Fitting choice question

Recommended Posts

Ah. Great question.  If it’s a driver fitting. I’d do the indoor with ball of choice almost every time.

If an iron fitting, I’d probably still lean that way.  The ball is so important for spin and true feel purposes.   Unless there was major concern about the turf interaction of a particular club.   To me premium ball outweighs grass.  But that’s just my opinion.

I would always pick the outdoor fitting. I want to see what the ball is actually doing, even if it's a range ball. I want to see it and feel it and not just have a machine tell me numbers.

Outdoors. I want to see ball flight and how it changes based on the setup the fitter gives me. Trackman has the ability to normalize which will give the results as if the ball used is a prov1.

Trackman indoors isn’t very accurate even with one’s gamer ball. Only way I would do indoor fitting is if gcquad was being used

I'd definitely prefer to use my gamer ball (or at least a premium ball of any kind), but @RickyBobby_PR has it right. TrackMan and QCQuad have the algorithms programmed in so range balls can be used and still provide comparable numbers to premium urethane balls. It's not perfect, but it's probably as good as you'll get outside of a Titleist/Callaway/Taylormade performance center (i.e. TPI, The Kingdom, etc...).

Id prefer indoors. regardless of the ball. The machines are placed in the perceived weak spot environments.

I would use the track man in door before using the quad outside.

Driver - 44.5" 5.0 flex 10.5 deg Graphite Design XC 6S GP MCC4+ 1 deg closed

Irons - 5-pw, GW stnd length 5.0 flex same grip 1 deg flat. Type low medium offset cavity back, no diggers

Wedges - 56 and 60 tour grind wedge spinner and mcc4+ grip 2 flat 10 and 8 in bounce

Putter - Makefield VS LH

Ball - truvis

Carried in a Sun Mountain C-130 USA bag - BE PROUD.

HC - LH but 85 is a good number, playing in Ohio.

Why when trackman has been shown to be less accurate indoors than gcquad regardless of environment?

I would find hard to believe the trackman is less accurate as a radar unit VS a camera unit  outside. Inside the radar units are impacted by fluorescent lights.

A fix is to layer the cover with metal screen door mesh. This distributes the particles from the lights.
