Good Morning Spies!

Had a relatively good 1st night at league yesterday. Driver felt incredible and didn't miss a fairway. Short game is a little rusty but to be expected this early in the season. Love to see Takomo and MGS relationship continue and have the opportunity for the community to test their new long game clubs, shout out to the staff and Takomo for setting that up!

I'm hoping to join the community call and catch up with everyone.

Good warm, muggy Maryland morning MGS Nation! Nice hot cup of Pomegranate Mojito (sans alcohol) tea hitting the spot while reading through the morning thread! Delay in starting the Byron Nelson, so I'm watching the ESPN+ pre event scroll going over and over and over.... looks like a big storm just rolled through. 

League play last night, happy with driver and green approach and putting: iron play was just not there. Shot a 48, so not hateful, but still a lot of work to be done. Iron dispersion was not consistent. Was able to get in some more Spider baseline data after the round and I can safely say that all this putting work is translating into much better putting. I am very curious to compare the DF3 now that I have a good amount of baseline built up with the Spider. Going to try and get some more baseline with the Spider before the rains come: our weekend looks like a complete washout if the weatherman is correct. I'm hoping that he isn't, have 18 scheduled for Sunday.  Well, the tea is almost gone, they're about the start the Byron Nelson... and work beckons.

@JoeCool, I currently have the Evnroll Tourstroke putter with the slant neck, and then modified with the BGT tour stability shaft and Evnroll gravity grip.  Its actually their training putter  It is very unusual looking as the shaft is well ahead of the putter face.  It does allow you to keep your hands forward.  The closest model to it in the Evnroll lineup would be the ER1.TS.  I'm not sure, if its even available anymore.  Despite the looks, it just flat out works very well.  For more information

If their long game clubs are anything like their MB 301 irons, the testers are in for a treat, I am still really enjoying the irons...

Good morning spies! Visit to the dentist and the purgatory doc today. Hopefully, he places 2 two week limit on my antil golf period. Did run the Wild Bunch game yesterday so had a chance to banter with the guys, and that is always fun. 

Put in some good miles yesterday with the bike. The trip meter said 36.6 when I pulled back into the driveway. Then the garage door opened and the first thing I see is my golf cart with my clubs hanging unused on the back and I immediately began to hear an old Jerry Jeff Walker song....

Well I paid for my drink and walked over to where
He was singing his lonesome song
I said we're a lot a like guitar man you and I
But your sentence is way too long
"Some day I'll get out" he began to shout.....

Sure I have changed to fit clubs and people do this all the time.  This is what the majority of the golfing world does.  They go buy clubs off the rack and figure them out.  
 

After learning more about golf clubs and putters I have learned that you are better served to find equipment that matches your tendencies.   This is why we get fit for clubs and why fitters have you take limited swings….so you don’t change to make equipment work.   Lessons are where you change things about your swing.    People ask questions like how long does it take to get used to fitted clubs; my thought is that if the club fits your swing it shouldn’t take any time to get used to them…. No swing changes required.   I am not saying that you don’t have to learn distances or feels; you don’t have to change your swing to get good performance.  
 

that said things about a club will influence subconscious.change.  The looks or feel will influence how you swing.  Let’s look at alignment aids on putters.  There are different once and even though I go through the same alignment process some simply work better; I don’t have to try to make them aim better.   Let’s look at lab putters, the no torque is probably designed for people that are more path aware.   I like torque because I focus on the face of the putter and where it points,I want to feel rotation or when rotation is off.   I can putt well with a LAB putter; the DF3 was the putter I putted best with during this years most wanted mallet testing but when my stroke is a little off, it is hard for me to assess where my swing is off.   

When I am doing most wanted testing sessions, this is easily observed.  Watching the results you see specific performance tendencies from each club that repeats as you rotate through them during the test session.

Well, it's Friday for me as I'm off tomorrow and Monday.

It's a beautiful sunny, 64* morning here. Which will be followed by 14 straight days of rain (or at least 40% and up chance of rain for the next 2 weeks). Ugh, it can stop now. I need to play golf to get ready for the big trip at the end of the month! Plus it would be nice to get out of the house for my long 4-day b-day weekend. The Lord's testing me and my complete lack of patience.

Well, at least I won't be working and will be enjoying a fitting with PXG tomorrow and a good demo day on Saturday that will be held in covered hitting bays outside should it actually rain.

Everyone have a fantastic Frid ... um I mean Thursday!

Morning All,

 

Work has been great so far this week, and by great I mean our building is hovering at 88 degrees. Why our buildings AC does not work no one knows. Not even he AC Tech guys they brought in to work on it. It's weird having to go outside to cool off. Anyway, we have reservists coming in today to start their quarterly training. It's going to be a long weekend. Gun shoot tomorrow, so I get to have some fun honing my skills. I'll try to get out to play this afternoon depending on when I get out of work. Hope everyone has a great day.

43º with a little sun coming up; not much wind which is very unusual.  It's been quite windy over the last week.  Might get to 70º... might not.  Since I haven't picked up a club in several days, I think I'll visit the course for some much needed practice.

