Good morning spies! Boy, do I feel better today. No more of this feeling like I am going to slosh onto the floor. Have to take it easy for a few day so will probably just walk. Get my 15 K steps in and call it good. Temps will be in the mid-90s today so I will wear a hat that has the neck flap. 

tdc1 a friend of mine got me playing on the weekends if there was a tournament I want to play in coming in focus. The frustrating slow and stupid play of weekenders who are out for a good time - don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with that especially if that is the only time you can play- is the BEST tournament training ever!  Tournament play, say a scramble, and the 4 guys in front of you are 205 yards from the front of the green and there isn't a one of them who can hit the green from that far. What you see is all four of them looking through their range finders at the flag. Then arguing about who's range finder is correct. That just drives me bonkers. I would rather chase weekend golfers who spend the entire day working the edge of the trees looking for the ball they put there.

Caught some of the RBC this morning and made the fam breakfast. Now heading to the gas station to gear up for the first lawn mow of the season and boy does it need it. Other than that just tidying up the house and hopefully setting us up for a relaxing Sunday.

I've been cutting my own hair (what's left of it) for years. Bought a set of clippers at Walmart for $20, use a #2 clipper guide and just buzz myself. But the clipper isn't working so well lately, so it may be time for a replacement.

Good morning all from a chilly Saturday morning. In Milwaukee for a work conference so was an early start to the day.

Vortex HQ visit yesterday was awesome. Got a full tour of their entire campus, got to check out their hunting/shooting lines as well as their new golf rangefinders. Was a super cool experience and am already looking forward to going back this summer for some on site shooting classes they offer. 

Also played a little golf yesterday and got off to a pretty good start at +3 through 5 holes, then the wind got out of control and made it almost unplayable with the cold. Looking forward to normal golf conditions haha

Yeah, I've had similar.Ha ha. For many years (college to my mid 30s) I used clippers to cut my own hair. During Covid lockdown I had my daughter cut my hair with clippers for the fun of it. Haven't grown it since then and keep using the excuse of that saving $30-40 per month that I can use on golf. lol

Good Saturday morning All!

Stormy morning here with 1/2" already on the rain gauge. Thankfully, other than the wind and lightening, nothing severe or forecast for the remainder of the day. Just going to rain all day with predictions of 1 1/2" or more by the time it moves out tomorrow morning.

@Dead Solid Bogey I don't envy your "cloth camp" day as I lived through the torturous ordeal the majority of last week and into this week. Fortunately, I believe I have paid off the obligation associated with my V5 purchase as it hasn't been mentioned for the past couple of days...

@buckpillar Glad to hear your MIL is doing well and on the road to recovery.

@Wheelieb Hoping for positive results on your scan.

For a while, you will still get up. I spent 35 years working in remote oilfields 7 to 42 12-hour days stacked up on each other, then home for up to a month. I am still up by 6 and it has taken 10 years of retirement to get me out of bed that late. As for things to do, turn off the TV and attack life with a joyful gusto! Learn new things all the time and every day will be fresh with opportunities for enjoyment. Me, I have learned how to weld, wood carve, do macrame (I do macrame at night when we do turn the tv on) and play the guitar to name a few. Plus (when healthy) have gotten my handicap down to an 8 index. Retirement is fantastic.

Good morning MGSpies from the suburbs of Rochester enjoying a brunch with my son doing a drop off and pickup for things needed at his RIT apartment and our house. Had a great fitting yesterday and learned facts about my swing and ball striking that was pleasantly surprising and the only thing that would have been better was a tee at the in between "gap" height apparently that I use. Should be getting outside when I get home to start taming the grass back into the appearance of a lawn, and hope golf is a part of your day

Good morning! A wonderful, windy, 40* kids’ soccer Saturday morning. Thankfully we picked up coffee and donuts this morning to help thaw us out a little bit! This afternoon will hopefully consist of a nice nap and some chores! 

spent some time last night combining different DF3 alignment aids with photoshop and there are a couple I could really go for! I'll post them in the testing thread later today.

It's the weekend!

I did sneak out for a quick 9. The weather was due to get warm and sunny.  I found wind gusts, chill and some white frozen things drifting down from the skies. 
I did manage to par 10, 16 and 18. The 3 hardest handicap in the back nine. 
We won't talk about the easier holes. 

At 16 someone followed youtuber golfsidekick advice "to plant a feather, grow a birdie"

Good morning from Kirkland, WA!  We've got some great weather right now, mid-60s and sunny, except with 20-30mph winds.  So I got out for 18 yesterday and got in a few good shots, but also a few that took that wind for a ride!!  Hope you all have a great weekend.

Her current car is a 2018 VW Golf Alltrack wagon with a 6-speed manual, and she has owned several Subarus and VW Rabbit/Golf GTI models throughout the course of our marriage. It has gotten to the point where her options are extremely limited when shopping for a new vehicle, and she fears that there will be no reasonably-priced cars with manual transmissions when she wants or needs her next vehicle.

RIT is my undergraduate Alma mater! I attended “the institute” from late 1970 through 1977, taking some classes and labs at the downtown Rochester campus (50 W. Main St.) and other classes at what was then the “new” Henrietta Campus, which has been greatly expanded over the years since I was a student there.

Good morning from DFW!

About as rainy this morning as I’ve ever experienced and scatter thunderstorms. So looks like a break from golfing today after recording a decent day in my round yesterday after work.

