Wood or plastic tees?

Which do you prefer wood or plastic tees, and why?

There’s a decent thread here on that subject.

But for what it’s worth, I’m usually a plastic guy myself, because I’d rather keep using the same tee over and over for as long as possible. But I’m always happy to play a free tee whenever I find them.

Plastic.  If I use wood they break after a couple of tee shots.

I used plastic for long time and still will if I play courses around me that have soft tee boxes. But, my home course has rock hard tee boxes so I tend to use wood because it's easier to get in the ground. When I used plastic there I joked I would have to add my impact drill to my bag in order to drill a pilot hole just to get the tee in the ground.

I use evolve golf tees. I will usually buy some of their wood tees.

The nice thing about playing in Florida is that it is always wet.  I had forgotten about how wooden tees break until I read csnoil's comment.  I generally use plastic because I can use the same tee hundreds of times that way.  I use long tees so on par 3's and par 4's where I'm not hitting driver I pick up whatever is laying around the tee box.

Plastic tees all the way. One box will last me 2-3 years. 

On par 3s I always use a broken discarded tee.

I always liked wood tees. I love the look of them and I like how it breaks when you hit a nice drive.
But now with plastic you just need a short one and a long one and that’s it.  I have quietly converted to it and I am not looking back.

I stick with wood, mostly because I use the stepped / castle tees to help me ensure consistent tee height I have them in 4 heights but mostly driver and iron height with just a few stuck back for FW/ Hybrid  and another height for different older / shorter driver headed driver . I am good about picking up me tees and would use plastic if I could get a selection of castle tees. I do have plastic tees for the matts at the range

I bought a bag of 100 white plastic tees that have three blue marks on them to get you of an idea of the tee height and been using them for 3 - 4 years now but at my course I’ll grab some wood ones .. I chose plastic bc I always break the wood ones right away

One more vote for plastic tees and it's not because I have three college degrees in Plastics!  I break wood tees about every other hole.  I'll use a plastic tee for over a month or two.  It's funny, I get on a roll and have a good round with a specific plastic tee and I'll keep on using that specific tee until I loose it or break it.  When they break, I'll use a knife to sharpen a point and use it on par threes.  Sort of a reuse strategy.

I like the white wood tees because they leave a mark on the driver that helps me get an idea for strike location. They don’t break on me that often, but New Jersey has pretty soft turf.

I am in the plastic tee camp.  I do not think I ever broke one, but on occasion I have lost them, mostly because I forget to pick them up.

I like the feel off wooden tees but plastics just last longer so I usually default to plastic

I've been using wood tees this year and actually found I can see if I am making swing mistakes based off the teed breaking or not.

However I truly don't care. Whatever is available at a good price to play is what I will get.

I like to use wood tees with stripes for consistent height.

Plastic tees. For no good reason. My cousin who is significantly better at golf than me uses them. So I started using them. I like the lines on them as I've been putting them at a consistent height now, and If I'm hitting multiple good drives, I tend to save the Tee because obviously it has good mojo until it doesn't.

I have been using both as available, but I generally find plenty of wood tees on the course each round to not have to buy any. I do prefer wood tees as a general rule, if not for anything else other than that I tend to lose Tees frequently because our course generally has pretty penal rough around our tee boxes and it's very easy to lose tees.

Mainly use wood tees unless I find a plastic tee laying in the box.  I like wooden because I can fix my green divots easier. Plastic always bend.  
 

i am curious if the “tour tee” is actually worth the cost.  If they do last as long as they claim I may try them because I break a wooden tee every other hole since our tee boxes are pretty firm.

WIth so many different tees I usually just go with what has the best price. I did get as a gift with the vice order some tees that seem to be composite tees. So far I have really liked them and been pretty durable overall.

I use American Flag plastic tees. I get numerous rounds out of the tee and I like the way they look. The only problem is sometimes the tee makes my ball duck hook and other times a big banana slice. It’s got to be the tee right.

I use plastic tees for my Driver and shorter wood tees for my hybrid, fairway woods, and irons…..I like the plastic tees because they don’t break as often and use the wooden shorter tees because I like the length.  The shorter plastic tees I have found are just too short.

I like plastic tees though they often spring further away after the shot. I tend to break wood tees and plastic have more options.

All wood tees, all the time for me. Not sure why exactly because I break a tee at least every few holes if not more often lol, but have just never liked plastic tees. When I’ve used them before it seemed if the ground was too hard, they’d want to bend and be harder to push into the ground than a wooden tee.

My home course supplies plastic tees so I use them for the driver.  Use short wooden tees for irons.

Wood. Plastic is really bad for the environment. It’s worth the effort to buy a couple of bags
