@HDTVMAN There are better fits for your situation than Arccos. I have the Smart Grips and use Apple products which improves user experience. My game has improved using the data, but my areas for improvement are consistent with other 5 handicaps. I don't know if I will renew since I know my weak areas to improve,

Hmmm smart grips are Arccos ?? Thanks..

I’m a hacker who loves nothing more than to change how I play, be that grips shafts and heads its all fair game lol…

@Bang60 My brother gave ClubLinks as a groomsman gift. It was a grand gesture for his golfing buddies, but I lost a ClubLinks every golf season and eventually removed the rest after a few years. I vowed never to get anything resembling ClubLinks again. If the sensor in the Smart Grip fails, you can buy the sensor only and not another grip!

I like the Arccos dashboard and features. Hopefully SC has improved that.

I'm not at all familiar with the Arccos dashboard to make any kind of comparison, but Shot Scope did an update earlier this month and it is fantastic! You can even see SG data for each shot in any given round among many other improvements.

I get that some shots are missed and that the putting green stats need to be edited but I still find it’s great data. Like the new dashboard improvements over the last year too.

So despite the annual fee, I am a fan.

For those of you with the Arccos app .... is there a "driving range" part to it?  Meaning ... what if I wanted to just hit balls?  Can I get just a random set of distances with each club?  Or do I have to be actually playing a round for it to compute?  I'd love to be able to just get out on the range, hit 20 balls with a 7 iron & get an average distance.  Is this possible?  Or do I have to bite the bullet & get a launch monitor?

Unfortunately it's not possible with Arccos unless you walk out in to the middle of the range and tag where your shot ended up.  That could be pretty entertaining though!

From the Arccos website:

The Arccos app and Smart Sensors are designed for on-course use only. We require multiple GPS locations in order to calculate every shot's distance. The Arccos Caddie system cannot be used on the range for the following two reasons:

At a range, there is only 1 GPS position available as the customer is in a stationary position. We track the player through the phone's GPS and do not track the actual flight of the ball.

We do not measure any type of swing analytics such as swing plane, attack angle, ball speed, swing speed, etc.

I agree - the new dashboard both on the phone and PC have huge improvements. The latest app had a few edit quirks but that was corrected a week or 2 ago. My v3 is now 3 years old and going strong. If and when it dies I'll buy another one, especially since the V3 isn't much more than an annual ARRCOS subscription.

And another company joins the Arccos system.

I'll bet the club manufacturers are getting a healthy piece of the annual subscription. As the saying goes - there's no free lunch.

After however many years I am ditching Arccos.

I went to fire it up for the round today and half the sensors were gone and the one cobra grip I had... well it was a fakeout. no sensor in the grip... just black plastic.

So bye bye arccos. I will find something else maybe, but for now back to manual scoring and I am perfectly okay with that.

Well you can always go to the dark side and get Shotscope😛.

Now I'm even sharing it with my instructor as I continue to work on my game.

So for a few weeks arccos was not recording club data to smart distance, which was super annoying. They seemed to have fixed that however after playing today me and my buddy are getting TONS of duplicate shot data in the smart distance club usage page. Anyone else seeing this?

apparently I hit my driver like 100 times on 7 today 🙂

Anybody been struggling with Arccos picking up putts lately? I got it for the 45 day trial and it's been pretty useful already, and most shots are perfectly caught except putting. I think 60% of the holes I usually have to add a putt. Just wondering if anybody has had that on specific putts or in particulars tap ins maybe?

This can often happen because it is sound based. I have even had it where I have been somewhat close to a playing partner with a loud putter and its picked up their putt. Not uncommon at all in my experience!

Ah that makes sense now. If it’s sound based, it doesn’t help to have the Kansas wind whipping around me either. Good to know! Simple enough to add putts at least.

So I've completed my official review and it's about time I start posting in here.

Question for you all...I linked Arccos to my GHIN handicap, I thought.  But, I just logged in to the GHIN site, and none of my Arccos rounds have posted to it.  I can go ahead and post them directly on the GHIN site of course, but I thought Arccos was supposed to do that for me now.  Is there an extra step I'm missing that I need to do beyond simply saving and closing the round?