My fiancé is still rounding out her bag after getting some cobra irons and a Callaway driver last summer, and she’s been using a RAM blade putter that came with her first set. I let her try my Evnroll putter yesterday and now it sounds like we are heading to PGA Superstore for her to hit some putters and maybe pick up a new mallet. I’ll probably buy something I shouldn’t today. 5-wood? Driver? Wedges? Only time will tell. Shopping with my gut, not my brain today.

So we went out for breakfast and then ran some errands. I then made it out for 9 holes in chilly and windy conditions but it was still quite enjoyable.

Couple of years ago I picked up a $30 Wahl trimmer with all the numbered combs - works great and yeah I have *DEF* gotten my money's worth on that purchase!!
...and the wife has finally gotten used to my occasional minor slip / extra close buzzed spot...

Well, they got us!

she got set up with an Odyssey White Hot Fang Style putter. She will need to get used to it but she was rolling the em super consistently. Always excited to see her be excited. 

I hit some drivers but wasn’t really loving the service I was getting with dialing it in and felt like I should spend some time dialing my swing and getting rid of my slice, and then find somewhere for a proper fitting. No harm on waiting and using my M5. 
But I did get myself a new 5 wood. I hit a few different models Qi10, Ai Smoke, Darkspeed, and TSR2. I ended up getting the TSR2 and loved the consistency I was getting. It will also fill in the gap between my 3-wood and 4 hybrid while also giving me a good option off the tee box. The sound and feel of the club is great, we did deloft it by a degree (21°->20°) and gained a few extra yards. Overall a good day of purchases. I’ll need to pull a wedge to stay at 14 clubs but between my 52° and 60° I’ll need to decide which I pull but I have time to figure it out.

maybe when the time comes I’ll grab a TSR driver.

MyGolfSpouse learned to drive stick when she fell in love with a 1982 silver and black Dodge Charger 2.2 and it only took her a few minutes to discover the joy of manual transmission.  That vehicle was driven into the ground and literally died arriving at a dealership to take possession of a1995 green 4-door Suzuki Sidekick stick with 4WD manual locking front hubs.  That vehicle lasted just over a year and was t-boned in a hazardous intersection but it saved my wife who was carrying our daughter born 6 months later, the Suzuki replaced by a 1997 white 2-door Ford Explorer V6 with overdrive stick and selectable low range with auto locking hubs. 

  

The Ford suffered rustbelt rot over the 10 years we had it replaced by a Ford Fusion she tolerated because it did not have a stick and neither did the leased Chevy's, Equinox and Trax that replaced it when the Fusion became my son's car.  When son was looking to buy his own Ford Bronco Sport, and his sister was already liking the Chevy Trax, he easily swayed his mom to look at the Subaru Crosstrek available in a manual transmission and full time 4WD as all Subarus are. 

That is her current vehicle that took very little time for her to get used to the clutch pedal again.  And she only forgot once to shift into gear after turning off the motor and found it in the street minutes later - claims she just doesn't have the arm strength to put the hand brake on hard enough to stop it rolling but truth is if she does pull it on that hard,  she can't release it again.

My bane to driving stick:  I learned to drive standard transmission as it was called then, in Driver's Ed in a brand new 1978 Dodge Aspen 2-door, owned a '85 Plymouth Volare station wagon with 318 V8 with 4spd OD stick, for years drove all manner of US Army vehicles, and then there was the '97 Explorer.  I had driven the Volare towing my Catalina 22 sailboat on it's trailer to Mt Desert Island, ME (before I ever met my wife) for vacation - launched and sailed out of Southwest Harbor - and on the way home got into stop and go traffic on I-95 heading towards NH clutching in and out of 1st gear.  My knee was on fire with the effort and I had to get off the interstate and used the Mohawk Trail to keep from blowing my knee out.  The clutch pedal range on the Explorer was so similar to the Volare's that I could only clutch about 20 times before I could no longer push the clutch to shift.  It became the vehicle I could not drive for most of the years we owned it.  The Crosstrek thankfully gives me no such discomfort.

I have always loved the direct control of power to the drive wheels with a stick and I know it is not supposed to be done but knocking it out of gear on a downhill is an amazing way to get great gas mileage though a policeman friend of mine once observed me doing it and I got a lecture for the next many miles lol

I didn’t realize until I got home that that’s closer to a 7 wood than a 5 wood and 7 woods have a lot of overlap with the 4 hybrid I already have.
 

Just want to get everyone’s thoughts. Should I take the club back and swap for an 18° wood. Or would the 20° wood and 4 hybrid both serve a purpose in my bag? I was hoping to have an option of the tee and fairway with the 5 wood. I loved how the 7 wood was feeling but feel it might be redundant. 
what are your thoughts?

Hit them all, chart the distances, flight bias, etc then make a well informed decision.  If you don't want to hit your new one, see if they have a demo you can hit.

Ok…so that didn’t go as expected.  I moved the projector to 6’ 11” to 7’ 1” from the screen as per the manufacturer’s website and validated by Carl’s and Projector Central’s own throw calculators…and I can’t cover my 96” tall x 108” wide screen.  Projector is mounted just below the lip of the enclosure ( to not clip the image) and I’ve got a 24” band at the bottom I simply can’t fill, no matter how I orient the projector or play with the various settings...I’ve played with digital zoom, digital correction…nada.  Anyone else happen to be using an Optoma GT2100HDR projector that could share some insights please?  Any/all help greatly appreciated!

Not gonna lie, I enjoyed the hell out of driving a deuce and half. But I’m sure the folks on I-90 going up Snoqualmie Pass following the military convoy going from Ft. Lewis to the Yakima Firing Center weren’t too happy. I discovered once a deuce and half stops on an incline it sure doesn’t move too fast afterwards. LOL
