PING Custom Iron Orders

For any of you Spies that have ordered custom irons from PING in the past 6 months ... how long did it take till you rcvd your order?

They are running anywhere from 6-12 weeks. The g425 line has better delivery dates due to it being the newest line. That’s for everything g425 related. 3 months or has been the norm for several months

We hosted a PING Demo Day today. The rep quoted 5 weeks for the G425 orders and maybe 8 weeks for a 210 order.

Can I just say that I love that the i210 are still getting as much love as they are. Considering the irons are nearly 3 years old now and even the new i59 don't quite seem like a direct replacement it just goes to show how solid of a set of irons they are. The fact they will take that long to get is too bad, but still very impressive especially in todays market where there are often refresh or updates every season or second cycle.

This is normal for Ping. My Eye2 irons took 12 weeks for delivery in 1987.

Actually it’s not normal for Ping or any of the other brands. Prior to the lockdowns the major brands had a 7-10 day shipping window. It’s normal 2-3 days for a build and 7-10 for shipping. That’s been the norm for the last 15 years give or take

I ordered i210’s and Glide 3.0 wedges April 5th. Our local Ping rep told my head pro when the order was placed, it would be 8 weeks at least. 
 

Another member of my club had the head pro order a Scotty Cameron Phantom X 5.5 on the same day I ordered my Ping’s. He was told 12 weeks. 
 

It’s not just Ping. Supply chains are a shambles since the pandemic.

It took about 3 weeks for each of my hybrids and 9 weeks for my 5-pw set. I ordered custom G425s btw. Literally just got my irons today.

I ordered a custom set set of G425's on March 17th and just got them this week on April 28. I ordered them thru one of the big name retail stores, so that may have sped up the delivery, I don't know if it did or not. I have not hit them yet as its been pouring down in Houston. Hope that helps.

ordered new 425 irons early March...delayed till May 1....now suppose to ship in the next day or two

I orderd mine in the pro shop at my course, got them after about 3 weeks. This was in dec. Live in Norway, got them from England.

Remember, most, if not all the components, are made in China: head, shaft, grip. Manufacturing may be gearing up, but the backlog of products being received into California ports is huge! Automobile manufacturers are in the same boat re chips, parts, and accessories.

Waited 6 weeks for G425 irons with recoils. I'm  now told 3 more weeks. I cancelled the order. I'm getting the same shafts in irons from another manufacturer in 10 to 14 days. I find Ping's delay exceptionally bad and will never order Ping irons again

I heard a rumor from two separate sources that, in addition to some grips, a lot of Ping irons are now in Davy Jones' locker, as part of this fiasco:

My fitter said that Titleist quoted him 4-6 weeks for my T300s.

Ordered my G415 irons on March 18th.They were supposed to be delivered by the end of April. Now they are saying they are out of stock of wedge shafts. Now estimated delivery is end of May. Communication from Ping is horrible.

That’s great! My order was April 13th on the G425s as well ... our Sunday group is doing NC at Southern Pines resort the wknd of May 15th. I know it’s highly unlikely, but I’ll be over the moon if I get them just before then.

I ordered some wedges and irons. Took almost 6 weeks to get my irons but my wedges came in pretty quickly.

i210 and Glide 3 wedges.  2 weeks back in March.  But that was from the European Ping in England.  Maybe you can somehow order them from there...

I can't say that this is particular to PING or any other brand, but a few weeks ago, I was in my local golf shop (Golfdom, Tysons Corner, VA) and the PING rep was there and putting restocking the G425 fairway woods and drivers. I overheard him talking to one of the employees that the factory is having a hard time getting people to come back to work, post COVID. He didn't elaborate further, but in addition to ongoing shipping and material availability, it's no real shock that there are delays for many manufacturers.

I work in the civil and environmental engineering field.  Contractors bidding on our plans have had this problem for the past year plus.  It's put every project we have under construction way behind schedule.  We have one roadway project that was scheduled to be completed in October 2020.  They haven't even reach 50% completion yet!

Apparently, a cargo ship with 3 million ping items sank recently and has caused a huge disruption. A friend waited 5 weeks for his G425 driver. Luckily, his wasn’t on the ship.  It could’ve been 5 more weeks or more.

The cargo ship accident did happen. 3 million parts is a HUGE exaggeration

More importantly (well maybe not to those who are dealing with shipping delays...), have you gotten a sneak peak at the new Ping stuff yet??!! Or, if not, will you before it comes out? Can't wait to see the 525s and the i59s...

No more of a sneak peak than  everyone else has seen online of Hovland's bag.  We did have a PING Demo day this week and the Tech Rep knew what I knew and nothing more

You can say that again...I ordered my Srixon irons on 3/20/21, and I received the 6-iron fairly quickly (2-weeks)...then I received the 7-PW (with the wrong grips...GolfPride is having issues too) just last week, 4/29/21.  I called to speak to them about the grips and ask about the 4-5 irons, and they said that the 4-5 irons should be in by mid-May, so I should get them sometime within the last 2 weeks of May.  As for the GolfPride grips...I ordered the G2 Tour Wrap in red...those are on backorder until mid-June.  Thankfully I ordered my irons with grips in the box, so I just took the Tour Velvet grips they sent with the 7-PW to my local golf shop and switched them out for the G2 in white, since they were out of red as well.

Companies I've ordered from and associated quoted vs actual lead time

Srixon - Quoted 4 weeks...shipped in 4 weeks.

TaylorMade - Quoted 3-4 weeks...shipped in 4 weeks.

Ping - Quoted 6 weeks...G425 LST 3 Wood shipped in 7 weeks, wedges in 12 weeks. This was due to shafts, not heads or grips. 

Evnroll - Quoted 2 weeks...Shipped in 10 days. 

GE Refrigerator - Quoted 12 weeks...shipped in 16 weeks (not golf related but you get the point).
