Tough weather in the face of a tropical storm. Nice course though. Greens roll nice and the course is tough but fair. Having a real problem understanding why my shots are carrying 1 to 1.5 clubs short. Some say the humidity = thicker, heavier air, but I don't see this in FL so???

Yeah, I've experienced that there too. Maybe their courses use the metric system and everything is measured in meters?

Well, it finally happened, ladies and gents.

I broke 80. Given that I was +3 over the last two, you could say I smashed it.

5 true birdies, three of which counted as net eagles, which felt pretty incredible. I made over 100' of birdie putts, I FINALLY birdied a par 5 (it's a mental thing where I end up bogeying them a lot), and I felt like I didn't have any nightmare holes - missed a few makeable par putts, but... More to grow on

If this is the round we lose out in the Match Play with, I'm VERY ok with that result.

2023 goal checked off: now to break 75!

Congratulations! It's always great to crack one of those barriers you never thought you could. I'm just glad it wasn't against Texas2KeyWest!

What I've found is that you can expect to break 80 again in the very near future. When I was younger, I flirted with breaking 80 so many times I lost count. The first time I did it was November, 1994 when I was living in Rochester, New York. We had an unusually warm end of Fall/beginning of Winter and a handful of courses stayed open. I shot 78, paring the last two holes to break 80. Once I realized what I thought was impossible was possible, I ended up breaking it again the following weekend. So expect breaking it again soon!

One of the most beautiful vistas in Mexico, this course on the back 9 is a beast. Featuring oceanfront holes, wind, and sometimes whales, the back 9 is a test of nerves for even the best of golfers. It certainly bit me in the butt when I played it. I ended up with all 5 of the oceanfront holes with at least 2 over on each one. The front 9 wasn't much better. The story of my day was hole 2 where I put my tee shot into the cactus (ball lost), my third shot landed short into the cactus (lost ball), fifth shot went into the water (lost ball), seventh shot went on the green and a two putt ended the carnage with a 9. It was a truly ugly day all around.

Rough week with swing feels. Secret shaft swap happened in the second nine. Let’s just say what a difference. Driver has been hooky all week. Need to get back n and work on strike. Too many penalties as well as the second nine I ended up in 3 green side bunkers. Was 1/3 on sand saves. Bunker picture is of the up and down. Treat of the week. Holed out a chip on 18 for birdie.
