Do you wear a glove when you putt?

Saw this posted on Twitter and thought it could be a fun discussion. 
 

So, do you wear a glove when putting? 
 

I personally do not. I prefer the feel of no glove, but I can genuinely say when I started golfing I only took it off because that’s what I saw the pros do so I figured I should to!

I do wear mine. In fact I never take it off. I honestly find it an odd feel to putt without it. Been playing longer than taking a glove off was the norm.

Yes I do.  I put it on as I'm walking from the parking lot, and take it off when I'm walking to the car after the round .  My kids make fun of my pale left hand haha.  For me, it is just one more thing to have to think about, taking off the glove, putting on the glove, back and forth... and I don't even notice it is on. 

I will say that I'm in minority of the group I play with, and get comments about it.  Usually after I pull a putt dead left "you should have taken off your glove" ... my group loves to needle. haha.

I think for me at this point, it’s such a part of my routine walking to the green that I think if I didn’t do it, I’d be overthinking. Grab putter, remove head cover, tuck club under my arm and take off my glove, put it in the back right pocket and it’s time to *attempt* to sink a putt.

Mostly I don’t wear one. I will wear one in the cold weather.

I run hot... maybe the Bostonian in me... so the glove comes off after each shot.

The only time I leave it on is if its raining or cold.

Gonna be honest when I say I'm surprised to read that.  This made me think of those golf "unfair stigmas", most similar to the yellow golf ball (which I love but get needled for at my age).  

I personally do not wear mine putting, as I'm super handsy, so I take it off for short chips as well.  I just like to feel my left hand on the club for those delicate shots

If it’s hot and my hands are sweating I try to remember to… just to let it dry out while I’m on the green and heading to the next tee box.

Yes I do- over 75% of the time, unless my hand is sweaty and I've already gone through my first glove. BUT- I've been known to take it off for a short chip/pitch

Learning to golf in the "slightly" humid SE US, I've always taken my glove off after every shot.   I've tried putting with it on a few times, and either the results never turned out in my favor, or the feel just wasn't quite right, so in the end, I'll stay glove free when putting.

My glove stays on from the first tee to the last drop in the last cup at 9 or 18 depending on the round.  Less is better for me so once I tried to do the glove off thing and forgot the very next hole.  Stopped worrying about it and now glove up when heading to the practice green.  Feel can go both ways, as long as it feels right and attention is paid to what the putter is doing in the swing I say to each his/her own

Absolutely right on the feel debate! I completely agree it is 100% individual based. It's so funny how the mind works in those ways, too, because if I didn't wear a glove for my driver all the way down to a chip around the green, I think it would feel awkward. For putting, it's the exact opposite.

Yup, same here. I’ve always putted with a glove on and can’t be bothered to take it off/on between shots. If I’m playing in the summer I might switch gloves after 9, or earlier if it’s properly hot

Doesn't hurt being from Upstate/Western NY where it rarely gets hot enough to sweat through a glove (Syracuse Native speaking from experience)

I also tell myself to take my glove off for putting but, within a few holes I usually end up just leaving it on.

I am the same. I keep my glove on the whole time!!

Not going to lie, I am surprised so far to see how many keep the glove on! I feel like I rarely see it at my home course!

This time of the year I hardly take my glove off so yes I putt with it on, mostly just me forgetting it’s even on.

 

but when it’s really hot during the summer then no I take it off after every shot, and it doesn’t come back on just to putt.

No, I do not like to putt or hit chips around the green with a glove on. I believe I have more feel on the delicate chips and putts without a glove.

Oh it is more than that!  I golf in rain and a rain wet glove is not different from a sweat wet glove.  And as far as wearing gloves in heat goes, spent a year in middle east desert half of which was daytime heat over 100F wearing Nomex flight gloves because the metal, let's call it an iron, was too hot to touch with bare skin.  Ahhh  the joy of going out now into summer heat with a wide brim hat, well ventilated non-camouflage clothes, and only one hand in a glove that doesn't cover wrist and forearm.  (And you Syracuse guys get more snow than we do!!! )

I am in the camp of 60 and in the glove is off. I am very surprised by how many glovers there are here!

Right in my neck of the woods! Im from Syracuse and still live there (Camillus currently).

I have to say I prefer the feel of no glove while putting. It’s become a routine at this point to take my glove off before I even get to the green and if it stayed on for a putt that means I hit it to inches and am tapping it in and walking to the next tee.

Not related to putting but it’s also part of my pre shot routine to I take it off in between most shots tee to green. I will preface that with I am not a slow golfer by any means. Pace of play is always usually ahead of standard unless I’m spraying it haha
