Fast Golf Stories- No Running needed.

There's a ton of threads on slow golf stories, so why not share whenever we played really fast. I'm not talking speed golf either where you run and hit your ball, just a normal round of golf played quickly or a story on your fastest round played.

There's two stories that stick out in my mind:

One was in Daytona at LPGA. I showed up at 5 in summer time and the starter and register person both had a look of "great well be here all night". I said I'll be back at 7 and they said we'll hold you to it. They clearly didn't believe me. I rolled up at 7:15 finished with 18. The moment they became shocked was when I told them my score - a rather lackluster high 80's round... and told them I was held back by a twosome. They were surprised because it was the superintendent's son who wasn't exactly granted permission to be out there and the fact I hit so many shots in so few time. They watched me via the carts GPS and thought I was a scratch golfer by how fast I was moving through the course.

The other was another late afternoon round this time in NJ. I played their a lot that year so they knew me pretty well and knew I liked to play quickly. Problem was a logjam on the course.  7 foursomes showed up within minutes of each other and were tee to green from hole 3 through 7.

The starter flat out told me I wouldn't get 18 in and that I'd be lucky to play the 9th hole before dark. At one point from hole 7-8, I played through three groups between the tee box of a par 3 and the next tee. That nine took me an hour playing through all those groups. The best part was after the round The starter saw me walking off the course and asked if I got all 9 in. I told him I got 18 in and ever since whenever he sees me he tells the group I'm with that I'm a slow player and tells that same story.

So I ask you:

What's the fastest you've played 18 walking or riding? Have you ever had a starter say something like that and then eat his words?

No starter in our course, no tee times needed.

That's why I have to tee off early to avoid the masses.

Wake up at 5:30am during weekends to tee it off at 6am and I'm usually done by 8:20am pushing a cart.

I can be home by 9am, see my daughter getting out of bed and I still have the whole Saturday and Sunday to spend with the family.

There is no starter at any course in my area. A few courses announce players to the tee over the loudspeaker. My course has no tee times; it's first come, first tee off. Since it is a 9-hole course, people coming off 9 have the right-of-way. I usually avoid the busy times because I like to practice shots on the course as they occur, so I might hit 2-3 from a particular lie. Usually around 5pm is fine. My wife and I are not the speediest golfers at our age, but we can walk 9 taking extra shots in about 75 minutes.

During the winter, I leave work at 11am and can play 9 by myself in under an hour walking. That's my lunch break!!

I have played 36 holes on our par 3 course in just under an hour..  (Speed Golf Tournament)

Typical walking time for me for 9 holes solo is between 45 min and an hour depending on how hilly the course is.

When I worked for a Muni in my 20's, I would close up at dark, and speed around 9 in a cart in under 25 min.

No practice swings, no lining up putts...  It is amazing how much better I play when I play fast.

A buddy and I walked on early.  Got the first tee time of the day due to a cancellation.  We just plain flew around that course.  When we finished 18 in 2.5 hours, the starter asked us which course we wanted to play for our back 9 (there are 3 9s here).  Told him we were done, and he didn't believe us.  So we played another 9.  The last 9 took us almost 3 hours.

There is no spoon.

Quickest round was last summer.  Brother in law and I teed off at 7am.  Each with our own carts and both of us played well shooting mid 70's.  I was home by 9am.  In fairness it's a 5 min drive in the cart from the clubhouse to my house.

When unblocked, I will do 9 in a cart in a little under an hour - no rushing involved.

When I was much younger we played a fundraiser called "The Longest Day of Golf" and we did as a foursome 101 holes in a day including mandatory breaks.  Turns into about 1.5 hours per round and we were rushing.

I much prefer a comfortable pace.  While I despise slow play, its equally annoying to be with guys who think the round is a race.

I used to play as the rabbit every once in a while at my former club and would turn 18 in under two hours as a single in a cart. No rush just got out to play and done. Was usually home in time for breakfast with the family. Was also a nice round before work on a random weekday.

Last year my nephew, one of my buddies, and I played our course in 2.5 hours. Tees off around 6 pm and were in the parking lot by 8:30, we all played well and hat helped, the scores were 72, 75, 81, I was the 81. We didn't feel like we played fast, we just never had any trouble.

My buddies and I regularly play 18 in 3hrs 20 - 30 minutes midweek.  It's dependant on who's out on the course of course and how much waiting we have to do.  That's as a 4some looking for balls.   Have done it in 3hrs but as a pair and both of us shot in the 70's.

As a group we played 9 in an hour last night. That group was a 16-some though with 4 groups of 4. We played the first three as a scramble and then went alternate shot for the next 6
