Looks like some great participation so far! Best of luck to everyone and hopefully I will join you all in a few weeks. Sidelining myself to work on swing changes that I need to just practice (no "real" golf for me for a bit) for a few weeks/month. Go get em' y'all!

Experiment Day: I pulled my PXG’s , driver & fairways, then pulled my 9W and 5i and replaced them with: Power Bilt Driver, 3W, 5W, 3H & 4H. All were Air Force One models. I then pulled my Evnroll ER2 putter and replaced it with Thor, my old Nike Method Core Drone putter. Driver was so so with a tail. 3W & 5W were terrific.  The 3H & 4H were okay and would be okay going forward if they remained in the bag. Right now, the only club staying will be Thor. He performed admirably today on the greens and off the greens.

On some 150 yard approaches I opted for the 6i and was very successful. On a few others, I opted for a choked up 4H and got distance right but ball went right of green.

Putts 34, FIR 5/14 36%, GIR 6/18 36% Up & Downs at 41% versus season avg of 32%.

Off till Monday and PXG’s will be back in the bag.  I do better with 5/7/9 wood combos rather than 3/5 wood & 3/4 Hybrids.

Very cool experiment Foz.  I always have great intentions of putting some old gamers back in the bag but I always chicken out for the new shiny toys.  haha.

Except for the graphics. the Stealth HD looks very much like 1970s GI irons back toward the beginning of the GI era.

I'm sure that it's not the same at all and has more modern tech involved, but I speak of the general look.

Of course, one would have to have been playing back then to notice. <sigh>

Played a 9 hole today so I could pair with the odd round I played at the other 9 hole earlier in the week. C.H. from whites is +3 at one and +5 at the other.

Played Colonial Terrace at +2 for 37 earlier in the week in perfect weather.

Played Clearbrook today at +7 for 42 in colder weather but relatively calm winds.

The combined 79 is awesome, but not the "break 80" I want to earn. Had a couple days of practice and bad scoring in between. 9 holes at a time is a good starting point. Next I want to play a full 18 with no blowup and break 80 for real.

I played well today in Masters week, but as we all know I could have scored better.

Great round. Really strong with nine net birdies!

I was solo walking with 2 people a hole behind me the whole time, so lots of chances to score my first ball and drop a couple green ones to hit extra shots for feeling out the distances. I'd hit a 6i approach then walk up 15 yards and try to hit a 7i to the same spot.

Some good and some bad, luckily no thin shots were on the ball I was scoring. I definitely didn't score this well back on the 1st round I played with the Apex '19s but I was a higher handicap then.

The feel when struck well is excellent. Early impressions of the 110g shaft is it suits my swing. Overall very excited to get more rounds in with them.

6i-8i was equalling the Apex for distance, the 9i and PW don't go as far but I figured this going in, going from 43 to 45° on the PW. I had no issues so far gaming 45-52-56 wedges. It requires touch that I like to think I have.

You beat me to it EP, I was going to link to the first thread for Season 1.  Yes... same basic rules apply.

@Javs you don't need to sign up, all you need to do is post your score using the "post score" button in the thread.  You will need to know your course handicap, and some information on deriving that is in the Season 1 Week 1 thread too.  If you have specific questions, don't hesitate to reach out.  It took a few weeks for us to get through all the "what if's" last season, but I think once it started rolling, it made a lot of sense and was fairly easy to post scores.  The leaderboard will automatically update when you post your score, so there is an immediate feedback on where you stand that week.

@Jnoble89 9 hole scores are ok, but need to be combined with a second 9 hole score so everyone is playing 18 hole rounds for a level scoring field.  So if you and your son play a couple of 9 holers that week, you can combine them and post as 18.  Last week (Week 27) we had a lively discussion on how to post 9 hole scores... check that out if you have any questions.

@Getoffmylawn no short bus here... not much different than playing with your home men's club or group.  use your GHIN index or other method to calculate your course handicap, post your gross score, the number of strokes over or under the par for the course, a few other questions in the "post score" template, and your net score is calculated and added to the leaderboard.  The beauty of this great game is that EVERYONE can play and compete with each other regardless of their ability by using the handicap system.   Net Score is the measurement for this competition, and the handicap makes that possible.

A few reminders to everyone... you can post as many scores a week as you want.  Only the top score will be used each week for the Forum Cup Points race.  Also, feel free to be as descriptive as possible about your rounds in the comment section.  One of the best parts of looking through the thread each week, is not only seeing the scores, but the commentary on the different shots that led to those scores.  This is a forum afterall 🙂

Enjoy Season 2 Everyone!!

