I felt like I was in neutral today. I did birdie the hardest hole on the course (no. 7) and followed that up with a par/birdie on the next hole, the par 3 8th. On the back 9 I went par/birdie on 14, and birdied/aced the par 3 15th. I finished up the round with a one-putt par/birdie on the 18th. The rest of the round was pretty pedestrian. Bogey train with 3 doubles (ouch). I avoided the big trouble today, which was good.

I think amateur golfers as a whole would greatly benefit in adding regular play at an executive course.  The focus on the short game is priceless.... 

 .... another of the comments I make that I don't practice.... but now I'm looking up the nearest exec course to practice what I preach.    Tee-ing off from the Reds on occasion can also help in this regard... that I HAVE done.

hmm, very interesting thread, I agree with the benefits of playing an executive course. probably the benefits of getting out and playing in general, with executive courses, unfortunately in my area, most of them aren't looked after as well as, say, the local public 18 hole course or whatever, but still fun to play.

One thing I’ve taken away from the Chasing Scratch podcast is the idea of playing courses shorter than normal and developing an attacking mindset. Exec courses would be great for this and strengthening your short game.

This is a combo of 2 nine hole rounds.  74.  Played the front Sunday and the back today.  2 natural birdies and 2 doubles on the front on Sunday for 37.  Today was the back 9. Bogeyed par 4 # 10 and par 3 #16 birdied par 5 #11 and parred the other 6 for 37 on the back.  13 putts on the back today.  Hopefully I can play well tomorrow.

This totally makes sense. We live on the 13th green and tWife and I have talked about going out early evening when the course is clear, start on the 14th and walk our back 9, ending at the 13th/home.  While we could hit drives, what makes the most sense is to play from our typical approach shot distance for each hole.  Maybe play 2 or 3 shots from there.  We have yet to do this but likely when we get a break from the heat.

Today was the tale of two sides.  The first was windy, rainy and the score showed it with a 46 (+11 including three doubles in the first seven holes).  The second nine, the sun came out, the wind died down a bit and the scoring was better.  I shot a 39 (+4) with five pars (including pars on the last three holes).  

The greens in regulation were my normal average at 11%.  The four up and downs were also pretty typical.  I only missed one of our narrow fairways, and that was on the first hole.  My wedge approach shots were typically on today.  For some reason, my bunker play was better as well.  Maybe it was the rain packing the sand down that made it better for me?  Who knows.  

Another average golf score day.  Put with a good back nine, it gave me hope for starting out Saturday's round with better scores!

My goodness what a day of ball striking! Today golf was easy (if that is ever possible). Hit drives of 346, 329 and 319. So, the Callaway Paradym TD was working. Hit some tremendous iron shots. Example a 148 yard 9 iron to six inches! Yes that’s right hit the pin and spun out!! So, the Callaway Paradym irons were on fire. Lastly, I am still in love with the PXG Battle Ready Bat attack II putter! I feel like every putt might go in!

Wow what a hot day in Northeast US. 

As for golf, couldn't get up and down today.

Greens were really slow compared to the other courses I've been playing so everything came up really short at first.

Tried to adjust my chipping by hitting a little firmer, but bye-bye past the hole.

Just couldn't get anything to fall in the hole. 4 lip outs ouch. 

Well that's golf. But I enjoyed being out today regardless of the high temperature
