Reminds me of playing off the first at Spanish Bay in a tourney at Pebble , my Father in law played the year before and whiffed his drive and all the other teams laughed and ribbed him about it , 2 months later he passed with pancreatic cancer and was suffering with it then though he told nobody , so I stepped up striped a drive , nice second and stiffed an iron in close and tapped in a birdie and said out loud , “ that ones for you Jim “ and that felt pretty good !

There's a place in the community map to review or read reviews on golf courses. I would go into your profile and scroll down until you see the map then click on "view full size map". After that there is an option to "view markers" and you'll want to click on that and it gives you an option to see course reviews.

Morning Spy Family!

A crisp clear start to Sunday and highs in the 50’s with sun will have me striping some balls into the net today for sure. Coffee just finished brewing, pets are fed, and I’m browsing the forum before I fire up the tube.

A good PGA event unfolding at Pebble Beach later today for the final round.

Good Morning everyone!  Up early again 2 cups of coffee down and getting ready to head to the course.  34º but supposed to warm up to 51º... except that is after we finish.  My wife and I are playing with two buddies (brothers), one is my former service manager at our local Dodge dealer.  Miss him keeping my Charger in good shape.  The stress of the job got to him and he gave it up to drive a city bus... loves it.  We've been playing with them for 15 years.  Haven't seen them since last summer.

Morning update. The only time I prefer the rain!

So I got to do that free Qi10 fitting yesterday.  Learned some interesting stats from my trackman sessions.

I hit up on the ball... like REALLY up.  over 5* wasnt abnormal to see  One I hit 7* of positive AoA.  It was usually around 5* though.

Fitter also said Im basically maxing out what the sim2 can do and that the Qi10 would do basically nothing for me. Numbers were very close to my stock driver. 

Spin rates were rather good 2300-2800rpm usually mid 2k's no problem.

So... I was hitting the ball WAY too high.  We did something I never thought someone of my handicap would need.  We turned my 10.5* head down one setting to ~9ish*.  Wouldnt have seen that coming.  Had no issues still getting the ball in the air.

Added benefit of opening the face as my miss is a hard pull left.

I will say the new Qi did feel REALLY good hitting.  So if you are in the market for one worth a look.  Was it any more forgiving than my sim2?  not really.

Good morning all!

Had a very chill day yesterday, which was much needed. Was able to get to the simulator last night to play 18 holes at Liberty National. Going again with a friend this morning to get some more practice in.

Hoping that the tourney at Pebble Beach resumes today, but I think it's still up in the air due to the weather. Might have to do a bit of work today unfortunately. Hoping to relax the rest of the day though.

So I signed up for a golf instruction program. It’s 6 weeks long, so I’m hoping to see quite a bit of improvement in certain areas. Mainly more consistent contact period. I’m just waiting to find out when it will start, I do know it will be in the spring on the weekends. So that’s a plus.

Good morning spies! Of to the range to test the new 5 hybrid this morning. Then probably back to the chipping and pitching area for some more work there. It is where I am most deficient anyway.  

skrealing glad your fitting went well. You saw the same thing I did. The fitter could not put me in a new driver that would give me better distance or control.

I am bummed! Haven't been able to play with my normal Sunday group for a while now due to cold rainy weather the last 3 weeks.  here we go again. A high of 40 with 15mph winds and 100% chance of rain. I guess i will be doing some indoor putting practice.

Good morning Spies! Up late last night proving myself wrong: I can build things after all. GF was going to build her home gym herself, quickly got overwhelmed with the complex instructions (which were quite difficult to understand) and I took over. It's about 95% complete, just finish the stairstepper attachment (bottom right below). Amazingly the network of cables and pulleys is working perfectly!

Back on the road this afternoon for a three day work trip. Depending on when I get through on Wednesday, might swing through Pinehurst and play the Cradle.

