I think the season of golf is over

We had an email this morning that our course was officially closed. Figured as much it was mid 30's here with winds blowing 25-30. Not pleasant. On the other hand I've never played our course into December - played last Friday, Saturday Sunday and Monday. Think I pushed it with SWMBO.

Too bad. Those extreme weather rounds are worth it to. You feel like a warrior out there and the score doesn't really matter.

 

Plus you've usually got the course to yourself.

Was matched up with 2 randoms today.Had a really great time but we all didn't play well at all.Had a two some catch up to us with some real big young bombers.They played in with us on two holes. One hole was a par 5 ending their round for that day.Both of these young guns picture perfect swings and easily belted their drives 300 plus.Each of them easily reached the par 5 and both had eagle putts.Im always really interested and enjoy watching better players.Not trying to get a tip,but just in awe of their abilities.Anyway, my partners payed no attention to them.And never even realized they reached a par 5 in two and had makeable eagle tries.Im noticing this more and more of late.So many are just only focused on themselves that playing with a better golfer doesn't interest them.Not sure if it is change in fast and busy lifestyles many have.Ive always thought it was an honor to be matched up and watch great players.

My wife an I went and seen it, my only disappointment is that George did sell the franchise to Disney before doing the first three episodes. It was amazing.

I learned a valuable lesson today from my pro.Per our conversation “The amateur golfer and his swing can never be compared to a professional”.Meaning copying pros positions is the worst thing we can do.There are so many non traditional ways for amateurs to go and just enjoy the game that a pro would laugh at.But will allow most of us to go out and get around the course having fun and scoring lower.Never again will I slow motion pro golf swings to see what they are doing.

 

If I look goofy shooting well and having fun than so be it

The Pro I go to once in a while is great. Since 99% of his students are old farts he has a simple approach, at least with me. He works with what you have and tunes it into a workable, functional swing. He does not try to turn us into Pros only as good a player as we can be . I like it.
