What Have You Bought Lately? (CHA - Club Ho's Anonymous)

So I've had my Ping Tour W for a year but not used it as yet, looking for a Gap wedge so thought about lowering loft 3 deg but before I do that and stuff a nice wedge decided to have a hit yesterday. Surprisingly easy to hit and liked it because it reacted better off the face than the Mizuno Tzoid I've been using, now I don't know how but I was hitting it very low which I can't do or if I tried to I shanked every strike so is this particular wedge designed to work like that? Now everything went straight right and wonder if that's a character of this wedge which means I'm aiming center of green and ball goes 5metres right, plus the steel shaft is "asending weight" whatever that means so if someone is using one of these I'd appreciate your feedback....

Tour Edge is legit. I've tried a few from their Hot Launch line (used to be labeled "Bazooka") over the years and those were a little too SGI even for me, but the current E series are great - demoed a 7i and liked it.

I still carry an EXS 7W (not sure the year it's from?) and .. once I learned to hit fairway woods .. has become a go to club for me in the right situations.

Previous Gen rtx zipcore 46.  Brand new.  It's a little close to my PW at 44 but the gapping works really well from a PD/GI pitching wedge to a blade wedge.  I've been mulling a shift from my Mizuno wedges to the zipcores.  The Mizuno's are great but that added bit of forgiveness in the Zipcores with the blade look might be a better fit.  Something about the Srixon/Cleveland brand just works for me.   I may be in here announcing a new 52 and 56 pretty quickly if I hit it during actual play like I did at the range today.    

 

 

So yeah...  After a full round a couple practice rounds and some range time I've developed a trust in the zipcore 46 that I just don't have in the T22s (which are great when I'm playing well, but terribad when I'm terribad.)    So... now have a RTX zipcore 50 on the way to replace my T22/51.    I mulled the idea of switching out the T7 55, but of my three wedges its the one that's lights out for me so no sense in messing with a good thing.  Plus the T7's wider sole is more beneficial for around the green stuff.  After a little bending I'll be playing a 47/11 51/11 & 55/9.

I tried it with the medium version a couple of months ago.  I use midsize or jumbo depending on the manufacturer, but the medium was just a little too big. I would be interested in the results with the XS, so please let us know how it goes.

I have midsize grips on my woods now. 

I tried one of the first iterations of Jumbo grips back when they didn't have XS or maybe even small. 
I wear a ML glove and am about 1/4 - 1/2 inch away from being able to barely palm a basketball. 
The M grips I got years ago were way too big; my fingers and heel pad were probably 3/4 of an inch away from each other.
Their online site fit me into a small but the nontaper doesn't have small so I went XS.
I figure that it will be a good experiment...

From what I've read some people like them on their woods and wedges. Not so much the irons.
Also - Peter Finch posted a video on switching to these and made a good point. You have to get comfortable holding them more in the palm than with regular grips.

So I won an auction on eBay Saturday for a new Mavrik Max HeavenWood for $37(!!!) plus another 13 for shipping.

I’ve never hit a HW before, but from what I’ve read it might be a pretty cool club to fool around with, especially at the price I got this one for. @Rickp you might want to check these out? He has them in LH only and I think Callaway stopped making them in lefty after this model was released.

For those like me who don’t know, this HW has 20* loft, the shaft is the length of a 4W, with a 3w sized head. That’s not confusing at all, is it?

I’m hoping to get about the same distance as a 3H, but with a lot more height rather than roll out. Basically a club for when I need to carry a ball about 175-185 in the air, either over water, a hazard, or trees. I’m not the best at hitting fairway woods, but this thing looks awfully easy to hit at set up.

Any thoughts from guys who play/have played a HW?

Yup, picked up an older Cally 23* HW.  Even though it’s at least a decade old it was in great condition.  Only drawback is it doesn’t like tight lies, it wants some grass under it.  I don’t remember how much I paid for it guess $50 ish.  
Don’t remember where I bought it probably Rock Bottom Golf.  I think you’ll be happy with it.

Yes. Theyre fantastic clubs and are about as long as a 5 wood with higher trajectory and easier to hit due to loft. I bult one with a 20 degree matlby 5 wood and 42.75". My dad plays Callaway steelhead  XR HW and its his go to club. Give it a go. 

Same distance as a 19* hybrid but much nicer flight and seems easier to hit straight

Others, You can buy this and pull the shaft and put in one that matches you. The head is the same for male or female

My golfing buddy had gone to X-Golf last week, and convinced me to join him today to play. 

I ended up not liking it all. Feel like I was actively getting worse as we were playing. The results seemed to be all over the place, not that I’m consistent but I couldn’t get even close to my usual yardages. It was also pretty expensive, compared to renting a Trackman at Golf Galaxy.

That polo is something though I have a shirt with Corgis and flowers on it so I am not sure I can say much
