Tested the red number balls out yesterday I can't say exactly what it is,but I did enjoy playing them.they seamed a bit longer than my TM TP5 but spun less.but they just punched the green 1 week ago so they were still sandy. So I'll try next week for some putting thought.

I was given a dozen NXT Tour balls a year or so ago and played them. That was before the new version came out earlier this year. Fine off the tee and into the green. They will stop and even spin back with a good wedge shot. But on short chips and pitches they will run out six or eight feet more than a premium ball depending on the shot. Once I learned they roll out more on shots around the green, I didn't mind playing them. I just had to adjust my landing area. But you may encounter a shot now and then that you can't stop as close to the hole as you would want... or as close as you could with a premium ball. I didn't like them enough to keep buying them. I buy the ProV1 or sometimes the ProV1x.

Played my red numbers today along with my regular "x". shot 74 at Rooster Run. 1-same length off the driver, 2-Irons-feels and acts same as "x", rolls really well on very good greens. I did skull one 9-iron and the "x" would have been cut and taken out of play but this ball showed NO marking. I already noticed it is "whiter" than other ProVs. I think it is a new cover. Sound is good and ball flight holds line. Different dimple pattern upon examination. So, think it spins less but checks up as well as my "x". I'll play another round with the same ball (no scuff marks at all) to see. My buddy who plays the regular ProV thought it was hard and had lower ball flight.

Finally got to test the prototypes....mine are S3 Prototype 2 with Red numbers.

I have been playing with Cally Diablo Tours, so am used to them rolling out on the green...Played two holes with only my ball to warm up....Par 4's ....had a Par & Bogey....Third hole was a Par 3 174 yards....approach from tee box is a play directly over a bunker with the pin in the middle of the green...I hit the Diablo Tour with a soft 4H and it went straight to the middle of the green, rolling out about 15 ft behind the pin....Next shot was also a soft 4H...trajectory was straight and the ball dropped to the left of the green, about 12 feet from the pin....I was impressed, not with the ball but with my shots...both on the green!....After 9 holes, I had 3 drives where the Titleist was longer....#9 it was 20 yds longer than the Diablo Tour....As for feel, it was def softer on the irons and much softer on the putter...had to put more into the putts to get the same distance.

My next round will be to test it against other Pro v1x's...will let you know.

The ones I got today, were much like the Velocity, perhaps a bit longer, but with spin. That would make them the perfect ball. I only hit two tee shots with them and a couple of approach shots. The cart broke but my initial impression is this is an awesome ball.

Edit: I just want to expound on this ball. It was as long as the Velocity, but spun better, like a Pro V1.

Nope. At least last time they did not, but then again, I had what eventually became the Velocity and they did not announce it for another year plus.

Played Sunday with the 2009 Pro V1x and the "Test" ball.

Of the two, the "Test" ball had much less side spin, so it actually went farther. The "Test" ball had plenty of stop when I hit the greens. A little less than the 2009 model, but still very adequate and so much more than other balls.

As for finding out exactly which ball I tested, I don't think I will ever know for sure.

Played mine today (prototype 1 with black numbers) - compared it to the ProV1x. Found the balls to be almost identical -- test ball was maybe a tad longer -- but it's awfully hard to tell. I usually hit it 2nd, so the results may be off - but my longest drives of the day were with the test ball. Both balls were fairly straight with the driver - neither went right or left more than the other - so I'd say driver spin was the same. With scoring irons it sure as heck spins like the ProV, too! Was putting like crap so it's hard to compare feel. It was, after all 41 degrees!
