Popular Post PMookie
Shot 79 and it felt SO much better than that. Doubled 17, and then choked hitting the Par 5 18th in 2. Ugh. Of course I drop a second ball on 18 just for giggles. Dead center of the green. 1.61 putting average is my lowest in a round in a LONG time!!!! Didn’t hit many greens because I was buried behind trees off the tee. Ugh. Recovered well through 12, then started blading the wedges. Anyway, it was warm and I was able to golf so I’m happy! 13 Quote Driver: Honma TR 460 8.5*, Aldila RIP Alpha 80 S, 45 1/4"; Ping G425 LST, Fujikura Speeder TR 661 S, 45 1/2" hybrids: Cobra King Tec 17* and 21*, both with Graphite Design Tour AD-DI 105 X Irons: Srixon ZX5 4-6, ZX7 7-PW, UST Mamiya Recoil F4, +1” Wedges: SMS 50D/54V/58DModus 130 stiff, +1” Putter: EAS 1.0 All but putter have Lamkin ST+2 Hybrid Calibrate midsize built to oversize +

Wednesday played Big Boy but only 9 holes and it was slooowwww going. Groups in front of us where horrible, dove carts at times back towards us then circling and not to mention playing wrong Tees. The Ranger was pushing them but he was having a problem with a couple guys who we’re claiming that he was picking on Seniors……Oh Boy can’t make this up. Anyway shot a 5+ for the 9 and did hit a couple of decent shots with the PXG 0211 driver at least as good as the Titleist TSI2 driver. Picking on Seniors indeed, shameless haha..
Popular Post Rickp
Friday Bacon Boyz 9. Didn’t play particularly well actually none of us did but that’s OKAY. It’s one of the times when you get all 4 guys that really get along, bust each other’s chops ruthlessly and to top it off played from the Tips just because we could!! it’s hard to play when you’re laughing that hard. we all need days like that. Of course the BB continued at breakfast, the diner let us put the tables together so we were able to do 8 and 8. Popular Post CarlH
Disappointing round today with an 83. Burned a lot of edges with the putter. One hole, I was even Kevin Na-ing it walking it into the hole, only to groan when it burned the edge AGAIN!!! Was cold and windy out today and ball wasn't traveling far, at all. On the bright side, the team did well enough to win our money back plus some. Game was 3 best gross ball (foursome). Tough format, but the teams were fairly evenly matched with A,B,C, D players. Played with the new Titleist 348 Prototype ball today. Hit some good shots, hit some not so good. Ball holds the greens aggressively with spin! 13 Quote Driver: Rogue ST Max (10.5* set at -1 and neutral) -- Mitsubishi Tensai Blue 55g R shaft Fairway: Rogue ST Max 3 wood (16.5*) and Heaven Wood (20*)-- Tensai Blue 55g R shaft Hybrids: Rogue ST Max 5H (23*)--Tensai Blue 55g R shaft Irons: Apex CF19 6-9, PW, AW -- KBS Tour Graphite TGI 70 shafts R +1/2 inch 3* upright Wedges: Edison 53* and 57* KBS PGI 80 Graphite +1/2 inch 2* upright Putter: Stroke Lab 7S Ball: Maxfli TourX...Golf Bag: Pioneer...Shoes: Hyperflex... Popular Post Grand Stranded
I played surprisingly well Saturday. 3 bad holes due to 2 bad swings and a lapse in concentration on a 1.5’ putt I missed were the only real miscues in what was an encouraging day otherwise. I chunked a tee shot on a par 3 into the water on #4, but then re-teed instead of dropping in front of the hazard (because I’m stubborn). I hit it to 10’ but missed the putt, took a 5. Then, after striping my new 5 hybrid all day, I tempted fate by telling my cart mate what a great move it was getting one. The very next hole I dead shanked it into water, (I didn’t think it was possible to shank a 5 hybrid, but I was able to figure out how very quickly) and had to make a 10 footer for a triple(). Then the brain cramp on 17 where I missed the 18” tap in, which ended up costing me $20. I shot a 84 net 71 and collected $50 when all was said and done. I lost a tiebreaker for 2nd and missed 1st place in net by a shot. That’s golf though… it evens out. We always look back and harp on the miscues, rather than think about the “saves” and the good shots. So, it wasn’t perfect, but after not touching a club for 2 weeks, I can’t complain. I needed the break. My mental outlook was so much better, and I enjoyed the round, rather than enduring it. That’s what was happening with me for quite a while. I wasn’t having a good time out there. This game is a challenge, but it’s also supposed to be fun.. For a while there it wasn’t. Ben_Howell34
Shot a 45/41 86 at Bent Brook. Not a great round but have definitely been worse. Weather was wet and cool and it definitely affected ball flight and distance, so I probably played a little better. Short game was great, approaches were not generally speaking. Probably hit 5-6 shots fat, almost all of them with my 52* or 56* wedge, which makes it even worse. Had 1 birdie on a gettable par 5, made about a 20 foot downhill putt. 9 Quote Radspeed Driver 10.5* Radspeed 3W 14.5* JPX 921 Hot Metal Pro 4i-PW RTX Zipcore Wedge 52* Mid Bounce RTX Zipcore Wedge 56* Mid Bounce Kirkland Signature KS1 Putter

Popular Post Rickp
Monday Exec 9 getting comfortable with PXG 0211 driver. Hit it well and down the middle on both Par 4’s. One of the Par4’s is 375 which is a long way for my ole arse but just got there in 2, driver and 7 wood with 2 putts. Mizuno irons behaved well also. Shot a +4. Tuesday all went well, again driver was good as the irons. Switched putters to a Gene Nead custom and it was working. 2 birds and an ugly double where a a new ProV1x wanted to go swimming!! Popular Post Grand Stranded
Backed up Saturday’s nice round with another one today. I didn’t really do anything exceptional, nor did I place in the money, but I shot a very solid 86 on what was a very long tough course (at least for me) at 6300 yards. I’m hoping to get two more in on Saturday and Tuesday before I head up north for Christmas. I probably won’t get to play again until after my daughter has her twins. She’s due around the 10th of February, but supposedly twins come early? I’m really excited about finally becoming a grandparent, and starting out right away with both a boy and a girl is going to be great. I can’t wait! My wife grew up in a golf family as well. He dad was scratch and club champion at multiple country clubs. Her mom played, but it was a social thing for her. Her 5 older brothers and an older sister all played, and she was on her H.S. golf team. She didn't play for many years after she moved here, but she decided to go play with her girlfriend one day at the course I played. I joined them. This was early 2000's and she was still playing 1960's Powerbilt blades and persimmon woods. She was putting with her grandfather's hickory-shafted putter. Several years later I proposed on the 1st tee of that course and we got married on the 1st tee (by a jazz musician) a year later. She is much more competitive than I am and plays more days a week than I do. When we travel, I always have a playing partner!! 4 4 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”
