The Good Morning Thread

Good morning Spies,

Had a rough night last night. Our old dog who is on meds for seizures, had a seizure. It’s the first one in 2 years. He is back to his old self this morning but is a bit tuckered out. The vet says he really doesn’t know he’s having one. After one though he is anxious, confused and just wanders around aimlessly for almost an hour. So we’ll keep an eye on him and give him lots of extra pets and an extra treat or two. Enjoying my coffee has he snoozes a bit. He perks up whenever I move. He’ll get a walk once the rain lets up. Today is winterize the house and yard day. He will get to relax in the yard while we work. He loves to watch the world go by. He loves our neighbors so if they appear he gets very excited and vocal to see them.

Good Morning everyone!  Up at 4:45am... not sure why except it's become routine over the years.  Our tee time is 9:50 and it's raining; rained all night.  It looks like it might let up soon and it's 47º but could get to 60º.  The golf cart cover comes out today!  Only 10 days left for GHIN in our area.

I blame it on the ADHD.... and it prevents the chance of additional chores from the wifey if I stay busy.

Happy weekend morning!

Turning into mild temps here, with only a light overcast; hopefully tomorrow is similar as that is golf day .. today is lunch with the soon to be son-in-law and my wife is almost bouncing off the walls with excitement!!

 

@MattWillGolf I literally feel for you... My old pooch (at the way upper end in age for his breed) had a series of "episodes" which have been managed with a combo of meds and a bunch of supplements, including cbd. Enjoy him while you have him...

You and other pet people know one of the endearing things about old dogs is they don't know they're old, they still think they're puppies!!

Good morning! Getting the pontoon out of the lake today. Always a sad one! BUT it is a beautiful calm cool day so I’m scheming how I can get out and golf. I might have to take both the 6 y.o. & 3 y.o. with me.  Wish me luck

Good morning MGSpies, a quick check-in on a slow quiet morning, band rehearsal this morning for open mic on Monday.  Not much else planned... I'm sure I will get my list when I get home. 

Had a very nice front 9 with the Head Golf Pro at Niagara Frontier GC yesterday and solo back 9.  50s with strong winds but very nice conditions for autumn golf in WNY in November.

Hope golf is a part of your day!

... I feel bad for you guys in colder climates.  Going to be 91* for my round today, then 90's* the next three days. With low humidity I find 80*-90* to be great golf weather.

UPDATE:  I finished making breakfast for my wife and I and the downpour started... loud pelting the aluminum patio roof.  Almost quit, but there is another wave coming around 10am until 2pm.  My wife canceled today's round, and I thought I was the wishy, washy one that doesn't need to play in rain. I don't mind a little drizzle, which is what we usually get.  At least I wasn't the first to cry UNCLE.

Ahh, this is when you really "shine" pun intended... I will be hanging on every "winter" post from you @chisag... enjoy the beautiful weather and those extra 20 yds. of roll off the tee, I had a couple of drives back up on my yesterday lol

Nice day here in The Villages , no golf today , football watching and mowing my neighbors lawn ( wonderful widow that has a bad leg so gotta take care of her chores for her , so y’all enjoy , be blessed and think of others until later

I'm right there with you on that.  Have enjoyed the color change photos but its a high of 77 today and should be low 70's when I tee off this afternoon.

... Those extra 20 yds will be coming in another month or so. Right now we are just out of overfeeding and they water the crap out of the fairways and greens, so there is always a good chance of a plugged drive as well as an iron just short of the green. Not complaining as it is necessary and the warm weather means I can play most every day. I will try and keep up some posts and pictures during the winter for my snowbound spies.

Saturday morning and torn between getting fired up for the tournament today and wanting to stay home break out the new toys and give them ago. Tee time should be in the warmer 70’s with a high in the 80’s. 
    UPDATE: Shot the same as today’s temperature high. Flight wise in a fight for best gross… The boys with the double digit handicap’s brought their A game today…. Net score wise I am looking up at quite a few ahead of me on that score board. 
    Headed back to the house to try out the new toys out  in the back yard. 
  @MattWillGolf hope the pup is better.

     May your Saturday be fun. May your football team win or at least cover. 
May golf make you smile. 
     Remember for those that have to.. Fall back an hour tonight. Don’t need to show up THAT early for tomorrow’s tee time.

@MattWillGolf, I hate hearing that about your pooch. I hate seeing animals go through something like that. Our dachshund occasionally has seizures and I feel so bad for her. Hopefully he'll be back to normal soon and won't have another one for a while.

