Alcohol is also a vasodilator, which is a fancy way of say it allows for greater blood flow to your extremities and surface of the skin. This is why you feel warmer after drinking but also leads to lower core temperature. Great way to warm up briefly but an even better way to suffer from cold exposure.

Greetings from Central NY. Woke up to the first snow of the season. Two cups down and blueberry pancakes for breakfast. Took the old pupper for a wintery walk. 
Golf is definitely not in the forecast.

.... Just brutal. Snow in October.  As I like to say everything is a trade off. On another thread several are dealing with sump pump issues. Most homes in the desert don't have sump pumps because there isn't enough rain to need one, and that is in the very few homes that actually have a basement. For us the insane heat of this summer slid into the beautiful low humidity mid 80's and the next 6 months of ideal golf weather. The "cold" snaps will be in the 50's and very few of those in Jan/Feb. It was in the 80's here for the Super Bowl last year. 

... So while 55 days over *110 and 22 days over 115* was brutal this summer, I am quite willing to trade that for many more months of cold weather. And the only snow I ever want to see again is in pictures.

Yep; I grew up just outside of Buffalo and other than my time in the USMC in the late 1960s, I spent the first 31 years of my life in Western NY. It was not at all unusual for us to have snow, sometimes quite significant snowfall, in October.

I remember several Halloweens as a young kid where I went out trick-or-treating in a snowsuit underneath my Halloween costume.

When I was 24 years old, I purchased an old Jeep (basically, a civilian version of a military Jeep), and installed a hydraulic plow on the front of it. I used that Jeep for about 5 years for plowing neighborhood driveways and parking lots at area shopping centers and car dealerships beginning at about 3:00-3:30 AM during and after every snowstorm before going to work at 7:30.

Frigid day here in the Villages, woke up to 62* temps and it's still a brisk 68  at 1:15! Time to get the woolies out of the  attic.

It's in the 20's here this morning, but at least the wind isn't blowing like it was yesterday. It would have been a great morning to sleep in.

I'm just hanging out in the car listening to podcasts and drinking my coffee. I'm looking forward to the community call tonight, it should be another good one.

Another cool day here, we got a quick snow shower yesterday but it amounted to nothing thankfully. Not quite ready for too much of that yet. Wife's car goes in for inspection today, so here's hoping everything goes well there.

Good morning Spies on a coo, crisp morning here. Looking like today will be the last day this week with high temps. in the 40's, so it looks like my golf season here continues on for another week.

Planning to play both Friday and Sunday if all goes well.

Good morning,  my respected fellow spies. Thursday has just wandered in bringing a tad bit of chill with it. Will be hard pressed to get much above 70 today. 
 I am always amazed on how well I start out playing after having been gone from the golf course for a week or longer. I played well on the front and got three holes into the back nine before all of my a sundry bad swing memories came to the forefront. Heck, I even hit wedges well, including two sandies. Then on the back nine the wedges remembered they don’t like me and quit working. 
  Heading back to the course this morning. The frightful female supervisor of the planet is up early and heading out to surely do NO good. I am making a “ poor man’s breakfast “ of a toaster grilled cheese…

Then heading to the store to complete my mandatory worker drone duties before heading to the course. Paramount on my reminder list is 

Thursday is a good day to use as a practice day for the coming weekend… May y’all  make today a good day, in whatever it may bring.

Good morning spies and a happy Thursday to you all. Today is Friday for me sinceI took tomorrow off work as we will be heading to St. Louis for a soccer tournament. Should be the last one of the season, I think.

No golf today but, I might try to sneak a round in tomorrow before we hit the road. We shall see.

Good morning spies! We are creeping into the 50°s for the next couple of days here in Iowa! Lately, it hasn't gotten above 40°, so this is going to feel quite nice! Today is going to be a busy day, as I've got work and then I'm off to officiate a basketball game. My wife is heading out of town for the weekend as well, so I'm an empty nester for the next few days. Hoping that today and tomorrow go quickly, and the weekend will be here before we know it.

Good morning everyone. Another cold morning but it’s my Friday for the week as I’m off work tomorrow to take one of my boys to his wheelchair basketball tournament in MN. Had fun yesterday playing a 9-hole two man scramble event at Arbor Links for our caddy celebration event. Our ten man team lost 3.5 to 1.5 but my partner and I secured the only full point for our team so that was cool. Kinda . Hope everyone has a great day ahead!

Woke up to a frost covered ground, though it is supposed to get up to 50 today. Which is nice, as we are getting week 2 of the Top Tracer virtual league in tonight. Also, this weeks gentle reminder that today is the community call at 4pm EST. Should be a good time, so drop by!

Enjoying a cuppa on a brisk 33 degree day here in Central NY. Clear skies and snow is no longer on the ground. I’ve discovered I don’t like golf in the 30s. Golf days will become gym days.

Cold Central Florida morning, 58 degrees.  No golf this morning.  Wife went out for her 5 mile walk, now that's dedication! LOL. Busy work day, hope to get to range this afternoon.

Yeah... I was there last year for two weeks of 30's, 40's, and 50's.  I'm going to see if Palm Springs is better this winter.

Good morning! I worked from home yesterday and snacked on too much of my kids' halloween candy so my guts aren't feeling the best this morning. Hopefully a good cup of coffee will help. The weather is a bit warmer today in South MI. Hopefully it's warm enough to get out to the range today and then tomorrow I have an 18 hole round planned at one of the nicer public courses in the area with a couple of friends I don't see very often. I'm very much looking forward to it!

Good morning...a brisk 28 this morning when i took the dog out.  I am gonna have to switch to long pants on those walks.

Warming up this weekend to the 60's again so some golf will be scheduled!

Good Morning everyone!  A balmy 40º warming up to 60º but that's because rain came in last night.  At least for the next week, we won't have any frost delays.  I got out our golf cart cover for this weekend.  It's 7 years old and looks a little "weathered", but hopefully will last through this winter.  

Another day of No Golf but I'm getting some good swing practice in my hitting bay.  I developed a bad habit this year of taking a look at my club path on the backswing and it has affected my striking consistency.  I've found that it's a hard habit to break, but it's something to work on all winter.

For those back east with cold and snow, I hope this warming trend here moves across the country and you can get a few more rounds played before this epic winter sets in.

Good morning all from another chilly Wisconsin morning, but temps are starting to move back towards normal ranges today. My Ventus shaft was delivered yesterday and I got a tour velvet midsize grip thrown on right away so it is ready for a range session tomorrow. Won't be able to get up there today due to a full day of work followed by parent teacher conferences, but tomorrow it is happening.

I have a dentist appointment at 11 tomorrow which will end my workday and I will hit the range for a minimum one hour, maybe sneak in a few holes to see how the Ventus plays on course as well. Can't wait!

Good Morning Spies!

Today is National Ohio Day!  O-H-I-O!! 

Chilly start to the day this morning. Warming a bit this afternoon with sunshine. Hoping to get out on the mat or maybe range later today after I perform my work duties.

On another note, I did a thing…. just ordered a set of Takomo 101T irons. Been seeing a LOT of good things about these and wanted to give them a go. Smaller head and profile so we will see how these hit compared to my current gamers.
