31, Certified Water Distribution Operator (when you turn the faucet on, I make sure water comes out). Y'all wouldn't believe some of the calls we get. One of my favorites, “My water taste bad”, only to find out the have a filter they haven't changed in 15 years. Oh yeah, water is very under appreciated until you have a 24” main line break and several thousand people out of water. Then everyone is calling non stop. But, I get a company truck and I'm outside everyday. All in all I really like my job.

Part of the job includes tank (water tower) inspections. Here's a couple of pics I took last week. Doesn't look that high, but it's 160'.

34. I am a Communication Trainer/Coach for a Title Insurance company. That recording you hear when you call a company telling you, “This call may be recorded for quality and training purposes,” I am one of the people that does the training.

I had to call customer service yesterday to make changes to our TV package. The woman was perfectly polite and handled my request nicely, but near the end she told me she needed to put me on hold for just a couple more minutes to finalize things. I'm guessing she really wanted to extend the call so she didn't have to take another one just yet, because she forgot to put me on hold or mute her mic and I could hear her conversation with a coworker about potty training her kid. I thought it was kind of funny and she was embarrassed when I told her she forgot to mute herself. That would be great if someone like you pulled that call for training.

That is a fantastic example of what I hear and then get to train/coach depending on the severity of the situation.

I think my worst call so far is one where the caller informed the us that he was late getting documents taken care of because his wife had a heart-attack, and the response from our end was to ask if anyone was aware that the wife had a heart attack.

I was fortunate enough to follow up with our employee and have an intense conversation regarding the need to deploy empathy as well as activate some brain cells.

This thread is so long that I've forgotten whether or not I've responded to it.

I arise when I'm awake.

I eat when I'm hungry.

I retire when I'm tired.

And I don't get to play golf anymore so I have a lot of premium cable and and streaming channels.

I should go back to reading more.

. I am now preparing for retirement and have only 45 days remaining.

Thanks for your service, SG.

Honestly.

They had to drag me in kicking and screaming, and I'm still pissed about it fifty years later!

(Although I do find use for that nice, monthly agent orange check.)

Now, congrats on retirement.

I love retirement.

I would have retired at thirty if I'd been a trust fund baby!

Enjoy it.

Thank you for your service.   During my time as a 2nd Lt., I was smart enough to know that you would have been my best friend.  I had a Master Sergeant tell me, give him five or ten minutes with a junior officer and he will know if they were a "ringknocker", a VMI type, or a OCS product such as myself.  However, I knew I was never going to be a lifer.

I have spent most of my life in the hospital industry.  Upon retirement, perhaps you might consider the civilian side.   Years ago, Onslow Memorial Hospital was a client.  It seems that every department head was a retired Marine.
