The Good Morning Thread

Wow! Good morning MGS Troops and happy Monday to you’s guys and gals! I woke up late for the first time in forever.

I didn’t realize how tired I am after the Mesquite trip and long drive home. 
I pretty much lounged around all day Sunday after doing all my laundry from the trip to help out the spousal unit. My reward for that is a fitting with the Ping expert at Collindale in Fort Collins. He’s supposedly one of the top fitters according to the spousal unit’s research. We shall see. On another subject, Brun-nasty got his new hockey jersey!

Looks like Lucy is jealous. Bruno is a bruiser though and Lucy, well, she’s a little athletically challenged. No golf for a few days until the snow leaves. After Mesquite I do need a break to recover, and I found that I need to make some adjustments which is why I scheduled a fitting to verify what I need to do. Hopefully it’s just a matter of cutting a half inch off some driver shafts. I was killing the BRNR mini but really struggled with the big boys. I was also smacking the 3 and 4 woods well. My irons were all long so definitely need to figure that out, and I have a gap in my wedges. I need to go 50, 54, and 58. But what I really need is sleep or coffee. The morning ritual with los poopies didn’t cut it this morning. With all that being said, Happy Monday and Happy Birdie Hunting to all you beautiful people!

Good Late Monday Morning Spies! 

Lazy Monday morning. No golf today.  77 degrees & cloudy Central Florida morning.  We are expecting rain today and for temps to get colder this week. 

Busy weekend of Ranger duties.  Shotgun start yesterday morning, followed by a full field St. Patricks Day tourney, so an early start to Sunday and a late finish to the work day.  A Fun day yesterday. Cart girl didn't show up, so I got to be the "Cart Guy" for the afternoon tourney.  (No, I did not have to wear a dress).  Got a lot of compliments though, followed by a lot of laughs. It was fun. New respect for the Cart Girls/Ladies.  

Working from home today and hope to get to the range tomorrow.  It's Club Championship week at our course, so limited golf, but some additional work hours available.

Good Morning! Working has been tough this morning but at least the weather isn't nice. It's snowing for the 2nd day in a row since removing my winter tires

Not a lot on the agenda today other than work. I'm going to start packing and getting ready for our trip family trip to Branson. I'm taking the golf clubs so I need to figure out how to pack them nicely around the other stuff that gets jammed in the van like a game of "Tetris." None of the Big Cedar courses are going to be open yet, but we found a couple of other courses that will be open so we will get some golf in! Spent a lot of time this weekend getting food planning around with the family. Should be a fun trip!

Goooood morning! Been a while since I've hit this thread up, glad to be back and see that everyone is doing well for the most part. 

Feeling mostly refreshed after a cruise last week with my family and in-laws. Got to bed late last night after returning home 3:00 Sunday morning, so I'm dragging today, but thankful to be here. 

Had a scare on Saturday night of last week just before getting on the ship. Went to dinner at Outback and ended up choking on the first bite of steak, bad enough that I needed the heimlich. Unfortunately, the steak didn't clear and got wedged somewhere below the epiglottis and above the esophageal sphincter. After a couple hours of not being able to swallow anything without throwing it back up, I went to the ER and spent the night before having an endoscopy the following morning to remove it. Walked out of the hospital at 1230 and onto the ship at 3 with some busted up lips and sore throat from the endoscope, but able to have a beer and some soup for dinner. 

I hope everyone has a great Monday - go get you some and make it great!

Good morning everyone! Rain has stopped, but it will be very windy today. Teeing off at 13:00 and should be around 60 degrees, but a wet and windy course. Hope everyone has a great Monday!

@Marlin Dave & @tdc1 - Sorry guys, I took my snow tires off of the Subaru on Friday and I ruined the fake spring for the whole state! haha

@EnderinAZ - Glad you successfully made it through the "robot" testing and can now play the Maxfli Align balls! Enjoy and I hope you play well with them!

@David Staller - I was impressed with Scotties win. Especially with the neck injury he was battling on Saturday the whole round. He came in on Sunday and RIPPED around that course. I picked Tommy Fleetwood to win and he finished T-35. The leaderboard this weekend was top notch!

@Jedediah - Welcome to the forum! There are a lot of great and knowledgeable people on here! Best place to be in golf!

Good morning all!

I hope that everyone had a great weekend. I was able to get to the simulator last night after the end of The Players. Felt good to get some swings in and my game is feeling pretty good.

Unfortunately, the weather here in Chicago (and most of the midwest) has slipped back to winter after the "Spring of Delusion" graced our presence the past couple weeks.

On a positive note, today is my grandma's 99th birthday! She's still sharp as a tack and I've been very blessed to have her in my life for so long. 

It's a great day to have a great day!

Scary stuff! Glad it wasn't any worse than that for you!

A couple of years ago GF and I rented a condo on the beach, she choked on dinner and I did the Heimlich (improperly) and cracked a rib or two. She was not happy with me for several weeks after that.

Definitely not the best way to start a vacation! Glad that everything worked out for you to still go on the cruise.

@jbern there is a lot to do and see in the Branson area, especially for family activities. Been there numerous times, on an annual basis, driving from Michigan,.

One item I would highly recommend is to take everyone out to dinner at Lambert's Cafe in the Springfield area.

It is about a 50 minute ride from Branson, but no one will leave hungry, and the dining experience with the "Home of the Throwed Rolls" make it a fun thing to do.

