Being a father for two years now, I'm still not used to having a day other than my birthday dedicated to me. Though I do have some fun plans this Father's Day!

 

My father and I are going golfing for only the second time since he's just started getting into the game and I invited a couple of my friends because both of their dads live out of town.

 

I'm really looking forward to playing and hopefully the weather allows it, but what are everyone else's plans for Father's Day? Golf? Family time? Fancy dinner? Just relaxing? Either way, enjoy it whether you have kids or not, especially with this US (wide) Open wrapping up!

Started a Fathers Day golf outing tradition many years ago. Been moving around a lot for 8 years. Finally back near the old man so we can play. We played a scramble last year and planned on it this year but one of the guys bailed on us.

 

BBQ is a must.

Church in the morning of course. Golf with my son and a couple of friends in the afternoon, grilled steaks, scotch and a cigar in the evening. We will also be celebrating a friend's 60th as a part of the meal.

Playing for the second year in a row with my 11 year old son in the Father Son Tournament at my club. We play 9 holes with my score counting on the odd holes and his on the even holes. It honestly is the one tournament every year that I look forward to. In a few years I will have a foursome once my girls are old enough to play.

My wife told me this morning she booked me a tee time at nice course nearby. Totally unexpected and as usual I'll be playing with strangers but I enjoy getting out any way possible. A break from the kids is the greatest gift my wife could give me.

to all of you have a great day.. Me, My step-son called me up last week and asked If I would like to join Him and his brother in law and his dad for 18 this morning.. We had a great time. I played the 11 of the holes like crap.. but it was more about us and them then about how well I played.. I did play the last four hole even.. Now I'm watching US Open.. Wife went away to play with her dad so I'm alone..

 

Ice cold beer, Steamed Clams US open. Life is good..

I played a round with some friends who happen to be dads today, and taking my 3 munchkins for some mini golf tomorrow morning.

I knew better than to play today.... it's always "one of those days". Of course we got stuck behind a guy and his dad that was..... let's just say he was awful. Literally 6-7 shots just to get to the green.... even on par 3's. To make it worse, they were sharing a set of clubs. Watching them pass a putter back and forth 10 times a green was agonizing. I had enough after the first 9 holes and I bowed out.

 

I commend all the sons and daughters who take their dads golfing on this day, but it is terrible for anyone trying to actually play. I won't be doing the Father's Day golf thing again any time soon...lol.

My dad passed away about 10 years ago, and I wasn't into golf at that time so we never got to enjoy the sport together. However, the father-in-law does a little golfing. So if the rain stays away we all may go out and play 9 holes.

My dad wasn't really much of a golfer, he has clubs and plays very very very rare occasions, but it is a passion of mine, which I hope I pass along to my daughters.

Every Christmas, a friend and I gift each other a round of golf near a brewery that we want to visit. This was was the weekend we were going to make this happen, so we grabbed a couple other Dads, headed up to The Ridge in Auburn, California (1/2 mile from Knee Deep Brewing and Moonraker) and made a Saturday for the boys....

 

 

 

Along with my best drive of the day

 

 

 

 

And made Sunday for the ladies...

 

 

 

Hope you all are able to make it a wonderful Father's Day!

 

PS- if any of you Sacramento area spies see the No Pho King Way food truck… It's Pho King AMAZING, especially when paired with a brewery... think Vietnamese/pub food fusion like Bhan Mi tater tots and quesadillas

Went with my dad, we both think it will be a new fathers day tradition. I got him the UA golf shirt and my mom got him the shorts, so he wanted to give them a test. Wasnt my best round but sure did enjoy it
