I keep staring down a Mizuno Pro 225 4 iron and a Ping G425 hybrid. I am not sure if I’m ready to move away from the 4 iron yet. I’ve also been watching for a Seemore Mallet type of putter. I love my FGP, but would love to try the mallet. Anyone have any recent change success stories from blade to mallet?

I play the PING 425's.  I have a 3 Hybrid and in the woods I have the 3 and the 7.  I have to say that the 3 hybrid is just great, I am not a huge hitter but I can get that 180 and I find it launches very well. I also love my 7 wood, it is a bit shorter but lands on the greens very well and  holds better than a 3 wood or hybrid.  I personally think you cannot go wrong with that set of PING hybrids/woods.  My trainer liked my 7 wood so much he wants to get one.

Man, I like this topic! haha

I've been obsessed with looking into equipment recently.  I'd love to pull the trigger on a combo set of Sub70 659 CB and TC but I'm not sure I play enough to justify doing it.  I also may not be on the ball striking level I need to be to get the most out of them.  I've gone as far as plugging all my old equipment into the "trade-in program" area on their website to see how much I could get out of the ones I'm replacing and all the other stuff just laying around in the garage.  Barring a full iron set I've been considering a utility iron, like a 2 iron, just for some fun off the tee, haha.

Still, as much as I'd like to constantly be getting new stuff, I'll have to play a lot more to make it worth it....alas, someday!

I keep hearing about how a 7 wood is a cheat code. Now I want one. Bad.

And my hybrids are from a decade ago. Old TaylorMade RocketBallz. I’d love to replace those with some newer technology as well. But I’d only do one hybrid instead of two I think

Other than that I’m quite happy with my set.

Ordered a Fujikura Vista Pro shaft yesterday for my Ping 425 hybrid [5] . They are very reasonably priced promoted as getting the ball up in the air high and are available as low as a 40gram class shaft so they will be lighter than the stock Pings which should equal more ball speed. If this looks good on the 5H a 3 H with the same shaft is coming my way. Not bad for around 100$ and that will include hosel adapter and GP MCC+4 grips.

I had 7 wood before and when I bought my PING 425s last year I did get the 7 wood.  I have to say it is really a great club, likely the most consistent club in my bag that I can hit without a worry.  And it cranks, it will get 165 or so when I connect.  I do use it on slightly shorter par 3's, for example say a 150, because I don't trust my 6 iron so I just lay off it a bit with the 7 wood, and it just has such a nice trajectory and when it lands it is stopping quickly.  For me it is my go to club much more often than my 3 hybrid or wood. I never use my 5 wood either.

How much distance do you get on the 5 hybrid? I am nbt a huge hitter (I average 200-210 on my drive) but with my PING 3 hybrid I am around 180 or so. I am using the Alta CB (stock PING).  I was thinking about the Hybrid 5 but wasn't sure where it would gap and with my 7 wood I can cover a lot of ground from the fairway.  Is th Vista Pro shaft stiff?

I get about 165-170  with the 5H now. Im more comfortable with the hybrid if i dont have a clean lie than the 7 wood. IF IF IF lol I get more height from the new shaft I will dial the loft up or down to gap to my 6 iron which is my lowest iron and probably add a 4 or 3 H . I have room since I dont have any iron lower than a 6. I have high hopes for the new shaft and may even try the fairway wood version in my 7 wood but its 45 bucks more . To be honest theres 1 hole at my main course I can cut over the trees off the Tee and cut the corner with the 7 that people without a high lofted wood cant so its my cheater lol.

7w tryout for me always begins in romance and ends in frustration. I think it's because my swing is on the violent side rather than smooth. I swing harder and want it to go further. A 5h does this, a 7w just goes higher.

My dad is the same way, he bought a BB21 7w he was hitting well at PGA SS, fell out of love, went back to ping g30 5h. He gave me the 7w, beautiful club only played 3 or 4 times, I liked it the first 2 rounds, but ended up trading it to Call. PO to get my super hybrid.

