How'd you play?

Rick. I believe I should qualify this by saying. Not all 85 mph swing speeds are the same. So much more in the swing such as your transition from the top to beginning the down swing and such.

 

That said. I think averaged 85 mph on my drivers this week at TXG and was ultimateky fit into a Regular flex.

 

If it's possible I would get to a good fitter and see what he has to say.

Somehow we got 18 holes in. Windy and rain squalls for most of the morning. I had 41-42=83 pretty good for conditions. Played ProV1.

Dragged out the SC200 LM. Entire 4-some early 70's years old. Swing Speeds on hole #2 went from 78 to 86. Mine was 85 smash factor 1.47. Now gotta figure out what this means and how we can use it to improve.

One of my thoughts is should I be using Senior shafts?

My fitter at Club Champion put me in a stiff flex which I was surprised at.   He said my transition was strong so a stiff shaft would help me.   He was right because my driving is pretty darn good right now.

This is why fitting matters.  I have a high swing speed but smooth tempo and transition so I fit into an X but not what a chart would tell me.  I played the AD DI 7x in my Epic SZ for a year and had a right miss that would pop up at least once a round.  Went to the AD TP 6x this year and have been driving it great the last few weeks after some swing flaws got fixed.  I can move the ball both ways and flight it up or down at will.  Heck I missed one fairway in my last two rounds combined.

Had back to back birds again today, like yesterday.

Narrowly missed the bird on the holes befor and after too, so I came close to 3 birds in a row.

That's my new goal now...

Qualified for the Illinois State Amateur today. Shot 35-36. Only bogey was the 18th hole. Finished T-3. They took 8.

 

 

... 1 under in the pressure packed Ill State Am is some very serious golf. Congrats!

I played out of my mind today during our after-work 9 holes and shot -1 with 4 birdies (started with a double). Hadn't played for a week and a half because I got sick, but I was practicing with my putting mirror while I was at home. Today, I made 2 birdie putts from about 18 feet, maybe even longer, which was nice to see. It's an easy muni and pretty short, but at the end of the day you still have to make the shots and rolls the putts, and I did those things

Played a few times recently.

Still stunk the last few times with 90 plus scores. Part of the reason is I'm exhausted all the time on weekends.

 

Anyway still glad to be playing.

Shot 81 Wednesday while doing some driver testing and it didn't even feel like I was trying (I've only broke 80 once before). Short game was off quite a bit, but my approaches were solid. My ball striking has taken a huge leap forward recently. Looking forward to Saturday with some buddies.

First round in over a month and the swing did not translate from range earlier this week. Struggled off the tee and struggled getting the speed of the greens on long putts.

 

Yet somehow I managed an 83.

 

Iron striking was pretty good and wedge game was phenomenal. The D Grind saved me at least 3 strokes today.

so, I received my Cobra Connect Challenge golf bag on Wednesday, and after carefully loading it with my new Cobra F8 clubs, I decided to put my Ben Hogan PTx irons & Tkt wedges in my old bag.  Then, I added a Cobra King Driver, Bombtech # Wood & 4 Hybrid.  Finally I threw in my Bellum-Winmore putter and walls! I now had a third full set, bag and all.  Then I decided to low tech it today and give my Cobra F8's and Arcoss a rest.

 

So I shot 45/47:92 with one birdie today.  It was fun trying to figure out yardages using the Hogans(have not played them since January) and no Arcoss.  Tomorrow, I debut the Cobra F8's, bag & all at my club.  The four rounds I have on them were in Gatlinburg on vacation.

 

I sure hope they will be ready for me.....

Played awful today, but it was cold and wet so that's my excuse 😝. I did hit some good shots, made a couple of good pars and chipped in from a nearly impossible spot. It was however my first round with the Shot Scope so that was fun.

Played 3rd qual round club championship- long game is good, chipping is better than before but putting!!! when putting for birdie from 5 feet, its 2 putts, from further its 3 putts or hole a 3 footer for par 37 putts today which included five x 3 putts. 8 bogies and 2 double bogies with 3 birdies for a 79. I could be dangerous if I could putt.

 

86% of putts come up short (shot scope) and approach shots are not close enough (shot scope analysis again).