I haven't been on this thread for a couple of days; well, the Forum in general... worked on getting my Introduction completed for the Autoflex driver shaft review; the shaft arrives today via UPS.  As I mention in the Intro, my wife will help provide a review, since she falls on the lower end of the Autoflex SF 305X shaft swing speed recommendation 70-85mph.  You can visit my Intro at the following link...  Let the testing begin!

So, getting set in my ways through the winter, like getting home from golf, having dinner watching a show then hitting the sack early, is not good practice for late tournament golf rounds, dinner at the club, come home have a glass of wine then go to bed, which is what I did this weekend...

Good morning MGS

Well day 2 of fire drills to start the work day. Had a delivery of 7, 10,000 foot spools of fiber yesterday that I had to move this morning. Thank fully the manager at the yard offloaded the guy because it was a no call show up and I and my team were not going to be able to get it. After moving them out of the garage they put them in I headed to my current location for training. Sure enough another no call show up semi arrives with more fiber . Again the guy there handled it for me, but these no advance notice deliveries are killing me! Ok enough ranting. Off tomorrow with real boss hoping to get 9 in and have her ride with me, we shall see. Hope you all have great days and Happy Birthday to @Michael.Sandoval33, go treat yourself to another round with that Qi10 Max!

I want to thank you all for the birthday wishes. Feels good to finally be 21

Told my fiancé that the best present she could get me would be 4 hours on the course, so that is the only plan for the day. Sad to see year 33 go, it has always been my favorite number, but the big 34 has me feeling like Walter Payton, The Man of the Year!

Good morning! I wasn't able to get the Exputt set up yesterday because the kids had a lot of stuff going on all evening. Tonight isn't looking great either because I'm helping my F-I-L open up his cabin for the summer. I will get it up and going soon enough!

I have a range session planned with a couple of coworkers during lunch and I'm going to work on my shots from 110 and in. I'm not going to focus on the result as much as the feeling for a specific shot.

@Cfhandyman - Can't believe that you're already getting the DF3 to unbox! So awesome and I cannot WAIT to see the blue color! Also, the wife's artwork is great and that would sell around my area (Michigan inland lake area) like crazy! Since there's no cooler on the boat, I think the shark wins that battle hands down!

@MattWillGolf - Your DF3 Nemo arrival moved up to "May the 4th be with you," and mine was just move from May 4th to the 6th.  I'm hoping the unboxing of @Cfhandyman's LAB rat will boost my mood a bit.

Yesterday I put a new grip from JumboMax on the driver and my first impressions are "Hell yeah!" so I will be putting a new post on the forum for that later on.

Typical work day so nothing exciting to report but I am thinking of jumping on to the community call later since my afternoon meetings end at 2pm!

@ParFore74x seems we had the same thought.  I was responsible and got my mowing done too.  It did rain yesterday morning but then turned into a beautiful day only for more rain to come in today.  And then supposed to rain the next few days, so mowing yesterday had to be done.

Youngest daughter has a softball game scheduled for this evening, but it looks like it will be rained out.  Oldest daughter and my wife have tickets to see Need to Breathe tonight so they are both super excited.  My oldest loves her some Bear Rhinehart.

Good call on the mowing. It’s been raining nonstop since about 4am here, starting to get standing water on sections of the grass at work. Ground is so saturated that the water isn’t able to drain.

This is a very unusual putter. I’m not sure I could get used to that even though I’ve always game a blade. Did it take you long to get used to it? Like I said before I’m very looking forward how you’ll manage the DF3. The address of the DF3 is somewhat similar though. My fear is going from a blade to a mallet (?)

Good morning Spies! After two delayed flights, finally got to my hotel in the St. Louis 'burbs about 11 pm. Alarm clock was way too early this morning. I noticed I drove past a Golf Galaxy on the way to work, so a stop there this afternoon is a possibility. Otherwise hope I have enough energy for a Fit For Golf workout this evening before flying home tomorrow (I finish too late this afternoon for a PM flight back to the Casa).

On the back and forth regarding putters: No putter is going to teach me how to read a green or keep my putter arc on the desired line; that's up to me. Incremental improvements in roll or what happens on off-center hits may be useful, as well as alignment aids, but so far not enough to get me to put another 300-400 dollar dent in my credit card.

The weather is not much better.  Will try to stay warm in preparation for the Forum weekly call.   Hit the Sim yesterday.  A few wayward drives but played decently.  Looking forward to getting out when the course opens.

I have used both mallets and blades in the past.  It was very easy to get used to and very similar to the ER1.TS or ER2.  I admit, the first time I looked at it with the long slant neck, I thought this looks weird.  However, it worked well.  Initial test, rolled putt after putt.  ER2 would have been a close second.  On subsequent tests, same thing.  I preferred the alignment features of the Tourstroke over the ER1.TS so bought it.  I think I'm going to like the DF3.  I had a chance to demo a DF3 prior to order and it performed very well.  It and my other reference putters will be tested on Quintic, so I will get a much better sense on face angle control, launch, path, speed, spin, etc.
