Where to purchase cigars in bigger quantities?

Hello fellow spies...

 

I'm asking a question for a friend who is in the wine business.

He would like to slowly introduce cigars to his customers, but no luck finding the appropriate channels.

Business model is still relatively small, so manufacturers probably won't sell directly.

But going the retail road is too expensive and leaves no margin.

 

So the question is, do you know any resellers or distributors willing to sell in this range? Not enough for sole distribution, but more than a normal private user.

 

Any company anywhere in the world will do.

Cigar international has pretty good deals and they have sales on boxes of cigars, which is 20 cigars. They may have something he desires.

If he's patient, cigarbid ist he devil's playground. I've scored some really good deals on there, but it's a slippery slope.

 

But manufacturers have reps that will likely be glad to do a cigar night (if they are the only brand) for exposure and sales. My father cigars does things like this at events by me.

I would contact Cigars International and ask them for a quantity discount, with a revolving order I don't see why they wouldn't want that business. The taxes will be the tricky issue because if he/she is already buying marked-up product and having to sell it a profit the taxes on top of that can make the price point unfavorable for his/her customers.

I think this is the way to go. I just called Thompson today to place an order and it specially said that the cigars were not for sale. I suspect that the same thing holds true for CI.
