Not a lot, but definitely a few times per round. If you play tree lined courses, sometimes it calls for a particular shot shape.  It is amazing what some of the pros do and how they work it almost every shot.

Normal for me is small high fade. Ive always been able to hit some low shots to bend the ball through the tress (lots of practice), but actually " working" the ball not really. Some people say that a fade is easier then a draw. Hmm..not so for me. I try to add more fade to a shot and I lose at least 2 or 3 lengths in distance. I practice the draw at the range and will throw it in on an occasion on a round if a miss wont get me in trouble. Im just trying to figure out how to control how much draw I need and coming up with a setup to achieve that. Totally lost on that setup and Im sure swing plane issues at time scramble that equation even more.

I saw oodles of guys working the ball on Friday.

 

It was interesting to see the differing strategies.
