thrown in there. But I’m committed to playing better around the green and using the green to nestle shots up closer to the hole.

According to Arccos this year I’ve already used the 52* 22 times versus the 60* 24 times and the 56* 15 times. Last year that probably would have been 90% with the 58*.

After looking at all of options over the past few days, I think a 52/56/60 combo will be what I end up with as well. The SpeedZone gap wedge is 48 degrees, so keeping four degree gaps at the bottom of the bag makes the most sense.

I’m reallly excited to see how the MIM wedges feel. I haven’t seen a lot of reviews on them.

A friend of mine has the King wedges and they sound slightly clicker than the Vokey’s I had. I’m thinking the MIM might have a more dense sound and feel, but that’s pure speculation right now.

As you have seen I'm the only one in this group with cojones enough to put myself in ONE length clubs! But I can't wait to try this. I'm a scientist and just makes a lot of sense to me.

Did you have the option to go with traditional length wedges or by choosing one length were you grouped into having one length wedges as well?

Yep, still using every club from Cobra, other than the driver.

Really loving the start of this new season feeling super confident with all the clubs in my bag. 

My favorite club is still the 56* wedge. The versatility around the green is so vast and I have found that I can easily get the ball to release high or low pending the lie and feel really confident that I can land the ball where I want it to.

I got to play with the MIM during my fitting and am curious to how the new competitors feel about the King Black vs. MIM.

I'm not sure I have any other option but I'm going that way unless during fitting it doesn't work well for me. I currently play 3 wedges 52, 56, 60 and all are 36" shafts so this will not be that big of a change. By the way a fellow named Tiger plays wedges of the same length shafts just different lofts!

I’m really planning on keeping an open mind during the fitting for length. I do need the extra consistency because currently I’m *very* inconsistent with the driver, but again, I’m going to keep an open mind.

I revamped this year from 52/56/60 and went with 50/54/58 and am really enjoying the new setup. 58 is just as versatile and gives me a little bit more distance on the back end but am comfortable adjusting swing to make up the distance. Good luck in your decision.

I'm having a lot of fun playing the F9 one length irons so I picked up a one length hybrid over the weekend.  Love that club!