 

 

I think I need to get a mini spider mallet or 2 ball putter- blade putter is killing me from all distances (yes I know its the Indian not the arrow) but putting is 85% mental imo.

Got two new personal bests today. Shot a 42 on the front (including a 6 on a par 3) and completed the entire round without 3 putting. The back wasn't as good and so I ended tied with my best (89), but now I'm already excited for next weekend. Hopefully I can put two 42s together and drop 5 strokes.

Maybe try either more or less toe hang?

 

Recently added weight to mine to increase the toe hang and have had great results.

thanks, I tend to hook putts as a short miss or long putt, maybe more toe hang would increase that, maybe a face balanced putter (even though I have an arc) would be better

Struggled today. Haven't been able to play due to work the last few weeks.

 

Had a 6:30 am tee time and didn't get to properly warm up. First 3 holes had A LOT of topped balls. My mechanics were all off.

 

Ended up shooting a 96.

Played 9 with my son this afternoon. Birdied both par 3's on the front 9 for a -2 for the 9 holes we played. Hit is well tee to green and putted okay.

Temperature drop last night; cold and a little rain early this morning with winds 15-20 mph.  My hands were cold!  However, I birdied the first hole.  When I do that I always say "I could break the course record, theoretically."  Then 3-putted the second hole.  Oh well.  That was the only green with bad putting.  I drove the ball poorly all day, but I scrambled after my drives.  I birdied #11 and #13 but doubled #18.  All three birdies were putts over 15 feet.  Shot 81.

Drove and ballstruck like a monster today, and still shot an 82. I got shook early with 5 misses when hitting the hole from inside 10 feet for 3 birdies and two pars. I would have been -3 at worst through 7. Just never got my head back on.

I played absolutely horribly today and couldn't be much happier.

 

First, off I have been injured and could not make a full swing. So Friday, I go out and move up a set of tees, and actually play fabulously. The best round I have had in several years. All this was because I was very careful and kept an excellent 3/4 tempo. I shot an easy 76 and didn't make a single putt longer than 3 feet, but had no 3 putts.

 

Saturday, I played again, but this time I sorta got caught up in the "gamesmanship" with another player. We have been sorta challenging each other for 15 years so it's not unusual and quite fun. My full shots were not great, but my putter was so hot. I made, by his count, 10 15-20' putts. And in spite of playing poorly, my putter cut my score to an 84.

 

Now comes Sunday. Putter was cold all day. I mean freezing cold. I had more 3 putts than every round this year put together. On full swings (actually 3/4 swings) I had very weird day. I started out not getting through the ball at all. 1/2 the distance as Saturday for about 6 holes. Also, I flipped the wedges and had horrible shots. I had 2 triples and a quad and the 3 doubles the first 7 holes.  Then I started getting through the ball and had 5 good holes, but still not putting well. Then suddenly, I was getting full distance with 3/4 swings and flew the green on 4 of the last 6 holes. Well, the bad news was a 54 on the front and a 42 on the back.

 

So I shot 18 strokes higher on Sunday than Friday, but I'm still very happy. I had no expectations of playing well this week, and since going into Friday I feared I was going to have to have surgery on my shoulder, and I instead I got to play golf. I didn't care what I scored. It was still better than sitting at home "recovering".

 

I was given new medication. Friday, I still had a lot of pain and was much more conservative with my swing. By Sunday afternoon, I had virtually no pain on the back 9 and I fell like I really learned some things this weekend making partial swings that I can use in my full swings, hopefully this week.

Horrible, disgusting day today!!!  Cold weather moved in for the weekend, and wind and some rain with it.  Not rainy today, but the wind picked up to 25-35mph.  Couldn't stay warm.  Shot 87 with two birdies and 5 doubles. I'm still not driving the ball to my usual normal.  I was in a record (for me) 5 bunkers today, but none of my 5 doubles came from being in a bunker.  I made 2 pars and 3 bogies from them.

Another round of wasted opportunities. Started with a very soft double after an awful layup. Got things back together and was playing ok, only to finish really poorly. Bogeyed the last 3, one 3 putt, one missed putt from 3 feet, one missed green after a great drive left me 120 out. Finished 8 over when it should have been much better.
