The Good Morning Thread

Good morning all!

Was such a treat to be able to golf yesterday. We did get fairly wet as the rain came in waves throughout the round. Of course we walked off the last hole and the sun came out for the rest of the day  still had a blast and was really great to play an actual course vs. the sim. Going back out today for another round! Should be a little cooler today, but no rain in sight.

Congrats to @GolfSpy_APH for the increased involvement in the main site! They're lucky to have you.

In other news, while it won't effect the forum or what I am doing here I have taken on an additional role with MyGolfSpy working with our Forum staff to get more content on the main site. You will see a lot more of the forum staff writing and having articles published and promoted there. We will post these and what we ask of you is if and when possible show the guys some love and make a few comments, if you like the article share it around! These guys work hard on them and have been doing some great work behind the scenes. 

We of course will all still be on the forum doing our thing, but we hope to see a lot more growth in 2024 and this is part of it. 

On a personal note I am thrilled to work more with the HQ team and expand my role within MyGolfSpy as this is a company and brand I believe in. I always had the goal of expanding my role, but honestly thought it would kinda be capped with directing for forum. I am thrilled with where the forum is and where we are going to be. We have made a ton of progress and I will make sure that continues (along with the staff), however I am excited to be more involved with HQ, help get more content out to everyone in the golfing world and see where this can take me! 

Finally and maybe most important for me is the new role or expanded responsibility means I can spend more time at home. At the end of this season I am dropping my World Curling position making ice for events around the world and focusing on being home more with family and enjoying the time seeing my kids grow up and hopefully golfing!

Stay tuned as 2024 will be one to remember!

Good morning Spies.

A chilly 2* at time of rise and shine. The sun is out, the sky is mostly clear, but it's gonna be cold today and tomorrow. High of 13, low of -1 today and 29/15 tomorrow.

I'm logged in for work and monitoring upgrades down at the data center on campus. That'll be my today and tomorrow pretty much.

Congrats Jamie!!!!  Certainly well earned and even more well deserved.  This little spot on the web has always been special and you guys have continued to build upon it.  Thanks for all of the work and dedication to MGS, looking forward to what is in store!

Good morning spies! Going to be another great day here in the desert with temps in the low 70's. I should plan on working on my short game (oooh it stinks) but with the warm air I think I am going to grab my ipod, ear buds, and ebike and go for a ride. Not long, 30 miles or so. Haven't ridden while it has been cold so my butt wont take more than thirty miles. Hope you all have a great Saturday!

Good morning MGSpies from frigid but sunny 10*F cold WNY on this Saturday with (for the first time in a long time) nothing on the list to do until SWMBO gets a thought that I need encouragement to be doing something  coffee nice and hot while looking at a SF1 driver video that is just going on and on and on...  so taking a break to say good morning to you!

Awesome post Jamie @GolfSpy_APH and good as the Forum was before we saw much more from you, it is definitely better now and I have no idea how World Curling is going to get along as well as they have been with your energy trajectory shifted to the range of MGS enterprises.  I'm glad of it and no doubt my thankfulness will continue to increase. 

131 to  Kingsmill Rob @Golfspy_CG2 and your efforts are well appreciated.  Trying to figure how Hayes @Getoffmylawn and Matt @Lacassem got convinced that stepping up was a good idea but it is a great idea as their energy like so many in the MGS Forum World makes this a loosely bound organization worth paying attention to. 

Tom @Tom the Golf Nut that course looks so much like Stryker GC I played in December, have a plan with brother for another trip for golf in the middle of March.  Will keep you posted, and those rescued golf balls for onward play is the reason the IGBRC exists!  https://www.facebook.com/groups/igbrc

Morning all, like many other it’s FREEZING!

Daughter has dance this morning and then have a sibling Christmas party we do every year with my brothers, sister and spouses, after the holidays so we can hang out and relax. We go to a really nice restaurant (one of my favorites around and is a 2-3x per year maybe type place) and then stay at one of our houses for games and fun! Can’t wait.

