Also cannot recommend enough posting an "unofficial" review after your WITB. Gives you an idea of what is expected for an official review and breaks you into the process a little bit.

I have been working on my slice for 2 years now and have finally started hitting straight. But now do I know how to slice and draw the ball off the tee? You betcha! I have been through a lot of driver testing the last 3 years and know what I want from a driver. I will be dropping my handicap this year for sure since I am hitting fairways more. I also have access to indoor simulators. Thank you.

I believe that I should be a tester because I understand the detail oriented nature of testing. I was previously a beta-tester for another golf product. I met all deadlines and I provided detailed descriptions of each testing phase. I had some ideas that were later integrated into the final product.

My background as a professional athlete (bowling) gives me a perspective on gear that, perhaps others don't have. I can share that with the other spies. 

I take my golf seriously. I do golf over 100 rounds a year. Sometimes, I don't take myself so seriously that I don't enjoy the game, but I have a self-deprecating sense of humor which helps me to keep things light. 

I also feel that I can express myself fairly well. I typically write in a more conversational style, but can get into technical areas when needed. I don't believe I would lose the reader in technical jargon.

All in all, I believe I would make an excellent candidate to be a tester during 2024.

Great link! Really self explanatory! Testing is a blast it gets you outside playing the game we love! As a man working on my game and trying to find any way I can do it in the short golf season I have in Wisconsin! I truly like to put products through all the tests and things people normally don’t think to do! Right now it’s the dead of winter and my bag boy bag is sitting on the floor of the garage to see how it holds up sitting on cement with salt water! It’s a great opportunity to not only give people onsite on a product they may be thinking about but open the eyes to people who may not know they exist! I hope to be a tester again because I want to better my game and have something to pass on to my kids one day!

I've been active here since last July. I've gained tons of knowledge thus far, and have just begun my golfing journey. 

What and why I should be considered for future testing opportunities:

While I realize it's not dependent to be a tester, I have access to outdoor golf year round. We just recently had in indoor sim place open in town, and a top tracer range 15 minutes from me.

I am a grounded person, but extraverted too. I like to enjoy my time playing golf, and not let it stress me out. 

I am creative, bare ingenuity, and am thorough in everything I set out to do. The tech and spec side of things I can also handle if required. 

Thanks for reading! As for pictures,  I think I've posted a few around the forums, from WITB to What have you bought lately, etc.

I've been fortunate enough to have been selected for 2 testing opportunities last year. Titleist white box ball test, and also the AI-ONE putter test.  Both proved to be exciting, and challenged my creative side as well.  I was also able to learn so much more about my game, style, and through interaction with the other testers gained seriously insightful knowledge.

I would cherish the opportunity to become chosen again, and know that I would not disappoint the followers.

I learned early on that if you are here for "free s#!t" , you've come to the wrong place.

As a tester, I've asked for feedback on several occasions from the mods about what I've done well and what needs improvement.  If you haven't tested, ask a Mod.  Reach out and ask what you can do personally to stand out from the crowd and make yourself a qualified candidate to test!  So first of all, be a contributor!  Share to the degree you're comfortable and get engaged.  The more you write, the more people get to see your skills as a golfer, writer and storyteller.

As for me and what makes me a great candidate for testing besides being awesome  Ok that was a joke...but in reality, what's worked for me is that I chose to dig in and really feature what I was testing.  Make it relatable to the type of player you are and write towards those golfers who play a similar game.

When you're ready to apply, stick to what you'd like (don't apply for EVERYTHING) and if you're hoping to focus on something like your short game, look for putters or wedges.  Work towards your strengths!  This place is awesome and it's getting better every season...I'm close to 7 years here and it's incredible to see the effort and work product of the current moderator staff, they've got it down and have EARNED these testing opportunities from the results of many of you guys' reviews.

As someone who is still new around here, I have been tossing my hat into the testing opportunities just to show that I am interested and watching closely. I did not in any way expect to jump on MGS and start testing, that does not sound in any way realistic. I have been active here in different areas of the forum as I try to learn and grow my game. I think a lot of the opportunities, especially game improvement opportunities, would be beneficial as my game is definitely in that category. I am intrigued by the clubs and products of course, but the physical fitness and training aid part of the game as well. With all that being said, being a tester does not sway me from being active on MGS and never will. I intend to post an unofficial review in the upcoming weeks as well. Currently I am fully available as my only other commitment is school at the moment, and I have the fortune of living in a State where the weather is more than likely golf weather. I would be a good tester because I love to try different equipment. I play a ton of golf and have access to simulators. I talk to everyone and play with different people. I am kind of like a walking billboard sometimes. I like to go outside of the main manufacturers and try the "little guy" companies. I have already posted about my New Level clubs and started a subject in the forum about what tees should you play. I still keep up with that subject and try to answer questions or just comment on other member's posts. I have posted pictures of my new clubs as well, but right now in Cheyenne it is winter so not many pictures yet. I am fairly new to MGS but am engaged, and really appreciate all the other member's testing reviews. That in itself makes me want to provide good reviews. Thanks, and happy birdie hunting!!!