Recently placed my order for six pack of FJ TechSof Tour Sport Roll Tab Socks, Rose Tropical Chestband Lisle Shirt from FJ Bluffton Collection, White/Light Blue from their Essentials, and Hydrolite X Short Sleeve Rain Shirt Grey/Navy, all with FJ logo on collar, which most likely will be in around late July.  Will definitely be looking at the new Titleist T300 irons, when then come out in late September, early October.  Once I get back to playing the end of this month, will consider Titleist TSR 5 or 7 wood to my armament.  Have made a few adjustments to my current hybrids to see how they play out after all this rehab and lessons.  If they are good to go, may just keep them.  Who knows.  Being I have not played since December, have some shoes that need to be worn that I purchased last year.  Four fairly new pairs of FootJoys ( 2 Premieres and 2 Traditions).

Yes, this is the rabbit hole I don't want to plunge down. Went through this finding a wedge to play next to the Apex AW. 52/8° vokey wasn't right for me but bending 50/8° to 52/10° was goldilocks.

My hope is I can exhibit the touch I like to think I have and further develop my "soft hands" making myself use 45-52-56.

Closing them out, making room for the new irons.  Looking for the new release this fall.  I played AP3s until the new T300s were released in 2019.  Thought about the next cycle in 2021, but passed, which is what CarlsDiscount has on sale.  The 2023 release would be this fall.  The metals/woods were released last year, and Titleist alternates years on their releases with iron and metal/woods.  The 2021 T300 is the latest model in the current Blue Book for golf clubs PGAValueguide.com.

I just finished listening to the Plugged In Golf podcast. The guest was Terry Koehler of Edison Wedges. I will have to consider Edison for my next wedges. He made some excellent points about the wedge game and how wedges have evolved or not evolved over the years. Clearly playing the same wedges as the pros is probably not the best option for a hack like me. 😆

The 2021 T300 is the latest model in the current Blue Book for golf clubs PGAValueguide.com.

seems odd the other T models are listed as 2021 and the 300's as 2023. Any possibility of a staggered rollout and the 300 is the 1st model?

Almost pulled the trigger on a set of zx5/7 split set, but decided better of it.

They did look like a great fit, but can't quite justify it. Plus new wedges should be here in the next week or so!

Thinking of shafts for driver. My driver is just taking a while to come along with my swing work. Wondering if moving to a different profile type would help and also not cause me to have bad habits. Something like an rdx blue or GD or even a try at Otto Phlex.

Have you tried the True Temper Project X hzrdus smoke yellow shaft? Counter balance low spin lower launch, yet very user friendly. I love this shaft! Maybe get a fitting and give this one a try.

Ya I used to game rdx blue before Ventus black and liked it as well. Has my best driving season ever last season with Ventus black. Just need to get out more to get some hitches out

Was in contact with Carl's customer service and they confirmed that those on sale are the 2019 T300 releases (Titleist changed over all the AP1, AP2, AP3 series to the T series in 2019).  Next release was 2021 which are currently in stores and catalogs and now the 2023s will be released this fall.  No staggered rollout for these clubs.  Have been discussing the new clubs with the Titleist rep at events we work together as well as discussing which shafts I should get my Titleist certified fitter.

Steel Fiber Aerotech or Fujikura Axiom VeloCore for irons... Discuss!

Haha.  Just wondering if anyone has had a chance to swing these two shafts side by side (or at least had a chance to test out the Fujikura Axiom shafts)?  I'm considering an iron shaft upgrade at some point in my future and will try to do some testing of my own (I have tried the Aerotech i95... great shafts).  But Fujikura is... well... Fujikura.

Doing some due diligence here...

Looking for any and all options for a driving iron or a hybrid-iron. I currently switch between a 3 iron and a 3 hybrid with a 4 hybrid that stays in the bag, but I am looking to replace the hybrids with irons. Does anyone have any recommendations or ideas? I've tested the calloway driving irons for this year and I hit them well, but want to hear how you guys finish off the top end of the bag and also what has been your experience if you switched from hybrid to iron or vice versa.