Thanks.

Yes, if you go activity, click on the “more..” tab. Then it should prompt you to post.  Although, depending on what state you’re playing in, you may not be able to post prior to a certain date.  It’s April 1st here in Michigan according to the USGA.

Haven’t currently used Arccos this season as I still have snow on the ground and the courses haven’t quite opened. Last season was my first time with it and I was really quite impressed, with the data I was given I was able to improve my Handicap by almost 5 strokes, looking to get into single digits this year. My main issues have mostly been the chipping as the sound doesn’t quite register when in the thick stuff. The putter is another one that will sometimes have issues, however since I track with an Apple Watch adding in putts is a super easy process for the ones missed. I will continue to use it this year but will always keep my eye out for more options.

I have 107 rounds recorded with Arccos starting at the very end of 2019. I've used it on and off over the years but definitely not on all of my rounds. The single biggest reason I don't use it all of the time it's simply because of the missing shots. Whenever they came out with the link I immediately picked it up hoping that would solve everything, but I've actually had less luck with that than without it. I've tried different sides of my waistband, clipped to my pocket, inside my pocket… Everything you can imagine. I've used it with both my phone and my watch and I've had the best luck with an Apple Watch although it takes pretty much the entire battery.

It is definitely got better over the years, but it seems like progress has stalled out lately. I'm not sure what's going on with the company but I keep hoping for more updates.

I do have to check it after every single hole because it usually misses at least one shot per hole if not more. I play with Mizuno MP 20 irons I have to say they are pretty quiet at impact. I'm guessing that's why it misses so many shots? I don't know exactly when they updated it but now, if you click edit it will suggest where it thinks you might've had a shot and it almost always gets it right. I'm wondering if there's a way they could build in a feature where you can adjust the sensitivity? It seems like it knows that something happened even if it didn't pick up the shot perfectly. Maybe just seeing the sensor turn on out of the bag? If it picked up shots more reliably, I would use it 100% of the time.

I was trying to look over my stats a bit and I can say it's definitely helped my game improve. Before with my driver, I missed something like 90% of my missed fairways to the left, now it's 50-50 exactly. I've been pretty good with distance control over the years but it's definitely giving me the confidence to take extra clubs more often and I've really done a better job of getting my dispersion more past the hole on average as well.

I have the same issues, but if I just fix this during the round after putting or before the next tee shot, the Arccos works quite well.

I am looking forward to the new golf season and hopefully my stats improve.

I use it similar to you - after every hole I edit the putts and will see pretty quickly if one of the other shots was missed or wrong. Makes for a little more work between holes than I'd prefer sometimes, but there's no way I'd be able to remember all the putts accurately after the round so it's a small price to pay for the awesome data!

I can only speak to the current generation Sensors (Gen 3+) and current generation Link (Gen 2) with my experience of over 2 months:

I received a full set of free* sensors via the Cobra golf promotion ($9.99 shipping charge for full 14 club sensor set) with any club purchase in 2020. The promotion is still going on for both Cobra and TaylorMade as of 4/26/2023.

I haven't had any issues with the sensors/link pairing to my phone, nor have I had issues* with them syncing via GPS (clubs are automatically recorded seamlessly on each shot via the sensor and the link).

I typically charge the link after every round once I get home and haven't had any issues with it picking up shots. I just use the integrated clip on the link and attach it to the outside of my right front pocket (bottom of pocket). It's not intrusive at all to the swing for me nor is it anywhere in my peripheral vision.

The only downside I've experienced is with the actual Arccos Caddy App. The app is required in order to pair Arccos Sensors, Link, and track shots. You have to download the course you are playing prior to the round, but this is very simple. I recommend to do this part while you are on the range at the course warming up since the app tracks you via GPS. The app will auto select the course for you based on proximity, but you will have to manually click "download course" and then once it has downloaded and you are ready to start your round, you just click "start round" in app.

