That happened to me a month or two ago. I just figured it was operator error vs a watch issue. Let us know what SS says.

Will do. Also, I was using firmware 2.1.84. I noticed after I uploaded my round there was a new firmware 2.1.85 (no clue what was fixed).

I got prompted to update the firmware after uploading my first round of the week on Thursday. I did not receive an email, and I have seen nothing that says what the update adds or fixes. I did play with it unlocked yesterday, Friday, with no issues (I find it much easier to use unlocked).

Another plug for SS’s phenomenal customer service. I wanted to add my new putter to my bag, and SS did not have the particular model in its database. Emailed them yesterday morning, and they had it added within an hour. Top notch.

@PhilM75072 After seeing your post about the firmware update, I decided to sync my X5 again and got the prompt re the update. I likewise have not received an e-mail about this update, nor been able to find out what it fixes. Assume there will be some sort of announcement soon, as SS usually does a good job communicating.

Considering picking up shot scope especially to learn more about dispersion with different clubs. I saw with the mystrategy piece you could plan on a course but all I saw was with similar handicap levels. Is it possible to take out everything but your own shots? Especially as I'm playing my home course more often, would love to be able to see all my shots on each hole to plan better.

And along those lines, if I'm playing a new track, can I lay my specific dispersion pattern over that course to plan beforehand?

How do you see club dispersion on Shotscope? I know the performance average, and where you can view each hole tee and approach shots, but is there a way to view dispersion for each club?

If you go on the dashboard, rather than the app, then select course analysis you can see your dispersion there

If you go to the dashboard, and look at tee shots,  it will tell you the dispersion pattern for tee shots.  You can limit to specific clubs or look at all tee shots.

For approach shots,  go to approaches and then you can limit the approach accuracy graphs by distance.  Or you can look at proximity by club.

The above is overall performance.  What @Northern Monkey mentioned is specific to the course.

Potential Firmware Issue Alert! Gavin_Shot_Scope
For the second consecutive time, I've encountered a technical issue with my X5 device. My home course features three separate 9-hole courses, and today, after completing my front nine, I inadvertently selected the wrong course for the back nine. Despite quickly rectifying this mistake, I observed an unusual delay in loading. To address this, I decided to end the round and start a new one, ensuring I selected the correct course.
Upon uploading my round, I expected to see two separate 9-hole rounds, which I intended to request to be combined into an 18-hole round through customer service. However, only the back nine was displayed, and it seemed to have been partially uploaded twice, with one upload containing holes 1-7 and the other containing holes 6-9.
This experience is reminiscent of a similar incident from last week. However, while I initially suspected user error, I am now confident that this issue was not caused by me.
Although I trust that customer service can restore my round (I have already emailed them about this issue), I can't help but wonder if there may be a firmware issue at play here.
Has anyone else encountered a similar issue?

Following up on this post.

Shot Scope was able to restored my round as a full 18 hole round. Interestingly customer service said “the issue was actually caused because the watch was worn on the driving range and then putting green. The shots are all captured and it confuses the system as it’s trying to allocate those shots to a hole”.

Because I wanted to ensure no GPS issues, I acquired a signal about 15 minutes before my tee time and paused tracking while warming up on the driving range and putting green.

I hope this issue can be fixed in a future firmware update

Shotscope actually instructs you to start the round when you arrive to the course, since it can take a few minutes to acquire the signal. (With my old Garmin watch, which had the same issue, I would always forget to do this and would almost never capture my opening drive as a result.) Perhaps they should add an additional prompt to actually start the round after you've gone through selecting the course, tees, etc.

Thanks -I was aware of the data by round but was looking for the cumulative GIR. I can't recall see the total GIR per course or based on the various cuts 1,5,10, etc.  Maybe that doesn't exist?

On approach shot page it is the green success chart.   It provides an overall percentage, by club, by lie, and you trend over time.

Sorry if I misunderstood @cnosil has highlighted how you can see it overall. Use the Performance page, and then approach. You can select your time period by last 1,5,10, 15 rounds or by year

@tony@CIC  On the Approach page, Approach Success and Green Success are both shown. Since any shot more than 50 yards, excluding tee shots on par 4s and 5s, is considered an "approach" shot (unless marked provisional), those two stats can be different. "Green Success" relates to GIR.

Nice discount! I might be interested in this guy compared to my H4. If the V5 auto-tags each club, and does so really well, I might make that switch.

That's a pretty substantial discount - wonder if there's a new version coming out?

The V5 is new, it’s very similar to the X5 but doesn’t have touchscreen.

Hi guys joined the forum to ask this question that's been driving me fricking crazy.

Is there any way to prevent the X5 from turning on accidentally when it's in a pocket of golf bag/briefcase anything and draining the battery between rounds?  It keeps happening i'm pulling my hair out.  My latest attempt was wrapping it in paper towel in a ziploc bag....didnt work.

Thanks in advance

Not that I know of. I’ve found that when it’s off it can be accidentally turned on by catching the crown. The only way I’ve found to avoid it is to keep it somewhere this won’t happen. In my case this is on a shelf at home when not wearing it. If I’m playing 36 holes in a day I have an old cloth glasses case that I hang from my trolley and keep it in there between rounds.
Sorry couldn’t help more

I learned the hard way to have the crown sitting up. Put a fully charged X5 on the counter the night before a game, next morning when I put it on saw I only had 24% - then it dawned on me.

I got the same offer directly from SS being a current user (V3).  Interestingly, it has nav buttons around the watch instead of the touch screen.  I'm not going to like, I'm glad I didn't upgrade to the X5 and stuck with my V3 given some of the reports I've read here.  Curious if the button navigation on this V5 might help with some of the recurring issues the X5 has had.  I'll still be waiting and seeing.  Still love SS though.

For those that use the X5 with the automatic club "tagging," how does it actually work?
How often does it miss shots and you have to add them in manually post round?

I'm looking at the V5 with the discount, but am curious about how that auto-tagging actually does in real life.

I find the auto tagging works really well. I think there has only been once or twice when it hasn’t worked and I’ve used shotscope, V3 and X5, for a few years now.

Tags are registered when the NFC tag is close to the watch band which contains an antenna for that purpose. I've seen posts from a couple of users who have had issues with the tags registering. But I think there was always usually a reason behind it, like not wearing the watch on the lead hand or damaged tags (which rarely occurs), not some routine operational issue. I've had the opposite issue. I'm a person of a certain age (read: OLD!!!) who needs to loosen up a bit before every shot. It doesn't take much, just several casual swings before the real swing. To speed things up, I would start my swings in the background while others play so that I'm ready when it's my turn. But SS records a swing position when it tags the club, not when you hit the ball. That resulted in a bunch of false shots. To counteract that, I will pause the app or swing a non-tagged club I carry for that purpose. I really don't think you need to worry about the tags registering.