Good morning everyone. Slow moving Sunday with soccer on TV and putting the finishing touches on my final write up for the Odyssey review. Doesn’t look like we’ll finish the Pebble Beach event today which is a bummer. By the sound of things I don’t think they will play Monday either. I was interested in hearing your thoughts as you mentioned you were doing the GG fitting also. I swapped my Radspeed XB for a mini burner last year and it worked well. The Qi10 Max definitely get me about 10 yards more than the burner and when I get all the way through it’s 15-20 total. I want one really bad just have to see if I can swing a Bday, Fathers Day, 20th Anniversary, and Xmas gift into a a Valantines day gift

My driver had a descent angle like a 7i, almost 40* sometimes lol.  Once we sorted that out 30-40yds of rollout wasn’t out of the question.

distances between the two both were pretty consistently in the 260ish range.

That setup is looking good and it looks like you did a pretty good job of getting things together.

Good morning Spies! A little late to the Forum today as yesterday's family activities led to some obligations this morning for SWMBO...

Now that all that is completed, I can get around to the healing the injury experienced during the range session yesterday. Nothing serious - just the ego... One of those sessions that starts out bad and goes downhill from there... I'll just have to spend some time with the net today and concentrate on contact location. Picked up a fresh can of foot spray yesterday so wish me luck.

I need to remember this is a feature and do a review of the golf courses in my area. I guess once I'm out on the course I'm just thinking about how I'm playing and trying to remember details from my round.

Cuppa going down nicely and better yet. I can actually see the sun. It appeared during my outing with my wife yesterday. I was momentarily confused by the bright shiny thing in the sky. We visited the city my father in law grew up in and drove by his childhood home. Oh and we also hit a great candy shop, a bakery that’s been in existence since 1896 and a coffee shop for a great latte. On the way home we hit the Turning Stone Casino and I placed a minor Super Bowl bet. I bet the under.  

My son’s birthday is in a few weeks. We asked him what he wanted. He jokingly said Super Bowl tickets. Both of us our Niners fans. This led me to finding my ticket stub from the 49ers vs. Giants playoff game from January 3, 1982. The ticket price was $20. How ticket prices have changed.

That’s just crazy on that price.   And funny enough that same day I was fessing my well everything off in -20 degree temps in Ohio as the Bengals were beating the Chargers in the AFC Championship game.  Even colder than the one in KC a few weeks ago. 

Looking forward to some decent February weather this coming week. Upper 40’s and low 50’s to do some driver testing

Good morning

Third group out this morning. This is our 14th hole. Ducks, specifically teal. Note the "hazards" surrounding my ball! We play lift clean and place! Spend the last few holes dragging shoes so as not to bring anything home.

BTW, the first group we had never seen before and our usual 3.5 hour round was just over 4. May have been active duty though so no worries. We actually want to see more airmen on the course.

When it is warm enough to play but the course is too frozen/snowy to even use the range, you hit a few LWs off the patio under the watchful eye of your coach. She doesn’t have much to say but will “modify” the stray shot if I don’t pick it up quickly enough.  Supposed to be 54° on Friday so, maybe . . .

Good morning spy’s 

I had 3 of my grandchildren at the range yesterday and the 7 year old was enthusiastic to say the least. 
 

after about 35 minutes of hacking at the ball he has worked himself into quite the lather, he runs over to me and says “look at this, I have TWO shirts on, no wonder I am so hot” 

his mom had put a long sleeve undershirt on him under his golf shirt to keep him warm. 
 

talk about being 7 and totally unaware of what is going on around him and not even knowing why he left the house wearing!! 

made my way to the practice green, I don’t know if you can see but I have a chalk line, mirror and 6 balls about 3 feet surrounding the hole, grinding the putter

Convinced the doctor I was ready to go home!   Feels so good to not be at the hospital and laying in my own bed.  Blandish food for about a week no driving for 2, a few other restrictions.   Didn’t say no golf but the no lifting probably means I can’t get my bag to the car.   .  
glad to be home with the family cat since the doctor said she didn’t have much time left.  As soon as I came home and got in bed she came and laid next to me and hasn’t left my side.
