The Good Morning Thread

Good morning spies. It’s been 10 days since my last round of golf due to busy schedule and poor weather. I think that is officially driving me batty. The forecast today is calling for rain after work (again) but I’m talking clubs with me and hoping that the forecast is wrong again. 9, 18, or a range session will be fine as long as I can swing some clubs.

Good morning MGSpies from a neck of the woods where first light was apparent when I looked outside at the 5am alarm here in WNY with eager anticipation for long hours of daylight for golf into the evening, that is already upon us!  Half day of work with son's induction ceremony and reception for the Order of the Engineers this afternoon, tomorrow he graduates and it will be a full day.  So not anticipating participation in the Community Call today which I know is rare but I promise it will be okay anyway lol  Got out for 9 holes after work yesterday with a spry threesome of young men on carts and we all managed to complete in 90 minutes ahead of the league in what started out as gusty with showers overcast and ended with light winds, sunny but cooler conditions.  Hope golf is a part of your day!

Having a couple of biscuits and getting ready to do battle with fellow Senior against the golf gods... Outlook is promising but questionable for a good round, however, the trash talk and storytelling is always above par.

Looking forward to the community call later this afternoon.

DF3 putters have arrived for the testers to begin testing.  Initial unboxing, impressions and testing have begun. So far, a very impressive start by these premium and high quality L.A.B. Putters. It’s a holiday today, so it’s household chore day. We’re prepping the fence to be painted. When I say “prepping” I mean scrubbing off the layers and layers of moss on it.

Hard to believe in 3 weeks will be on the way to RNK in VA!! .. so gotta continue prepping...

Good morning spies! Slept in this morning and am feeling kind of groggy. Cloudy and rainy weather today, so unfortunately, no golf for me. Should be a busy day with work and grad school. My in laws are coming to town tomorrow night and are spending the weekend with us. Gotta get everything done before they come, that way we can relax and enjoy the time with family.

Good morning Spies on a much cooler and cloudy Michigan morning.

Unsure what my goals to accomplish today are, depending upon the weather I had a list of things I would like to get done or do.

@Byrnzee safe travels and have fun on your trip.

@EasyPutter Derek congratulations to your son and enjoy the ceremonies and celebrations.

@William P and @tdroma98 have fun and enjoy yourselves out on the course.

@berkeleybob think a power-washer would make that task a bit easier to finish?

Golf league tonight.  I wasn't sure if I'd make it.  I took my 15 year old son out on the interstate loop (494) for some driving practice during rush hour last night as prep for him driving up to our lake place Tomorrow after work and back Saturday to get needed driving hours before he turns 16.

Happy throwback Thursday MGS troops!!! The spousal unit is 400 miles away on one of her business trips before surgery so los poopies kept me warm on the couch.

Good luck! I remember teaching my kids and getting their hours in. Zoey learned to drive in Denver rush hour traffic on the way to hockey practice. The drive was two hours one way from Cheyenne Wyoming to Littleton Colorado, 5 days a week. She racked up the hours pretty fast!

Day 4 of my son trying to kill me at the gym.  This morning he told me that we were going to do a version of a workout that is used for Navy SEALS conditioning.  To be honest the only time we should be talking about what the SEALS do is if we are watching a documentary.  At least I was able to tie my shoes this morning so that was a positive.  Today is my wife's birthday so no golf on the agenda, maybe a quick laid back dinner out tonight or quite frankly was whatever she decides we are doing.  Hope everyone has a good day.

Just a note that I will make a lot of jokes about this gym process but I have possibly the only 18 year old that is willingly getting up two hours earlier four days a week to go to the gym with me.  Makes me think I did something right with him.

Good morning Spies! Planned workout yesterday sidetracked by work and honey-dos, and work is coming in fast and furious this morning. Hoping to finish it and the remaining honey-dos in time to (a) join the community call and (b) get in another workout.

Still have the top bid on the DF 2.1 putter on eBay, three days after I placed it. Will I sneak in a bargain? We shall see.

@Byrnzee enjoy your trip to my neck of the woods, sorta. Four hour drive from here if you're in the Charlotte area, but anyway. It's supposed to be cooler this weekend after two days of 90ish weather.

Good Morning everyone!  Hope you are safe from the T-storms and tornados!  It’s 43º and sunny; headed to 83º today.  Seems like we have had our 2 weeks of spring and now jumping right into summer… low 90’s this weekend!!

Something weird… on May 1 my wife woke up in the middle of the night because she felt something blowing in her ear.  She looked over at me… I was asleep and facing the other way.  She told me this when we got up that morning.  Fast forward to yesterday… she heard from a friend that her ex-husband and former work colleague had passed away on May 1.  Coincidence?  They have remained friends for over 20 years.  Sad news, and we will not be here for services since we are leaving for our cross country trip.

Good morning all, or afternoon as it is here now. 
Had a busy morning today as went to get fitted for contact lenses and boy what a difference they make. Much prefer them over wearing glasses, especially for work as I regularly end up breaking them. 
Another beautiful day here but also another duty day so no golf for me. I will try and get on the community call later but will have to see how things go.

I've had cats and dogs over the years, and contrary to their aloof reputation, I've found cats to be much more snuggly. I'm usually sleeping between two of them until the older one decides its time for her breakfast and paws at my face or gives me a wet-nose kiss, or both.

Good morning, Spies!! Happy Friday Eve!

Last night was a pretty nasty one. Heave storms came through and made a mess. All 5 courses here are closed until noon due to the storms. They went from Severe Storm Warning to Tornado Watch to Tornado Warning to Flood Warning. Lots of lightening and rain pretty much all night. Gotta love being woken up in the middle of the night when the house shakes due to a huge thunder clap.

I was actually having dinner at my folk's place when it all started. Lots of lightening and thunder but the rain was somewhat normal. After dinner heading home, it got much worse. It's only 4.8 miles, but there was a lot of debris o the roads, lightening pretty much non-stop, winds into the double digits, and the rain came down much heavier than before.

Looking outside into my front yard and street, lots of small branches and leaves scattered around. Plus, our grass is already looking like a wheat field and now it won't get mowed for at least another day or two. Oh well, that's just the way it goes I guess. Luckily we didn't see any tornadoes here in the community and power surprisingly didn't go out. Small victories.

Had a great 9 hole round of 41 yesterday. Ball striking and putting was solid aside from a couple three putts. Hoping to keep that momentum rolling through the season.

Had my 9 of 2024 (outdoors) yesterday. Seems like the work in the offseason is working out with the irons. Shot a +9 due to 2 blowup triples. Good contact overall. Beautiful weather. Feel like the winter is finally leaving!