Thanks so much. He had a good day today. My wife and I did yard work today and he was outside with us. He got to see all of his neighborhood friends and was very happy. He gets very vocal when he sees his friends. It always brings a smile to everyone.

Good morning!  Up way to early but with the time change, is it really....  

Wife has another busy day of showings and I will be on kiddo duty most of the day.  Bike riding at the park and probably the playground for my 2.5 yr old.

Hoping I get a chance to hit the course this afternoon and get at least 9 in.

Good morning Spies! Just getting back from an annual guys golf trip - this time to Southern Pines, NC. Got to play Southern Pines, Mid Pines (36), Tobacco Road (36), and Pine Needles. 
 

Tobacco Road could be one of my favorite courses I’ve ever played, but the overall group was pretty split. Sharing some pictures from trip (and yes, I did get out of that bunker on the first attempt):

Good morning Spies on a foggy Sunday morning here. Looks like about 50 degrees for my tee time, and looking forward to playing, as the season is really starting to wind down here.

A lot of courses only open on weekends if temperatures get to about 50, and the course closest to my house closed the range for the season yesterday.

Hope that your day is the best it possibly can be, that you also remember the time change as well.

For those who haven't taken advantage of the MGS Jones golf bag offer, it is well worth your time to at least look.

I'm just getting the day started with some coffee and snuggle time with the dogs. We had a fun night just getting out and running around for a bit them bringing home dinner from Cheddar's. 

@CFreddie it looks like you had a great time on your buddies trip and thanks for all the wonderful photos. Tobacco Road is one of those bucket list courses for me as it looks to be stunning. I'd probably shoot 200 around there, but I'd like to find out differently.

I'm not going to get into much today after a six day work week, family time is #1 on my agenda. 

I hope each of you have a great Sunday!

Honestly, Tobacco Road was best my day of golf this weekend. Most of the greens are designed to funnel good shots, and we had a ton of close misses. It also helps to play a second time - it’s VERY confusing at first around!

Good morning everyone. Passed on the coffee today and went with a smoothie for breakfast. Just doesn’t hit the same but I like switching it up every now and then. Last day of the tournament and the boys have an early start. Which also means their games yesterday didn’t go so well. Which is a nice way of saying the played like crap . Hopefully an earlier bedtime will help get them off to a better start. Not that I mind getting on the road earlier but it is a lot more fun watching the play well. Hope everyone has a great day ahead!

Good morning spies!!! Last game of our soccer tournament in St Louis starts in 30 minutes, the six hour drive home starts after that. Starting out the day in the mid 30s and sunshine with highs in the low 60s for a gorgeous November day.

Good morning MGSpies from a sunny low 40s WNY and Christopher @CFreddie you played two of the three courses the MGS Forum Meetup in Southern Pines NC played on our weekend in June!  Love seeing the photos of Mid South Club where we stayed (there were no tables on the practice tee box then) and Pine Needles and seeing them in a different season.  Our third round was the last day at Talamore.  Curling is rumored to be starting league play today with the Veterans so it will be interesting to see who is on my team.  Don't forget to change your clocks back in the US and wherever else is doing the change today in the rest of the world.

Heading to Illinois today for my eldest daughter’s horse show with her college equestrian team.  This is a new thing for her as a senior, and she is loving it.  FABWIFE did the horse thing for years too, so she is over the moon.  I am the dutiful father and husband today.  lol.  Look for me in the car working after my daughter’s (brief) exposition.  
 

Fall golf was beautiful but challenging yesterday.  Much soreness today after getting out of the “swing” for a few weeks.  That likely has more to do with all the great bourbon found in Maine when we were there last week.  For those who love it like I do, check out this list!  Best list at a bar I have seen in 20 years, and they had it all!

 

Rock Hill Farms is my all time fave bourbon. Just perfect.  The Weller CYPB was likewise amazing.  I will trade some inflammation for some time with those unicorns.  
 

Anyway, please pardon my digression.  I wish you all excellent Sundays!

Good Morning Spies!

Had a great day yesterday playing a little track called Windy Knoll with my pal @snoopy79. First time we had played there. Very tight little course - some fairways were about as wide as 7’. Some were….weird. But the course was in great shape. The greens keeper must use this time of year to get even with all the golfers who didn’t fix divots during the busy season. Some of the pin placements were next to impossible. The most 3 putts I have had all year. It was like a putt-putt course inside of a golf course. Minus the clown face and windmill of course.

Weather was about as perfect as you could get for November. Just awesome. It was a good day. 

Hope you all have a wonderful Sunday. I’m off to play with the Sunday band this morning, have to set up the drums and then tear down afterwards. Then “band” practice later this afternoon so no golf today.