As a tester, I would work to continue to improve the product I would provide to other members. I have worked extremely hard on my game the past two years. Part of that journey was joining this site. I really have learned a lot and enjoy sharing ideas, feedback and the occasional exchanges where views are different. All this adds up to helping each of us achieve our goals and enjoying the game better. Additionally, it has been fun showing and allowing those I play with to see it test themselves some of the items I have tested. This has also led to many of my fellow golfers here purchasing the items themselves.

How I would attack future opportunities would be dependent on what is being tested. However, I would like to work on my content including even better pictures and media. Additionally, I would probably include more of my launch monitor data. While I am a total feel player, I do understand that many want to see hard data. I have enjoyed and am grateful for the opportunities offered and hope that I have been able to provide beneficial feedback to my fellow members.

Great topic and one I think we see a lot of people asking about.  

MGS is more than just testing, it is a community of golfers that love the game, and everyone treats each other with respect.  With that being said, being involved in the threads and sharing your knowledge or asking questions to learn is paramount.  

I am currently testing the Mevo+ and it's a large undertaking that I don't take lightly.  Interacting with the other members and responding to questions quickly keeps the thread engaged.  If you look at some of the biggest test threads, the testers are constantly posting and keeping everyone interested with plenty to read through.

As @Jnoble89 mentioned, doing an "Unofficial" review can really make you gain some understanding of what goes into these tests and the true time commitment it requires.

One of the unique things I try to do with tests, is to try every scenario possible to get different outcomes or results with the product.  I know as a consumer looking to buy something, I want to know as many variables as possible.  Good, bad or neutral.  

It's been great to be a tester, but if I'm being completely honest, if I was never picked for something again, it wouldn't change my outlook on this group or stop me from being involved in this community.  I have learned a ton from some of the members in here and have gotten to enjoy some great conversations on topics that have brought both perspective and understanding to the game of golf.

I think I learn something from each test I do (either officially or unofficially). I personally enjoy sharing my thoughts and experiences with different equipment on here and is one of the main things that brought me to this site. Working on being able to test something in a new or different way is always compelling to me in addition to trying to remove biases as much as possible. That is why I continue to rely heavily on things like trackman but also try to come to testing in a fairly holistic way so it does become 100% data driven. One of the hardest things to quantify in a golf  club or ball test, for example, is feel. I have struggled with coming up with any real metrics other than just my words describing my experience. I have had trouble coming up with good, comparable metrics to get to something so subjective as feel. 

I read the reviews on this site, watch review/test videos on youtube and try to learn from others people's way of testing as things that I can incorporate going forward. One area I have not dipped my toe into yet is editing down a testing "video". That is probably a hole in my process at this point. 

Right now I am doing an unofficial test on the Rapsodo MLM2Pro that I just purchased and also will do one on the Maltby TS1-IM and TS3 demos that I have. This is more about giving those people considering these products another reference point rather than trying to prove my prowess as a tester. 

Finally, I am really motivated by testing unconventional products or setups (shout to the "otto-phlex" thread). I think there are a lot of long held beliefs in golf that are not necessarily true for everyone and testing is the only way to get there. Just because you swing 105+ mph doesn't mean you have to get an X flex shaft. Just because you are a double digit handicap doesn't mean you won't get along with a more players style club. Just because you are a low handicap doesn't mean you need a high compression ball, etc.

Having been fortunate enough to test a few items over the years, you should know that this is a privilege and testing is not to be taken lightly. All of us have our approach to the game and the same with testing. There are data junkies, feel guys, and a combination of both. Although I do have access to data at home through a Mevo and a Simulator I try to keep the data to a minimum in my reviews. The data I collect only pertains to me and my swing, so it is not a great help to others. I will inform you about the performance, construction, durability, features and everything I can think of to do a proper review depending on the product being tested. 

Although testing can be work it is fun at the same time. We are all golf junkies and look forward to what other have to say about a product. As others have mentioned doing an un-official review on a product you have is a great way for people to see your writing style and how you approach your review. 

My first reviews did not have video as I am technically challenged a bit. But with help from another forum member, he walked me through the You Tube set up and posting links. Am I a professional, heck no but I'm getting better with every opportunity. The important thing is to have fun with your test. It is also important to know that you are asked to do an honest review. If the product does not work for you that is fine. Just be specific on why it is not for you. If you think adding a feature to the product is required, then let us know. If it's not for you, you can offer to put this back out for testing again. I have been given something from another tester in the past and I have also given a product to another spy for testing and to keep if it works for them. Share the love so to speak!

There's sort of a beauty contest element to this tread request.  Let's look at Mis America's competition criteria and see how it applies:

Personal interview with judges (35% of score):  Here they review the candidate resume and social initiative statement.  I've been a member of MGS for about three years (February 26th anniversary).  I have 945 posts, no warning points and I'm on the site multiple times every day.  I'm active in the VCT tour (winning the war of attrition its first year).  I've helped out with scoring in the various virtual tournaments we've had over the last year or two.  I've been an official reviewer in the past two years.  I'm a retired plastics engineer, so I have an analytical mind and too much time on my hands.  I live in Key West, so I golf year round.   Finally, I have a sense of humor (some people say it's warped), so I'll try to bring a little joking into my write ups. 

