Honmas arrived. More pics in my fitting thread

Well there goes my Golf Galaxy gift cards and rewards certificate. After which this putter cost me $18

Posted Images

I just pulled the ultimate club-ho move.
So I need a fairway wood, likely a 5-wood and I really like the Ventus Red Velocore shafts.
I just bought I left-handed, Mavrik 3-wood with a Ventus Red 7S Velocore shaft. I am not left-handed... This was mint condition for $250 shipped. Going to pull the head, sell the head or re-shaft the head with a cheap shaft and trade in the left-handed 3-wood, and then buy the fairway wood that i actually want.

I did something similar to get my M5 and Tensei pro white! Lot left handed but I bought a 9* M6 with the Tensei and sold the M6 head. I ended up saving like $120 on what people are asking for just the Tensei used. Nice work!

Where did you purchase?  I was looking at the same thing at 2nd swing and triple checked about the velocore shaft.   One rep said it was legit and the other two said it was the non velocore version.  The rep that said it was velocore did not seem as sure so just be cautious if it's the same one.  By the way I do this all the time lol.  People for some reason don't understand how easy it is to change out adapters.  Gotta do what you gotta do for the deal.

Also, I hit the Mavrik 3 wood the other day and it's really nice, so don't rule that out.

Yeah, this was from 2nd Swing. I didn't get a chance to get an answer back about whether or not Velocore. I am making the assumption it is Velocore because it is a Red 7S. I have done a lot of research on the Ventus Red since I bought a stock SIM Max driver with the non-Velocore shaft and i recently purchase a Ventus Red Velocore aftermarket. The Ventus Red non-Velocore (i.e. the taylormade made for) only comes in the 50 gram weight class. And the one I bought from 2ndswing is a 7S.

It would also be pretty rare I think for someone to take either a Taylormade made for Ventus shaft or the Tour Exotics "4T Ventus" shaft and throw it in a Callaway, especially for these fairways since they are glued in. That's a lot of extra work for the average person.

Ah - nice work on the research.  You went the extra mile and I did not.  Well you will have an excellent shaft.  I absolutely love the Blue 6X that I have in my driver and had the same thought as you about the Red being a great fairway shaft.  You'll have to keep me posted how it pans out and what type of head you put it in.

Also, 2ndswing has the return policy within 30 days. I think it is technically in-store credit, but you can get back a full refund if they send the "wrong" product. I think you can make the argument that when purchasing a non-Taylormade or non-Tour Exotics fairway wood, you would expect it to be Velocore, so you could get the full refund if it is not.

I think it would be pretty sketchy for a retailer to sell a Callaway with a "Ventus" shaft and it not be a real one because Callaway doesn't have a made for Ventus.

Very satisfied with my 2nd Swing purchases, other than a less than stellar regrip job I have yet to redo.

That said, I just got leftover still customizable F9 Speedback 7i and driver for my wife, off the Cobra website.  They look so good I wish the mens came with these colors 🙂

After seeing this 7i, I'd love to try the speedback irons myself.

So she just wrapped up her women's league round with these.  Initial feedback more distance but a lot of bad shots which may just be her.

No equipment purchases....did a swing assessment done and started developing a plan to improve me game.  Was interesting stuff and based on body mechanics and how your body works.  Best description of the style of swing I should be using:  stack and tilt.   Lots of details on how we came to that assessment but I think it will be a road to improvement in my game.

I have been interested in this.  Where did you do your assessment?

These are just the ones in the boxes. I used to buy releases two at a time, one to rock and one to stock as they say. The closet is too embarrassingly messy to show the rest, maybe when we move 😅

I'm not much of a dew sweeper and by like 8am here most of it is dried up. So, I can't say. I've slipped on the dirt for sure though, but I don't think any shoe would've done well in what I was hitting out of.

You probably know this already but the LH adapter will play different with a RH head. Just a heads-up 🤙🏼. Idk the difference because I'm not much of a club builder but I do know there's a difference and was surprised to find out.

Had to get a pair of the puma golf pants to try. Grabbed a pair in the 5 pocket style and I have to say, these are super comfortable and I’ll be adding some to my repertoire. They have a nice stretch but don’t look as much like a tech pant as my UA pants do. These can pull double duty as casual work pants.

You probably know this already but the LH adapter will play different with a RH head. Just a heads-up [emoji1688]. Idk the difference because I'm not much of a club builder but I do know there's a difference and was surprised to find out.

If I remember correctly, you can swap the cog that moves on the adapter from the left handed to the right handed and come out just fine. The old trick was to take the left handed cog on the right handed adapter and set it to +2 which was actually the revers and -2. Was a good way to get the head to sit way open.

That's a lot of shoe man!

For the club I purchased, its a Mavrik fairway wood, so the shaft is glued into the head, no adapter. If it did have an adapter, I would pull it off anyway.

Right, forgot they went back to glued with the Mavrik.
