I Dont Know Any Other Way Pt 2

Part two of the article is now on the blog.  Here are the comments I recently posted on the blog

Love the straight shooting approach that MSG has. Really enjoyed the first part of the article, but left somewhat scratching my head about this most recent read- I was expecting the second part of John and Dan's interview with Adam, but find the introduction of Tony (ok, the second founding father, I get it) and the introduction of the “Next Big Thing” which comes off more as a teaser advertisement than the normal, unbiased reports, written by numerous spies from scratch to 20+ handicapers, and how it worked or didn't for them. So, I look forward to how we spies are going to get the opportunity to test this just like everything else across the market, and let our voice be heard, regardless if it is Adam and Tony's baby. One of the most important -critical factors about MGS is the honesty behind everything in the data. If the baby is ugly, and it is mine, I will be the first to say so- Please keep that approach going!

FWIW, I trust the process, and therefore will wait to see how this plays out, but as I mentioned, I am surprised that the "Next Big Thing" has not been tested and independently assessed before throwing it out there- Or perhaps I am jumping the gun, and this is just a roll out announcement which will be followed up by the normal call for spies to compete to test it out.

I welcome others assessment- perhaps I am being a bit myopic...

It's been "tested and independently assessed" for close to ten years, by the guys that I think do the testing the best of anyone to ever do it.

If that ain't enough, don't know what is.

We know better than most that you can't please them all.  You might be one of those and that's ok with us. But that will not get in our way of doing what we think needs to be done for all golfers.

OK, perhaps I am missing something-   Where has TRUEgolfFit been tested?  Who were the testers?  Ten years - I get MGS has been around 10 years, and I have been using the valuable information that I have found for nearly a year, and have met and made several new friends and golfing partners thru the process.

But TRUEGolf Fit?  I like the idea- and very effective way of helping the "little guy" (like me, I buy almost all of my equipment 2nd or 3rd hand) get a true picture of what they should be playing based on what their swing is right now- but where is it?  As I read the article, it sounded like it is coming out in December.  OK, great- but why make a play on what it is supposed to do until it has been tested- that is all I am asking.

Not sure why I sense a bit of attitude in your final paragraph..."We know better than most that you can't please them all. You might be one of those and that's ok with us. But that will not get in our way of doing what we think needs to be done for all golfers."
Frankly, up until now, I considered myself one of the team- an independent, contributing member of a straight shooting blog that was not beholden to the commercial entities and those motivated more by profit than individual pleasure of and with the game of golf.

FWIW, regarding TRUEGolf Fit, I will continue to be the same person, contributor and skeptic of "newfangled gadgets" until tested and assessed by those similar to me, the contributors to this blog, and be the first to proclaim its success or failure based upon those evaluations.

Yes. I'm skeptical but I think Adam is probably on to something that's been overlooked. Didn't he break the model for golf sites when he started MGS? I'm sure most people said back then that it couldn't be done. But it be done!

Keep us posted Adam.

I'm also intrigued. I've - happily! - spent a lot of time and effort and $$ on my own trial and error and experimentation with different clubs to build out my bag. I've also - happily! - spent time and effort and $$$$ on two fittings over the past year. By the time I went for the second fitting .. for irons .. I had a very good idea of what I liked, what I didn't like, and what seemed to work for me and what I wanted.

As it turned out, I did end up with a set of irons and shafts previously "self-selected" .. but the value was (1) being able to test a number of different shafts and heads and shaft/head combos; (2) being able to do that under the guidance, and with feedback from, a knowledgeable and trained fitting pro; and (3) FWIW, "validation" of my own ideas.

Some people seem to do very well with playing what their pro or their fitter tells them to play, but for me .. and possibly others who also like to do their own research (THANKS!!! MGS AND THANKS!!! MGS FORUM MEMBERS FOR SO MUCH GREAT INFO!!!) .. I can see #TrueGolfFit as being....

(1) a reference to narrow down what I should be looking at if I want to test clubs on my own,

and

(2) a guide I could bring with me into a fitting session (eg. to see how close or how far off the two results may be from each other, and to have a basis for more questions for the fitter).

Seems a bit harsh on the response to some valid statements. Didn't strike me that ddryan was attacking the concept. Everything the site pushes is to question what's being thrown out there.
