Yuengling... unfortunately. I bought a case on sale for $16.00. I forgot how much I dislike this stuff. I can't understand how this brewery is so vaunted and popular. Their product isn't very good, IMO. Never again!

Haha!  Too funny... we have the same thing around here with Narragansett.  Small brewery in RI that went out of business, brought it back a few years ago and now all of a sudden it's supposed to be a 'good' beer... ::blech::

This week, Two Hearted Ale from Bell's brewery in Michigan unseated Pluney The Elder for the title of best beer in America according to the annual survey from the American Home Brewers Association. I decided to get my hands on some and try it out.

 

First impression is that it has a good nose, more floral than piney or dank. Very light body, not overly bitter. I like it, it feels like a sessionable pale ale but the abv is 7%.

Overall, I prefer Pliney (and a lot of other IPAs) to this but it's definitely a worthy champion. The King is dead, long live the king!!!

I think it's Bells who makes Two Roads IPA .. which is an excellent one, and amongst my faves.

Also, I grew up hustling people at ping pong at bells brewery while it was in K-Zoo. They used to make the best root beer and pretzels and mustard. My dad would go watch the game, and I would win a bunch of money beating the "locals", they have a ton of good brew. In fact it was my first drink... haha, my dad was having a party while I was a young dude. My buddy decided to try the beer. He filled a glass with just the "foam" we both puked for hours.

 

I believe the statute of limitations is run dry on that...

 

If you ever see HopSlam, give that a try. And their Christmas Ale is top notch.

That Angry Orchard stuff is pretty darn good.  Once in a while I have a hankering for some of it and it goes down nice and smooth.  Almost like candy in a bottle...
