Awesome ball striking day and just missed a few putts or could have been under par. Maybe next time!

Good lord. So, apparently breaking 80 last week wasn't good enough, and so I decided to go out today and best it by three more strokes.

I'm overwhelmed with how I'm feeling right now, to be honest, but let's put it this way: I was -2 on the back 9, including my first eagle (ever) on the 18th.

It felt INCREDIBLE.

The lowlights: two doubles on the front 9. Mostly just got out of position from the tee, and paid the price. Also a bogey on the 15th after leaving a 50+ foot putt 10' short, and then the next putt circling the putt about 200° and exiting left out of the hole. That one hurt.

The highlights: a chip-in birdie on a par three that I just missed the green on. A 40' birdie putt on 16 (on the hole immediately after the lip-out, which felt like karma, lol). A 12-ish foot putt for par for a sand save on 17. And then a 321 yard drive (thanks, I'm pretty sure, to a VERY generous cart path bounce) on 18, followed by a legit-perfect 6-iron from 189 to about 15 feet for eagle.

And then...this 🙂

Nice, buddy! Congrats! What tees did you play from? Blue, white or gold? Course handicap changes from each one - Blue = 22, White = 19, Gold = 13.

For anyone who sees this! Please go and make a comment on this article: https://mygolfspy.com/news-opinion/mygolfspy-virtual-championship-tour/

We are looking to push and make the VCT greater and bigger than ever before to include some unique virtual trophies and more. However to do so we need hits and support on the HQ article.

We want to get some additional backing from HQ and every single comment on the main site article pushes us closer to getting more support.

Thanks to everyone! We have a week to really push this so please comment and we will hopefully be able to lay a plan for 2024 afterwards.

Like a Tale of Two Cities, it was the best of times, it was the worst of times. After opening double, par, double, double, double, bogey, bogey, par, bogey…ok you get the gist, I righted the ship on the back side. I went birdie, par, birdie, snowman, then finished with two pars. Finishing up with a par always takes the sting out of the round.

I hate to say I told you so!  After last weeks first time breaking 80, didn't I say you'd do it again once you realized it was possible.  I bet you didn't believe me and if you did, that you didn't think it would be this soon!

Congratulations!

As mentioned in another thread.  I hit the ball horribly but still ended up in the &0’s it’s a miracle.   One of the better putting rounds of the year with 28 putts certainly helped.

First 18 at Tatanka yesterday. Thunder showers to start the day but then the sun came out by the fourth hole. Wedges were laser focused and  had a lot of good looks at birdies.

Second round at Tatanka. Played one tee up in the afternoon which led to more birdie looks but still played tough. Driver was inconsistent but had a couple beauties. This one was the best.

@Shank Aaron if my math is correct we had quite the battle that ended up being a push with us earning a half point each. The eagle on the final hole for you earned your point to tie the match. Neither getting more than 2 up at any point and a lot of back and forth with many of my birdies coming on holes where you had bogey.

So if that is the case great match and well done!

@GolfSpy_APH nope, we'll be A-OK with your math lolololol. I'm not sure how any of this is being scored and haven't had a clue since I got in on this. I've been playing like two different people. A) Help the team and do your part. B) Where's the 1st, what's the record, hold my beer. That said, no matter how this all goes, well played brogey.

Jokes aside, I'm thankful to @Tom the Golf Nut, @Golfspy_CG2, and @Golf2Much for inviting me to fill in and be a part of this. It's been a lot of fun and I appreciate you guys keeping me in mind.

Had my best combined nine and was several three putts away from breaking a combined 90. I know wouldn’t have been badge worthy but shows the work I have been putting in. 12 strokes better than last week. My swing feels are going well. Hit some nice baby draws into greens this week. Driver was also ok when I remember to fully extend my arms (try to hit heel). Short game was spectacular all week as well where I had several easy up and downs.

Well lots of birdies will hopefully help the team in matchplay but 3 bogeys and a snowman may just give at least half those away.  The 14th hole would have been a quick pick it up to @GolfSpy BOS if actually playing together. Tee shot OB right, re-tee and pull hook it into the trees to keep from going ob again, takes 2 punch out shots to get back to the fairway, 9-iron just short to the fringe, chip to 3”, tap in 8 lolIMG_0406.jpegIMG_0407.jpeg

My previous round on Thursday was up and down.  Today's round was even more manic up and down!

image.png.c62b6534688b71b376ba623b34c8ae91.png

Our course was wet and last night it got another 1.5 inches of rain.  The course is on Stock Island, the next key up from Key West.  They got killed with rain.  In town...not a drop.  Again, cart path only, lots of standing water (fairways, traps, etc.) and no roll.  In fact, I lost a brand new golf ball in a flooded trap.  In fact, guys on the course were complaining because they were watering the course with it being so wet.  I told them they were not watering the course, just diverting the water from the overflowing ponds to other areas off the course.

Good:  Two natural birdies.  One was a 75 foot chip in.  The other was a 20 foot down hill breaking putt on a par 3.

Bad:  Neither got me a skin!  Two other of my "friends" put a birdie right on top of me!

Good:  Only 25 putts (including a three putt).  Only 9 total putts on the front.

Bad:  Only two up and downs, so three of those one putts were for doubles.

Good:  I had a 193 yard drive on the 7th hole.

Bad:  It was cart path aided!

Ugly:  Only 64% of the fairways, only one green in regulation (birdie putt dropped) and wet shoes after the round.

Uglier:  Finishing the round and watching Team USA missing out on the last two "afternoon" matches.  At least that was over a couple of beers!

7:21 round this morning, expecting rain and had a few sprinkle showers early but by the 5th it blown away the wind kept going for the balance of the round.  Had some brilliant approaches the 2 birdies made today were near eagles 40 yards out on my approach at 5 lipped out.  60 yards out on 10 stopped within a foot of the hole after rolling very close to the cup.  Short game was the score saver 2 for 2 sand saves, 3 for 7 green side saves and 30 putts   6 bogies, 10 pars and 2 birdies.

Played this afternoon at Stony Creek Metropark Golf Course today on a picture-perfect last day of September here.

Was paired up with a couple of brothers, both younger than I am, but not by much age difference.

We had a lot of rain here during the past week, and as such, some parts were still wet and puddled.

A tale of two nines as far as hitting GIR's for me, as the front nine had me on the fringe or edges of the greens in regulation rather than hitting them. Only hit 2 GIR on the front nine. Back nine considerably better as far as GIR's with a total of 6 on the back.

Did manage to hit 9 of 14 fairways, and those missed were mostly left and just off and in the first cut of rough.

Due to being late in the season, only tees were blue, and they were all towards the very back, so the course played close to 6900 yards.

Shot 41 on the front, with 16 putts, and 37 on the back with another 16 putts.

My shot of the day was a par 3 playing 180 yards, where I hit a 5-iron pin high about 12 feet right of the hole and did not make the putt.

Some pictures below showing the ideal weather and some of the course itself.

12/14 par 4 and par 5 holes were dog legs. Trash. Unplayable. Too expensive for time of day and layout was Mickey Mouse-y at best. First time playing there and never returning again.

50 (+14) & 41 (+5) for 91 (+19).

Good shots were punished and greens were mushroomy.

Nothing good to say about this course other than I’m glad that I tried it only to be sure that I’m never going back.
