Played in our Men's club weekly tournament and shot a very good round of 75. I had one birdie and four bogeys. 10 GIR, 11 fairway hit and 31 putts. Finished tie for second in my flight. I also had CTP on one par three.

Great day at Wild Horse, even if it did rain for the first 9 holes. The first 5 were really wet but the Mizuno rain gloves I bought were money. Got off to a hot start despite the steady rain at the start and was -1 through 7 but had a hard time finishing and made some bogeys that should have been pars. But for this course, 78 is a really good score.

Played after we had a very rainy start to the week, and although there were some spots with standing water or very soggy ground, the course wasn't too waterlogged.

Wind picked up during the round, and it actually aided me for my long drive of the day.

Shot a 76 with 10 of 14 fairways, 11 of 18 GIR and 2 natural birdies. 1 of the birdies came on a handicap hole for me, so adjusted score would have made an eagle.

Some pictures below, showing ho0le 2 with a 3 some ahead of me, but much to our dismay, the next hole, a par 5 seemed to have a "back-up."

Last couple pictures are holes on the back 9 and it did open up after making the turn.

Hoping to get another round in tomorrow, as my weekend again is filled with prior commitments.

We also solved the mystery of the 420 drive from yesterday. We all agreed that someone hit my hall without verifying it was his. We both play Srixon but he didn’t check the markings. So my long drive that day would have been 290, not 420.

I think playoing in the rain is mostly played in your head.  Ignore the WX while swinging just be sure to make the proper adjustments 1st.

Having two rain gloves was huge. Other guys in the group were struggling with wet grips and one bare hand. Made a huge difference.

When it's hot and humid I wear a rain glove on my right hand in addition to a regular glove on the left hand.  I cut the fingers of the glove off at about half the length of each finger.

The Srixons must know that I'm doing the PXG testing because they decided to show up today!  I wish I could say the same for my putting. I missed so many birdie putts just short or lipped out.  The mini is proving to be a worthy purchase.

Thanks!  I left a lot out there with putting.  It's hard when each green runs different speeds and even different hole locations run so different.

Birthday round this morning.  Had a week off - been on vacation last week up in Northern Minnesota.  Played the front +3 with a double to start.  Back ate me up.  54 degrees and windy.  New redesign of this course and my first time playing it.  Gonna be nice.  John Daly is credited as an architect.

2 shots OB off the tee never looks great and certainly didn't help the scorecard. Found myself in a record 6 bunkers in a round and in enough trouble in other spots on the course

My back is getting better and my swing came around on the back 9 for a 41-38-79.  It was a beautiful day, and not being drenched in sweat helped too.  If only a few more birdie putts would have fallen.  No complaints though!  It was a great time.

Cooler day than usual for Western Nebraska but the weather made for a very comfortable day. Only misted off and on which while mildly inconvenient, wasn’t really all that bad. A couple unforced errors led to double bogeys but three birdies kept me in it. Was one of those rounds where it could have really low or really bad and I finished somewhere in the middle. Can’t really complain but hard to overly happy with the results too, lol.

After a week of very mediocre play, I played after a lesson with immediate dividends.  Short game and putting (30 putts with 6 one putts, 3 birdies) saved me (again).

First round today since I hurt my back. Wife told me to take it easy. I actually decided to go back to the basics and be more deliberate. Tweaked my grip and setup. Had to swing more efficient because of my back. Man did that workout! Sorry @Preeway should have had this round last week! Blue tees, rating 69.1 and slope 123. Had a clean card. Hit 13 fairways, 14 greens and had 27 putts. What a great afternoon!

I'm in Taiwan for a golf trip and played 3 rounds. (I'm only posting my best round. )

The weather in Taiwan is SWELTERING right now. I thought Singapore was bad being 1.3° north of the equator, but Taiwan has been brutal these past 3 days. And that heat really sapped me of energy to swing a club and focus. We played (in order):

• Chang Gung GC (長庚)
• Sunrise G&CC (揚昇)
• The Orient G&CC (東方)

I'll have to do another trip report post, but to quickly summarise, Orient was in the best condition and we had the best weather (overcast for the back nine which helped keep the temp down). All the courses had a plethora of flora and fauna to gawk at, including the golden neck egret. Unfortunately, those were birds and not birdies.

My driver was completely misbehaving, and I took my medicine for the first time and used 3W from the 4th hole onwards. Wedges were on fire, giving me 6 looks at birdie (only managed to convert 1). There was also a chip-in from 22 yds to save par! 

On the 16th, we had the course's mascot come over to watch us tee off:

As we were chipping onto the 18th green, the skies opened up and it started to pour. I had better ball-striking on the back, but I scrambled better on the front. Resulted in a 42-44-86 and a new lowest differential for the round!

Very happy with this round and a great way to close out our Taiwan golf trip!

I won’t be back at this course for a long time, assuming it will take several year to get course back in good condition. Until then, I played the course extremely well but missed a lot of birdie putts really close. Was the story of my trip. Time to get to the practice green and work on a few things with my stroke. Overall, a good, but not great, round of golf today.

Another tough day on the course, wind 20mph gusting to 40mph, greens firm and fast, really difficult to hold the greens. GIR 11% but chipping and putting was really good. With the wind Holes 1, 9, 13 and  really playing like par 5s, I couldn't reach them with a good drive and 3w. On the 18th which is an exposed tee, it was tough just to stay over the ball without getting blown over. Putted great on the front 9, even for the bogeys I shaved the holes. Went a bit cold on the back and 11 was me being greed with a chip and failing short. Ended up in 2nd place for the comp and a cut from 8.3 to 7.9.

Pretty ho him this morning.  Did snake in a putt on 18 from the fringe for my only birdie.  Few up and downs. Lag putting was solid.