I don't typically check my phone during a round and I don't keep my phone in my pocket when I play either, which is why I never considered Arccos prior to the link coming out. I do keep the app open/running during the round and my phone is either attached to my bag on the outside or its on the seat next to me if I ride. I'm unsure if this is necessary, but it just leaves less variability if shots weren't picked up properly. The app should be intuitive enough to track your shots with proper set up.

There is quite a bit of manual work to be done within the app once the rounds end from my experience. Using my last round as an example, I shot a 69, but the app showed I shot a 74. When checking the actual data, every shot was tracked correctly from tee to approach shots, but the putting wasn't always picked up. This is the same trend I experience with every round, but this was the most extreme variation in score I've seen yet. I think this mainly has to do with GPS tracking when putting off the green/one putts. Nearly every time I one putt, the app gave me two putts automatically. The issue probably lies in the accuracy of the GPS if you are putting from the fringe or something of that nature where you aren't considered on the "green". You can select how many putts you took on the hole after you finish it, but since I don't check my phone, this isn't a feature I used when playing.

I also have to adjust some distances in the app from where I hit my woods, irons, and wedges. I write my distances in a journal whenever I use a club on the course so I can properly track tendencies and distances. It's not an exact science, but it helps with course management when I'm in competitive conditions. With that being said, I record the distances via the Bushnell XE rangefinder in the journal and compare them to the the GPS shot tracking within the Arccos Caddy App. The app was slightly off, ~10 yards less than what I recorded in the journal. Not a huge downside, but if you're looking to see what your average distances are right after a round/strokes gained or lost, you'll have to make a good amount of manual adjustments to certain shots in the app. Again, this is in part to the GPS tracking not being entirely exact to your precise location.

Conclusion:

- It's worth the investment if you have patience

- Get the Link if you don't like playing with your phone in your pocket

- It will require manual adjustments after the round, I think this is unavoidable

- Explore the $9.99 Gen 3+ full 14 club sensor set option if you have a

Been an Arccos user since I bought the 14 sensor bundle in 2019.  It came with a full membership.

Sensors started acting up last yr. Putter sensor was toast early last yr and finally went silent. I limped it along and just manually added my putts for a while.

I finally got 15 new sensors.  3 x 5 packs were less expensive than a bundle or individual sensors. And with my account I got them for 60% discount!

I received them and paired all the sensors, next page is asking me to select 45 day trial membership or pay $179 for the year.

Currently in an email battle w their support over why/why not I should retain my membership after having over $300 invested in the system.

Fingers crossed but it doesnt look like it's gonna go my way. 🤬😥

I've been using Arccos for a little under a month with a handful of rounds in the books. I actually really love it. It's way better than tracking every shot with my phone with the 18 Birdies premium account.

I will NOT be purchasing at the end of this trial. Here's why:

$156/Year is pricing me out. Our golf season here in Utah is April to October. For 7 months and NOT having a monthly option, this is not worth the extra cash over 18Birdies. I already have to adjust the shots for putting and chipping half the time with Arccos manually. 18Birdies comes with WAY more on the additional functionality side of things outside of shot tracking than Arccos. For $99, you can get the whole year and use it when you don't have your clubs with you on vacation. The 18Birdies swing analysis is super fun, but the free social experience is actually way more entertaining than the Arccos experience.

Just my thoughts on this. I walk 90% of my rounds and have my phone on my push cart right in front of me. I use it for GPS already, so clicking "add shot" in 18Birdies is really not more effort.

Sad. I can't do a thing with Arccos until I pay. So, there it goes. Thousands of shots.

nothing against Arccos and to each their own. Arccos is an amazing product with a ton of detail but I use shotscope and it gives me what I want without a yearly membership fee.

not sure if that's an option for you. I switched a couple years ago due to the yearly rate for caddie.

In an unexpected turn of events, they have reinstated my account!  For how long, I don't know. The email was vague but to the tune of:  they were misspelling my email and couldn't locate my account info.

I'd like to thank my mother-in-law, Karen, for the tips on how to deal with customer service. Looks like I got through to a manager. Happy Mother's Day! ❤❤🤣🤣🤙🤙🤙💯💯🔥🔥🔥🤣🤣🥰🥰🤫🤫