Not reason I questioned is the last little statement….only because my patriots are out….although I am rooting for both the pack and lions to take it all, I will still not condone others for rotting for their home team when I cannot

Top of the pot spies .  Bike ride to/from and workout done.  Golf at 1107.  Rain in the forecast tomorrow thru Tuesday.  Note to my Miami Dolphins; if you want to avoid being flash frozen again, win your damn division outright .

And, while at the rec center, I see a newsclip of Buffalo fans in line with snow shovels... if that helps you any .

Good Saturday morning Spies. As noted by several others, Old Man Winter is just screwing with us now for his own selfish pleasure... 

Today will be interesting as I will be accompanying my daughter on her quest to determine what new vehicle she will be purchasing in the near future.  Dad has to come along during the "Test Drive" only phase to keep the sales wolves at bay...  This is quite the decision-making process for her, and I am happy to play my part in her process.

That is great news @GolfSpy_APH I have been a member for a short time however, it is easy to see your impact on the site. Looking forward to the additional content and influence. Additionally, enjoy the additional time spent with family as it will bring cherished memories.

Good morning folks, woke up to a morning cup of coffee and going to finish my last homework assignment for the week, simply a discussion on web design principles (fun!). When I woke up a short while ago I was almost shocked because the "big storm" has not shown up and was almost tempted to drive to the range really fast. Alas, I was too late lol. I have a practice session booked for tomorrow just so I can still knock some balls around but I am going to try and relax. I hate rainy days, I'm too much of a busy body. Have a great one Spies! So... Earlier this morning I tried to bring @Yellow Ball out into the back yard to romp around in the snow .. maybe build a little snow fort and lob some snow balls at each other .. and he seemed pretty happy at first...

(btw he's kind of a cute little fella when you get to meet him up close)

.. But he only got to the edge of the steps, stopped and turned around...

Yeah it was chilly here but not that crazy Upper Mid West chilly, but I guess when you're used to sunshine and warmth most of the year you're not gonna like this kind of Winter...

Oh well. I brought the little guy back inside, warmed him up and gave him some more hot coffee (unadulterated).

Later at the end day we're heading out to a birthday party with .. get this .. axe throwing!! Yes, yes, I promise not use YB as a target...

Haha well hope you have a really fun day today!!

Taking my old putting mat into one of said golf buddy coworkers today so that he has something to help him get through winter. He got into golf big last season and is really looking forward to spring to get back out on course. I’m just doing my part to make sure it becomes a full blown addiction.

Had to scroll back a few pages to see what all this news was about.  So, Adam & Co. finally figured out that you actually are two people... wonder why it took them so long?   Congratulations on the added role. 

A couple years back, we had some IM discussions about the forum and HQ.  This is, IMO, a great way to strengthen the connection .

Good morning everyone. It isn’t real golf but I’m playing a VGA event this morning at a local simulator establishment. Four man scramble format. Made the turn at -7 and currently at -10 after 12. CONGRATS!! on the promotion - obviously very well deserved - and Congrats! on the huge successes with the forum you've helped bring on!!

Clear and cold today at the Casa, and even colder tonight; they expect record lows.

Started the golf lesson I referenced last night a little early; dug out a pitching wedge and tried to show GF how to grip it. That particular wedge has the old Golf Pride grips with the arrow to help with hand placement, so I thought that would help. She said gripping it the way I showed her felt uncomfortable. She'd probably prefer to grip it the way she gripped a softball bat when she was a kid. Hey, if she can make contact like that...

I heard that. My best friend in high school wound up as a top executive for Cargill, the agri conglomerate, and he spent several years in Geneva running their European operations. He almost didn't come back to Cargill HQ in Minneapolis, but I think they convinced him with another raise and another promotion.

Funny thing about him. When we were kids, grousing about the summer heat/humidity in Arkansas, he'd always say he wanted to move up north. So he winds up working in Minneapolis, forced-retired early with a huge golden parachute, and is now living on Martha's Vineyard near where his wife grew up. I'd say he carried out that plan nicely.
