@Cfhandyman Great round partner 👍

I played yesterday and tried to improve Team Commonwealths standing but couldn’t better my score from Monday

@Northern Monkey, Thank you.  It was one of my better rounds.  All we can do is enjoy ourselves, have fun and give it our best effort.  Pity we can’t share a pint afterwards. Hopefully, Team Commonwealth will prevail, but the competition in this bracket is intensely fierce. I.e. Lots of really good golfers

Tough, but fun round with @GolfSpy_SHARK.  Didn't do as well as I would have liked to help out my partner @GolfSpy_APH but it was still nice to get out and play.

I played with the Terra Forza Blue in the bag and hit some nice drives, it's a totally different feel than the White!

Both the USGA/GHIN and R&A are under the World Handicap System (WHS) introduced in 2020.  I looked both and each use the terms course rating (having on decimal point) and slope (whole numbers).

From what I find on the Golf Australia site, they use the terms scratch rating and slope with each being whole numbers.  I did find this article from 2018 explaining the transition from Golf Australia scoring to WHS:  Change from Daily Handicap to WHS.  At a high level, the WHS transition caused Golf Australia to change their course handicap (or daily handicap) calculation and it looks that they choose to maintain some terms (e.g. Daily Handicap) and used "scratch rating" instead of course rating.  Course rating does relate to a scratch golfer's scoring, so that term makes some sense.  Why only whole numbers?  Ease of the calculation?  It's not clear and not really brought up in the explanations I could find.

Played pretty well considering the score, missed 2 eagle putts but from tee to green was pretty good. the hot weather we've had over the past few weeks has really firmed up the course even the greens, even though watered if you would carry your shot to the green you aren't stopping it near the pin or even on the green. Had a good time regardless.

Have a Great Day MyGolfSpy nation!!

Felt like I played a million times better today than yesterday but only 2 strokes better score wise.   The triple on 18 killed me.  Snap hook OB off the tee.  Then played left/right/left golf to the green after letting frustrations get the better of me.

With today being the last day to play in week 1 of the VCT Mid-Year Two Person Best Ball Tournament, we still are looking for six scores.  @dback, @Glenmore5, @GolfSpy_BEN, @IndyBonzo, @MGoBlue100 and @SDunne I still do not have your submitted scores yet.  Play concludes today, but you can submit your scores until tomorrow morning.

For those who have submitted a score and will be playing today, you can submit another score if you wish by Monday morning deadline.

If you at this week's VCT scores, you can see there some good ones!  They have translated into some very competitive and tight two-person best ball scores as well.  Come Monday morning I'll get the remaining scores entered, tally up the best ball results and announce the week 1 winners.  That will start the clock for those winners to get their final week mid-year flight championship final round in!

Good luck everyone!

Played through significant pain, and it shows.  I feel much better today and had a redemption round scheduled and the course closed due to a heavy rainstorm that came through mid morning.  So, this is my very disappointing score.  I apologize to my playing partner @2puttbogey.  You deserve better.

Overall bad round today as I struggled off the tee.   From the tee, three lost balls/penalties .   Approach and short game were good.   Putting was terrible; couldn't get the ball to the hole.

Course was wet and rough hadn't been cut in a while so it was all ankle deep or more so if you missed the fairway it was a search and chunk the ball back into the fairway.

Hoped to get a more exciting course for my round but the mica standby will do. Played well and actually played the front 9 with irons only as I adjust to the new vgI01s. It’s the shorter of the 9s and doesn’t reward driver as much anyways, but ended up being the better half of the round by 1 stroke.

After an 80 yesterday, I had a great round today. I left 4 birdie putts online 4-8in short. I scrambled a little on the back 9 with hitting just off the green but was able to putt or chip.  It could have been one heck of a day and I will take it after yesterday.

Hopefully it helps my partner out!

Solid score if not going to light up the boards. Was getting up and down reasonably well but a couple too many errant approach shots cost me a few strokes. Work to be done on dialing in the 100-120 yard shot into the green.

Played through significant pain, and it shows.  I feel much better today and had a redemption round scheduled and the course closed due to a heavy rainstorm that came through mid morning.  So, this is my very disappointing score.  I apologize to my playing partner @2puttbogey.  You deserve better.

Glad you feel better- it sucks playing injured! I'm sure plenty of rounds were lost around Indy today. I got in 9 just before the heavy rain arrived here.

Mixed round today overall. Driver performance was erratic (could not keep in bounds both ways) but everything else saved my round (including Chewie the DF3). We’ve had a ton of rain in GA the last few weeks so it was challenging to get any run out on fairways (many times drives would fully plug into ground 😬).

2nd round of weekend - driver performance was even worse than day before. At the turn, I switched to 3W off the tee to much better results (go figure) - really need to figure out my driver before company tournament next month. 😡

With apologies to @Golf2Much and @William P this was a solid round.
IMG_3195.jpeg

IMG_3196.jpeg

I was cruising along, making pars and 2 over until I got to the par 3 14th. It is only 125, so I played a pw and hit it to 3 feet.
IMG_3185.jpeg

The par 5 15th saw my best drive of the day

IMG_3198.png

along with a 9 iron to set up a 60 yard 3rd shot that I pitched to 9 feet and another birdie.

A good drive on 16 left me 75 yards out, so a nice 58 wedge in to 7 feet produced the third birdie on the bounce.

IMG_3191.jpeg

a par save at 17 left me going into 18 with a chance to break 70. On in 2, with 15 feet to go, and I guess the moment caught up to me, because I left that putt 2 feet short and brushed in the par putt to finish -1 70.

I put a new (to me) set of Ping Blueprint S  irons into play today and now I’m wondering why I waited so long to get them. They were flat out awesome.

Awesome round!

Shot an 81 on Saturday, and a 95 on Sunday. That's a good encapsulation of the state of my game right now.

@SDunne will you send me a photo or electronic version of your scorecard?  I need your hole by hole score, hole index and par so I can add it to your partner's score.

Thanks!