MGS Member WVCT Commissioner TCB 🙂

So glad I found this - HOPEFULLY getting in 18 tomorrow morning (forecast isn't ideal) but I'll plan to post my score here!

Too bad, Saturday looks to be the only reasonable day here this week.  I've got the normal Sunday round, but it looks to be pretty damp all day.  Hopefully it won't be too windy and I'll only need one extra club instead of three.

Played early. Almost no wind today.  79 with 3 natural birdies, one triple and two doubles.  I’ve officially recovered from the worst case of the shanks I have ever lived through.  I was averaging double digit shanks in first 10 weeks this year.  It was hell.  GHIN index went from 7.5 to 12.5 in 3 months as I couldn’t break 95.  It’s headed back down now thank goodness. Now I have to get my sand game back as it cost me today on the back 9.

Today: Started with a 3 putt bogey on 1, triple on 4 after hooking tee ball into water and airmailing green on 3rd shot.  Birdied  6th, 9th and 12th. Lipped out on 10 for par.  Doubled 16 and 17.

Another beautiful day out on the course, first hole was a bit rough but without a range to warm-up I expect that. 2 and 3 I played well and bogey'd. Hole 4 tho, WOW. I hit a super slice off the tee, had to play near the fence but still in bound. Direct shot to the hole was blocked my massive trees, but there was an opening about 60* and I told myself if I can play the slice I'll hit green. So I grabbed the 5 iron, told myself to not correct the slice, absolutely smashed it, straight and the slice grabbed and you see it curl to the green. Couldn't find it til I got to the green and it was on the backside. Hit green in 2 so I'm happy, but I had a putt downhill at about 30 feet. Picked my line, hit and it grabbed the cliff edge just right, got some speed and went right for the hole, sunk! First birdie of the year, man I was feeling on top of the world! Rest of the round was about average, around hole 11 and 12 I fell apart, completely crumbled to end up with a quad and triple bogey (Which was a 241 yard Par 3🤮). Somehow, I mentally got back tho, which is tough for me. Bogey'd 13 and par'd 14, then hole 15 I drove the green and sunk it in 2 for another par! Went back to average and then all of us crumbled on hole 18, so that one was an easy one to laugh off! Very happy with my putting, it truly has started to shine lately, my confidence standing behind the ball is high. If I can clean up the long game, I'll be sitting pretty. Had a great time, just finished some top golf fun from this morning, and looking forward to another round next week! (Pic from the Par 3 I drove, note the lone ball on the green 😆)

An OK round except for 3 doubles.  The round got off to a bad start with a double on #1.  On the back nine I started with a double on #10, then parred all holes until a double on #18.  Still cursing the plug holes on the greens.

I always look at a plugged green and imagine how amazing it will be rolling by the summer .... I try to be a glass half full guy.. .while my ball plinko's across the green going in the opposite direction of the hole.  LOL>

Not only did they get my putts, but I had a couple of pitches that landed and bounced sideways!!

The greens were rolling Perfect IMO 11-12 stimp before they punched.  I don't think they would be any better in the summer.

It was wet and sloppy today, but I did manage to make my way around the course in pretty good time.

My best hole of the day was a par... but not just any par.

I hit a low duck hook that was headed for the pond on the left of the fairway.  Standing water took all the momentum out of the ball, and it stopped almost dead in the middle of the makeshift lake.  I took my drop and had an embarrassing distance left to the hole, with trees between me and pretty much anything in the general direction I wanted to hit it.  So... 8 iron lay up over the trees.  Perfectly struck, thankfully, and I ended on the right side of the fairway, with 125 to the pin.  Grabbed my PW, and put the best move of the day on it... a 3/4 swing knock down that I just nipped perfectly off the soggy turf. Hit pin high, took on big bounce about 10 feet past the hole, and spun back, catching the slope leaving me about 6 feet up the hill breaking to the left.  Buried the putt for a par.

As I was walking off the green, I reminded myself that you don't have to hit every shot perfectly... and you don't always have to pull off the hero shot to score well.  Bad drive, accept the lumps, lay up and play for a bogey, hit a good shot, save par. 🙂

This last part is so true. After reading through (a couple times) Jon Sherman’s “Four Foundations Of Golf”, the course management aspect of my game has really taken hold - playing smart., avoiding the hero shots, and taking your medicine (when needed) truly is the ideal approach to this crazy game…

Cold wet day; however, struck it very well. Putted decent enough. Shot 1 over gross from the blue tees getting 5 shots. Won our match today and overall felt great!
