... Not singling you out but I have always hated this idea. As a QB, throwing to a small target did not increase my accuracy when throwing to receivers when it counted. Throwing to receivers made me more accurate when throwing to receivers. I hear players that tout MB's helping them become better ball strikers because they get lazy or swing too hard with more forgiving irons. Those are justifications for poor mental discipline or why they should play MB's. Every player should use the club that gives them their best chance to hit good golf shots. If that is G410's then learn to hit your G410's to the best of your ability. Or in your case C300's. That said, nothing wrong with experimenting and trying new irons. Maybe a less forgiving iron suits your swing better or simply gives you more confidence. But they won't help you hit your C300's any better.

Oh, sure, and no offense taken. I'm reading what I originally wrote now, and I don't care for the way I presented it. It's not going to make me a better ball striker. That's for sure. I'm definitely a huge advocate for playing more forgiving irons than less forgiving. Why make the game harder?

I don't consider myself to be a great ball striker. I guess what I'm after is to see if perhaps I'm better than I think at ball striking (imposter syndrome), or if I really don't have the ability at this point to play a more compact club head.

I know from foot spray that I'm pretty consistent in my strike location, but it's not always in the center. Today, for example, I hit five straight 6 irons off the exact same spot on the toe.

I like the C300s plenty, but I'm also wanting to switch to something that doesn't have any sort of cavity badging. I've been through enough grief with several warranty replacements for badges flying down range that I don't ever want to deal with them again. In the Sub 70 line, the 699s are probably the best option, for Maltbys the PTMs or TS-2s.

And, as you touched on, it's a $20 experiment to try an iron I would otherwise never get to hit. Part of my enjoyment of golf is trying new things, playing new places, learning new things. I'm looking forward to it.

I encourage you to try it, but be honest with yourself -- which you appear to be. I liked what @chisag said with the football analogy, golf is hard no need to make it harder! I was able to drop my handicap a little while gaming the 900 Tours, but I'm not consistent enough with them and I'm trading "down" to something more forgiving.

That's going to be a beast of a bag. I'll love to see your gapping once you get everything settled, and to get your opinion on the Hi-Revs. I assume you play mostly partial shots with those given your driver distance.

Had my fitter build me a 54 and 58 2019 PM grinds with $ Taper 120 shafts in black. I had a demo set from the shop out with me this afternoon while I was out playing with my son and loved them. Was not sure how the 54 would play but it was great on full swings and better than my MD4 sound the green.

Yep, Truespec. Couldn’t do anything to touch the fairways. The M3 may never leave my bag. Hit a bunch of different 5w combos and in the end we could only get to as good as the flash 5w. We did adjust the hosel on mine though. Went -1 and to the D setting 😱 scary since my miss is a draw but the upright made a difference in my delivery.

I heard somewhere that you have some new irons??

It’s going to be a fun bag that’s for sure. I’m a little worried about the gaping at the bottom as it’s a 6* jump from aw to 56 but if I am able to get 105 out of the 56 it will be what I am looking for. Went 1 degree strong on irons to try to match my current yardages. Cant wait to try them.
First time I have hit the hi rev shaft. It was a crazy difference in how easy it was for me to swing. Delivery was perfect every time. I am a tough fit because my iron CHS is no where near what it should be for what my driver CHS is.

919 Forged on the way, in the same shaft I was fit for when I went for the 900 Tours. I figured that if I went for another Mizuno fitting, it's just going to tell me that the 105 stiffs are still the best, plus I like the feel of them. Surely they can't be worse for me than the 900 Tours since they're bigger and more forgiving overall? They'll have to do until I get to somewhere that can do a true custom fit, probably late next year!

Shocker. It's not a club!!  But picked up this in the pro shop at Whistling Straits.

Can't wait to see this RC next year.  It's going to be crazy there.

Got fit for :ping-small: G410 irons 😀 with Modus 105 stiff shafts

Going to be a nice upgrade over my off the rack 2011 Cobra S3 irons. Anxiously waiting for the phone call they are ready for pickup so I can get a few round in before the season wraps up in Canada.

I'm really starting to post in this topic too often! I was planning on just finishing the year out without a driver and just using my F85 5 wood. It is 40 yards shorter than driver but at least it is straight. I happened across a m3 440 and a diamana bf and thought why not. According to SWMBO, I have a problem when there is money in my PayPal cuz I can't resist buying golf equipment. Lol

I also purchased a PXG Gunboat H Gen1 putter. Mainly so after I make a putt I can yell "Kaboom Baby!"

Not sure if this really belongs in the “Got Problems” thread but I got myself a pair of pants and a pair of shorts from Loudmouth. Nearly pulled the trigger a month ago on the pants, glad I waited as the ones I wanted were half price.

You'll have to post some pics once you get them in. And finding the pair you wanted at half price, sweet!

Same as my 900 tours were! Standard length and loft, 1* upright from standard. I figured if I went to the same fitting that I did for my tours, I would've ended up in similar, if not the same specs. They can't be any HARDER to game than the 900 Tours were, it'll tie me over until I can get to a Truespec or Coolclubs type of custom fitting place.