On stage interview/social initiative pitch (15%):  Here, I'd come out in Khaki shorts, my favorite Peter Millar St. Andrews Old Course print shirt and my Adidas BOA golf shoes...color coordinated of course!  My social initiative is what's all this I hear about rolling back golf balls?  Rolling back?  Isn't in golf you're supposed to roll the ball forward, not backward?  Why would anyone want to play the game backward?  This make me so mad....what, there trying to roll back the distance of the golf ball?  That's different...never mind (channeling my inner Roseanne Rosannadanna for those young people who may not have caught the reference)!

Talent (35%):  At age 67, I've turned into the golfer I used to hate!  I'm short off the tee (175 yards or so), short on par fours, chip on and one putt.  So I bring down the average driving distance of the MSG members, but make up for it with my short game.  I know this because they guys I play with always say "F#*king Norm" when I get up and down for par.  With a full linty of aliments, surgeries and other medical conditions, it's amazing that I play over 140 rounds of golf a year.   

Red Carpet Evening Wear (15%):  Thank God they dropped the swimsuit competition!  I have to be honest, this is not my best category.  Living in Key West for the last 14 years, I only own a few pair of pants, a sports coat and one suit.  So, don't expect anything fancy!

There you have it!  Hopefully I can continue as an official MGS reviewer!

I  tested Titleist prototype balls recently, had done it previously as a Team Titleist guy , I experiment with the same type ball and measured the results , coupled with feel and trajectory . I play almost daily and practice days I don’t play so I have the time  and diligence to effectively test and review any products . At my age I’m very athletic and can give a very good review that could let seniors have a good idea of what to expect with the products , retired grocery management leader can pay attention to details

I have golfed for over 40 years on courses in Canada, the United States, England, Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands and Japan. I have been a marshal on the PGA tournaments in Laquinta, California for 4 years. Also, I have marshaled LPGA tournaments at Mission Hills, California for 3 years.

I have been a member of several courses in Canada located in Ontario, Quebec, and British Columbia. I am currently a member at the Blythe Golf Course in Blythe, California during the winter months and at the Glacier Greens Golf Course in Lazo, British Columbia. I was a member of the Andrews Air Force Base Golf Club in Maryland, United States for 4 years.

I assembled golf clubs for 15 years using components from Golfsmith. The experience, which I have gained over the last 40 years, includes many aspects of the golf industry from building clubs to acting as a PGA and LPGA marshal.

During my military career covering 30 years, I had the honour of writing briefs for a US President, 2 US Ambassadors, and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Colin Powell. For my contribution to the United States Military Staff and American politicians, I received the US Medal for Meritorious Service although I was a member of the Canadian Armed Forces.

I believe that I am qualified to be a TESTER for MGS because of my golf experience in many countries and my ability to convey my deductions about golf equipment in a clear and concise manner.

@bens197 I am glad you brought up the point of making the review relatable to those like you. I always gravitate towards similar players in a review I am interested in. Similar style, handicap etc. It is so important even though it may seem insignificant the introductions are very important for people to understand what type of golfer you are!

Well, where do I start? I found MGS while doing a Google search on “how to become a golf equipment tester?” And it was the top hit and I decided to click on the link and instantly blew my mind. I became a member sometime in 2023, but it was not until December 2023 that I started to comment and follow post. Then I realized that this is more than a equipment testing forum, people here make you feel like family. Within the testing forum you can read what other members/testers have to say about the equipment, which helps others to answer any questions or concerns that they might have regarding an equipment they are about to purchase. In addition, there are multiple forums that will help you with your game or even better, there might be another Spy close to you and you did not even know it. The camaraderie in this community is at another level. When you become involved, people here makes you feel like family, amd for me, that means A LOT!! So, do as I do, spread the word, share post on FB/IG/Twitter/TikTok, or wherever you can to help MGS grow. I do it everyday I talk to someone about golf, so I am an unoficial MGS Recruiter  If you want to become a tester, you have to write, ask, and comment in the forum, don’t be a ghost because if you just sign up, you will just be a number. Don’t be afraid, believe me I was and still am, but no one here will do you wrong. 

Early January I was priviledged to be selected to test the MEVO FlightScope, and I am telling you!! What a great experience has been (have not finished yet). Since I started my testing I have had the chance to talk to a lot of members, exchange ideas, compare reviews, and of course test an equipment that might help me to improve my game, but most importantly to how I am going use it to help my son with his game, hopefully he turns Pro one day

So why should I be a tester again? Well first I am cool, yeah Puertorricans are cool and funny . The reason I decided to join and aim to become a tester, first, was to test equipment that would help me improve my game, but also to learn and understand equipment so I can help others. I am a combat Veteran with 25 years in service, and golf became my therapy as well for other fellow Veterans. So, any equipment I get to test, I will take it and use it with any Veteran or Servicemember, so they can have the same opoortunity as me.
