Right there with you on the PXG golf ball. Vice would be the others that I have a particular interest in!

Yep, new DTC balls vs traditional ball manufacturers. Best ball per dollar (best value) is what I’m interested in.

Any ball that advertises as a "premium" ball at the non-premium (i.e. <$4.50 per ball) price point.

Definitely need the MaxFli Tour line in there since they decided to boost the price of the cube by 14%.

Would love to see Vice's premium line included to see if those balls have gotten any better.

Any direct-to-consumer line.

Bridgestone's value line would be great. I use the e6 for non-competitive rounds at hazardous courses to mitigate costs and would love to see how they compare to premium balls.

Also, can we include Titleist's AVX? I would really like some hard data on how that ball compares to their other premiums that might point to what kind of golfer would use it over a ProV.

One test I would like to see with this golf ball test is the water test when hitting wedge shots. I know they do this test with wedge testing but not ball testing if my memory is correct. Most interested in Maxfli and Titleist new ball testing so we can compare them to each other.

I'd love to see Piper Golf and Sugar Golf included. There are a bunch of these very small DTC brands that I think MGS might be able to find a diamond in the rough if it tests well.

And not necessarily a ball I want to see, but I hope that there's NOT a "well we tested that version two years ago, so we can just incorporate that data" attitude. I could see this being the case with balls like Left Dash or Snell's MTB-X, but even if the robot and club are exactly the same as two years ago, the testing conditions are different and not absolute. There are already plenty of discrepancies about the overall testing protocol, but "comparison" data from an entirely different testing session from two years ago would pretty significantly undercut the validity of the results.

I also want to see standard deviations. But in case it wasn't clear already, I'm not the average retail consumer.

Would like to see a fair assessment of all the balls.  There is a ball out there that fits everyone's game and pocketbook.  Me, I prefer a premium golf ball, even though I am 76 with a slow golf swing of 93mph, I do like the results I get from the Prov1, especially the new version.  A golf ball is a personal thing and about choices.  Am interested in reading the results.

Some did mention the Prov1x and left dash cutting.  I did testing on the Pro1s and Prov1xs and the Prov1x did have a tendency to cut more when skimming off a cart path or a hard object.  As far a cutting, it would take a "really bad miss" to cut a Prov golf ball with an iron.  Most any premium brand golf ball will shred with wedges if you are a hard digger and put a lot of spin on the ball.  Pros change their balls about every three holes for that reason.

Thanks.  Did not start playing this crazy game until 1985.  Worked on farm and joined the Air Force in 1965.  Went I got out in 1971, I had to go to work and support my family and did not have time to play golf.  Always played softball.  The farthest I ever hit a ball was 305 with a small head Taylormade Burner in long driver competition.  Have been blessed and lucky.  Never took lessons until five years ago.  Lowest score, 69, three days after my 68th birthday and four hole in ones.  Best round was the Ocean Course @ Kiawah Island from the Blue tees, 77.  Longest drive last year before hurting my back was 285.  Normally hit it around 220-250.  Am in PT and pain management and hope to be back to playing by end of April.  Core strengthen therapy due to scoliosis and degenerative back issues.  Have not played since Dec 12.  Am scheduled for lessons Starting March 14th.  One a week for seven weeks.  Easing back into the game.  Much more flexible than I have been in years.  Hoping for better results when I return.

How about a real world test using a ball that tests well vs. a ball that performs poorly. Maybe test using high, middle and low handicappers each randomly playing about 10 rounds with each ball.

MN Hacker just trying to improve 1 stroke at a time.

I am now using the Oncore Vero X1 or Elixir Green Matte golf Balls. The Vero X1 reacts and plays like the Pro V1. The Vero X1 2-dozen pack is $70. It is well worth a try. The Elixir has less spin and is a low compression alternative. Their Vero X2 is a 95 compression golf ball is a little too much for my 90mph swing speed.

I'm pretty much in line with what you want to see. It'll be interesting to compare how the new MaxFli balls compare to the previous models and how the Tour S fits in their lineup. The PXG ball is the big one for me...not that I'll buy them, but I would like to see if they are as good as they claim.

Yup, PXG ball.  There’s something interesting about PXG equipment.

I just think that's the big, new ball coming out. Plus, with all of Bob Parsons claims I think people will either want to see it perform really well or horribly. I wish he would have priced them around $35 because the higher price point can't beat how much I love the MaxFli Tour.

We’ll see what happens.  I don’t think Parsons would float it out there if it didn’t deliver.  Since ProV1x is my favorite ball I’m interested.

Okay, since you asked, I would like you to test the cheapest 3 piece urethane cover ball that I've ever come across, the Spalding SD Tour X. I've seen them for as low as $14.99 per doz. check these out and maybe there's a few other low end urethane balls out there that MGS could test.

I can’t remember what happened last year, but I’d love to see two articles: one that compares urethane balls and one that compares non-urethane balls.

Callaway still makes Warbirds. Wilson still makes Zips. TaylorMade still makes Noodles. Even Pinnacle still makes balls. I know these don’t compare to the next tier, but how much?

Another thing I‘d want to know is, how much impact does an ionomer ball have on a set of mid/high handicappers’ games compared to urethane? Score-wise? Distance-wise? Putting-wise?

I want to see the TaylorMade Tour Response against the big boys for swing speeds under 100. I really like the ball and have been watching some test videos against the Pro V 1. It seems to hold its own for $10 or more savings per box.

Love all these ideas! Keep them coming!

Someone else ( @GolfSpy_APH?) may be able to more definitively answer this, but I'm fairly certain the test only includes 3-piece (and up) balls, with the exception of "Range Balls".

There are already SO many options from so many companies in the 3/4/5-piece categories, that limiting the test to those balls is key.

While there are TONS of golfers out there who can only afford 2-piece construction (and/or Ionomer/Surlyn), since 99% of the "best ball in golf/fastest/awesomest" claims are only in the 3-5 piece categories, limiting the test to these would (most likely) help those customers looking for a non-urethane ball, too, since quality would (presumably) be consistent in a company's lineup.

I actually don't know and would have to look back to see.

However given the amount of DTC and better priced options from bigger OEMs I find it kinda pointless (own opinion) to test 2 piece balls. You can get a good golf ball for a decent price that has 3 layers or even 4 in some cases that isn't going to break the bank. Going down the 2 piece route would mean they would be there for the next year and a bit and by the time the data came out it wouldn't be relevant anymore.

I would appreciate more testing around the green.  I did a very unofficial test with my coach last year, and the Maxfli GG ball which was supposed to compete against the ProV was nowhere close in terms of holding greens from nearby lies.  The ProV was WAY softer.  From 150 matters, but I miss enough that from 15 matters as much!

Working at getting better ... and very slowly getting there.