Large portions, very reasonable prices.

Morning MGS!

Earlier this morning the plumbers began the repairs on the busted drain pipe under our kitchen floor. So far its going ok. Just praying it stays that way! This is a costly repair. In any case, I had a busy weekend, but managed to relax yesterday afternoon and catch the last half of the players tournament. What a finish! Really cool to see Scotty make history, but also really bummed Wyndham had that putt lip out like it did.

They put a Buccees in recently.  Too bad that wasn't there when I went to school.  The golf course we played at was right down the road.  Would've had to have a meal plan for Buccees.

@Jedediah welcome to the forum. Lots of great people here. 

@Cfhandyman you know the drill.  But, my youngest has been asking for pizza and my middle daughter is with the grandparents and she was told not to have pizza sauce by the doctor due to her tummy issues, so we may go do this new pizza place in town.  I'm more of large chunk of beef type, but pizza will do.

Thanks for the recommendation! We were just talking about restaurants last night and I will definitely add Lamberts to the list!

Good morning all from a partly cloudy camp verde AZ. Going to be 62 here better than 30 and snow like there getting back in PA. Playing Agave highlands on Thursday in Cornville supposed to be 70 it would be so nice to be able to golf in shorts. Have a wonderful day everyone and hit them long and straight.

I thought Payne's Valley was open, @TG8 played there a few weeks ago. He may be able give you some more info!

Also, I will echo what others are saying... Lambert's is definitely a place to check out.

I can vouch for Lambert's Cafe and the Throwed Rolls. I have not, however, tried any of the courses in the Branson area. Perhaps I will correct that at some point. My parents used to have a time-share at Big Cedar and we used it a time or two.

Yeah I actually stopped at Buc-ee's, which I became familiar with when I was living near Houston (they're based in/originated in Texas). Got a bag of beaver nuggets, which are darn near mandatory. For those unfamiliar, beaver nuggets are a snack that taste like Cracker Jacks and are equally addictive. The Buc-ee's in Florence is HUGE. Looked like a Walmart instead of a convenience store.

That's interesting. I went to their online booking and it showed "Unavailable" until 4/1. Maybe I should call, we'd really like to play the Top of the Rock par 3 course!

There's a tee time available today at 12:40 Branson time (which is seven minutes from now), six in all this afternoon, and 10 times for tomorrow. It said non-Lodge guests can book up to 14 days in advance for tee times before April 15, and 30 days in advance after that. If you're staying at one of their lodges, you book tee times by phone.

EDIT: The above is for Payne's Valley. Top of the Rock is indeed unavailable until 4/1, but that may be because it's fully  booked.

Same at the eastern end of your state (Commonwealth).  It was 76* F. on Thursday, and between 66* and 73* on Friday, Saturday and yesterday (Sunday, 3/17), but today's high is forecast to be in the high 40s to low 50s with mild to moderate wind, then tomorrow low to mid-40s with stronger winds (of course, I have a tee time reserved for 18 holes tomorrow), and then forecast to stay in the 40s through Friday. I also have a tournament on our winter golf tour this Thursday .... and there's no way that I am missing this one as it is at the course where I won my biggest cash prize in the last 7 years, plus it's where our Tour Championship will be played in four weeks.

Give paynes a call my buddy just played there 2 weeks ago.  I was told only course that isnt open yet was buffalo ridge.

If anyone is confused by this reference, the University of Arkansas, which opened in 1871, has engraved the name of everyone who has ever graduated from there in the ensuing 153 years onto a sidewalk somewhere on campus. And I mean everyone. They had to develop a special machine that automates the engraving; otherwise it would take forever. Does that include miles of sidewalks? You bet. My dad and I, who graduated 21 years apart, are both on the sidewalk on the northeast side of the original campus building, known as Old Main. My son, who got his degree 37 years later, is north of a block of dormitories on the edge of campus. Apologies MGS’s …. Way late again to the morning, now afternoon conversation. Somehow the confab I had with myself about playing yesterday’s round like my last round ever, got misconstrued into a performance of actually being nearly my worst round ever. Did’t help that on the second hole I hit a bunker shot where it felt like how hitting  cement might feel… Some hard as heck sand. Anyhow jacked the hell out of my wrists. Being the non-bright elderly person that I am, instead of calling it a day I continued to play on, big mistake.  
   Had a horrible night with the wrists. My lady fair, did all the driving to the Medico appointments. Finished the blood draw, as well as the other fluid pulls. Hands and wrists feeling a tad better. Spending the night in the big city, as the orthopedist is first up in the morning. Hoping for some answers an if I need to see the nerve specialist for exam(s) /testing for the extent of nerve damage. Next up after that is the gastroenterologist to review blood work and discuss any options that may need to be considered. 
  Bottom line, I will be out of pocket for at least a couple of more days.. Won’t be any twisting off, just shuffling from one medico to the next. 
   The young person doing the blood pull work up asked me questions in a combination of general conversation and information gathering. When he asked my age, his response to my answer was,… “ That’s starting to get up there “..Made  me laugh. I responded with a barrage of possibly biased data….

Take care out there… It is still Monday, and Monday can be a dangerous day to deal with.

Being retired they all seem the same anymore,just that most golf bball or fball doesn't start till late week or w/end. Great w/end for world #1 S Sheffler what a comeback. If I could play 1/2 that good I'd be praying for neck pain ha ha ha ha!
