Best round of the year going. I caught up to the worst hack in the county that insisted on using a range finder on every shot!!! Finished double, triple, bogey. Ended up with a 80. Stood in the fairway on 18 for 10 minutes trying to pick a club to hook it in the trees!!! Come on ya JackWagon!!! Get off the course!!

Made an appointment for 1:30pm for an oil change (can't do it at my apartment) show up 10 minutes early. They tell me it only takes 20-30 minutes.i waited nearly 50 minutes for them. I go back to the office and say what the heck is going on. They're apologetic and say oh you're next. Somehow I doubt that.

haha yea it seems the household necessities are programmed to crash after about two years. They crash later than that if you have a one or two year extended warranty on top of the original warranty

 

Heck I was watching the news one night and saw this about the Samsung washing machine lids exploding. Glad I did because I would have shat all over myself if I was walking by the washing machine and the lid flew off!

Spam / Scam Telemarketers.

* New scourge.

 

First, I do NOT answer my phone from any number not in my Contacts, nor any blocked number. If it happens to be someone I know, or do business with or who is calling for _me_ specifically .. then they may leave a message (if they like).

 

If an unknown number dials my phone twice, in a short period of time, without leaving a message either time - they get added to my "Spam" list and blocked.

 

Anyway, so --- starting about a week and a half ago I started receiving calls from unknown numbers .. *BUT* .. that ALL start with both my Area Code + first 3 digits of _my_ phone number.

 

eg. if my # is 555-123-4567 then the calls are coming in from 555-123-xxxx

 

I've gotten about a dozen of these, so far, including THREE yesterday.

 

I suspect the ploy is to make you think the person has dialed a few wrong digits and is playing upon our instinct to help out ("social engineering") so that you'll pick up the call and tell them, 'no you dialed the wrong number, you dialed 555-123-4567'

 

Ooops. You've just confirmed to them (a.) 555-123-4567 is a working number plus (b.) there's a live person at that number.

 

So then your number goes on to a "valid" calling list and gets re-used and / or sold to other spammer / scammer / telemarketers.

 

(Yeah, telemarketing is a job and everyone who is willing to work should have a job, but ..... there's zero pct compliance with Do Not Call lists......)

This "software" costs a couple hundred dollars. Anyway, I finally told them I would give them my social security number, credit card number, address, login password, etc., and to charge me anything they needed, because all I wanted was to get my computer "fixed." They hung up on me. It was fun while it lasted, though!

Yeah, for me, the "do not call" list doesn't work for anything. I don't know how they actually get people to fall for that kind of stuff...

I'm on the do not call list and I get 2-3 calls a day which I don't answer. Like others I only respond to calls from my contact list. By the way politicians (no surprise) and non profits are exempted from the do not call list. Telemarketing is the only reason why we got rid of our land line - now we have only cell.

One of our top rated public courses in the area always has two shotgun starts on both Sat and Sun.  You either play at 8am or 1pm.  I don't play at my club on Fridays because it's the busiest day for golf and play is really slow. My wife and I usually go out after 5pm when she gets off work.  I called the clubhouse to see if we needed a tee time (it's usually open at that time).  My course had the 8am and 1pm shotgun public play today!!  I'm sure the course won't be open until after 6pm tonight.  Argh!  I hope this isn't going to be an every Friday thing.
